RE: How would you handle this

I bought a 99 diesel Class A MH and wound up with issues and I was promised to take care of the problems, leaking jack, propane problems and hinges on entry door were broken and when driving the air blows in and can get real cold for passenger.
I was able to have part of the payment withheld. Seller agrees to fix if I drive it back to him 60 miles and they will repair MH, but first he wants me to release the money. Would I be crazy to go for this deal?? Should it be fixed first and then release the funds
If they didn't do you right the first time, what makes U think they will do fine the SECOND time ??

RE: rubber roof repair question

I would not pay anyone $2k for any roof repair I'm capable of doing myself!!
Pull the strip, tape it, put the strip back on and coat as previously suggested.
Good luck!!

RE: Question regarding electrical wiring

You need a megger to do it right. A vom will not tell you if the insulation is bad.

RE: Generator

Hi,
58 db vs 68 db = twice as loud. (Edit after corrected by another rvnet member)
Just so you know at 58 db volume, call it loud
then 61 db is twice as loud
then 64 db is twice as loud of the 61 db level
then 67 db is twice as loud of the 64 db level, well
you get the idea.
Just saying !!

RE: Upholstery is wearing out... How to replace?

We redid ours. DW went to fabric store and bought a chair style fabric plaid that she liked. Her sewing machine worked just fine (using heavier needles). We replaced foam and did all the work ourselves. As you are dis-assembling the couch etc, just pay attention to how it comes apart. I'll give you a clue, a lot of staples and 'hog-rings' if you know what those are. Any older style hardware store carries them and a special tool for using them.
Have fun!!

RE: Running generator...what load

A 700 watt load is enough. A coffee pot comes to mind or an electric heater. You don't have to have exactly 50% load, really .

RE: Need new Coil Spring Air Bags

You can get new 'air bags'. However, you might also consider getting the 'Super Steer' new coil springs which if sized correctly would replace your old springs AND air bags, so that in the future, there are no air bags to fail. That is what I did and never looked back.

RE: How do you describe roughing it

Going to 'high country' by pack mule, staying for 8 days hunting Elk!!
No power, no shower, snow, tent only, survival gear. That's roughing it!!!

RE: 1992 damon challenger

I have a '95' daybreak, my spare is under the rear end of the RV. Yours may not have one anymore, but the mount for it might be under the rear end.

RE: 30 amp shore line getting burnt ?

Too many experts here, they will get you in trouble. PM me if you want to find out the problem and find a solution. There are not two hot wires in a 30 Amp RV circuit, only one hot, one neutral, and one ground. I am not aware of any difference between an electrician and a rv electrician. Neither one will connect a green wire to a white neutral without a very special reason. Feel free to PM me anytime, I will get you the correct advice, retired electrician.

RE: Selling Motorhome ??

Give me your thoughts, I have decided to sell our motorhome, not because we have to, but because we have gone in a different direction for R&R.
The problem is the tire kicker type and the ones who just want to look. When someone wants to come look at the rv I plan to spend some time with them to answer all their questions and have everything up and running which can take about a hour or so if they even show up.
Would I be wrong in requesting a proof of funds before I even consider spending my time to let them look at it??
What do you think?
The bottom line is when you bought it, you knew someday eventually you would want to get rid of it. Now these things depreciate pretty much faster than the titanic sank. Your choice is put up with the "tire kickers" or put it in a consignment shop to sell it. Good luck !!

RE: Removing bolted down recliner

Well we did it. Got the back off the chair and out the door. DH cut the bolts off even with the floor, now maybe we can proceed.
We are going to have to patch the carpet. I guess we can cut a piece out from somewhere it won't show and get a carpet laying friend to see what he can do.
I thought about just replacing all the carpet but that is a project I don't really want to tackle.
Thanks for the help. Everyones ideas always help.
Had a similar job. Just cut out all of the carpet up to the front area and put down laminate. Never looked back, best thing we have done.

RE: Anyone planning on downsizing?

I love camping, but with the price of fuel these days, I've been thinking of downsizing to a trailer. Currently $4.00 every 6 miles is getting rediculous and I don't see it getting better. Time to bail before the RV really loses value?
Thoughts?
It (the RV ) already has lost value. It started depreciating when it was built.!! The cost of the fuel is not the biggest cost, but I guess it does add up and jolts you a little. Others will tell you if you really sat down and figure it out, the fuel is not your highest cost.

RE: Antenna booster on Damon

I have an older unit, and mine is in the cabinet above passenger side. It a little black box with a coax going in and one coming out. The switch actually turns on the 12v power to the 'antenna booster' amplifier in the antenna itself. The power is fed out on the coax cable.
