RE: Be aware of 'burn bans'

The last count of burn bans in Texas was at 235 counties. That leaves 19 without a burn ban.
The terrible drought and heat in Texas should give everyone good hint that fires are not welcome right now.
I believe that number is now 251 conties with a burn ban (only two without one)

RE: 94 Monaco Executive Dash AC problem

Have owned coach for almost 2 years no problem with dash air until taken out of storage this year. Noticed dash AC compressor wouldn't come on, connected a jumper, clutch engaged and stayed engaged when jumper was removed. Same problem next start up only clutch wouldn't remain engaged once jumper was removed. added 2 cans of Freon (R-12 system)using gages, high and low pressures are in limits. 12V is flowing thru low press SW in front end of coach, but not getting to compressor in back on the engine. I disconnected wire from compressor and low press SW, tested it with a test light and it causes the light to come on telling me the wire is grounded for one reason or the other. Does any one know if this wire is routed directly to the compressor of if there are other components (relays)connected and if so where in the coach are they located? Any suggestions or comments are welcomed.
Ron
Sorry Ron, I'm not quite following what you are saying about the test light. If you disconnect the wire at the compressor and the test light comes on (connected to the wire & test light grounded) that would indicate you are getting voltage to the compressor. I don't think I am understanding what you are describing--sorry.

RE: Garner SP, Texas--what to do/what to see?

Hopefully it will rain a bunch before you get to Garner. The Frio is very, very low, a lot of the low water crossings are dry. There is still enough clean water to get wet and float around the pools--but there is no tubing the river right now unless you call walking the river tubing. We are lucky where we live, about 10 miles from the head waters so we still have good flowing water (still a very low flow). It is the worst I have seen it in over 50 years.
I believe the park has dances every night during the summer.
You can take a drive to Camp Woods, from Leakey on RR337W it is a pretty drive and then take it the other way to Vanderpool.
Good luck

RE: Recharging My RV AC with R134a

The change over from R12 to 134a was 92-94. There are alot of opinions about what will and won't work. I can tell you from years of experience working on auto ac systems that a lot of things will work and others, well they might not. I have changed several r12 systems to 134a doing nothing more than repairing the system and pulling a good vacuum on the system and recharging with 134a. Most are still cooling fine and others had different failures. My old work truck (1993 Chevy)is still doing fine after about 12 years of 134a.
Good luck

RE: Family 'gathering' across a trail -- WWYD?

I have read just too many stories about some jerks being jerks (the family spread across the trail) and someone who is quite right in demanding their rights (Walking through) winding up dead right (Shot in the head or heart or worse)
That said, what I'd do, depends on a lot of things. Hard to say till I arrive at the blockade.
you have to "Size up" the competition and make a decision.
However, the advice to contact park rangers.... No matter what you decide at the scene.. that should be done.
I gotta ask--what would be worse than being shot dead.
I probably would have gone around, but I might have gone thru, just depending upon the situation.

RE: Do U allow passengers to sit in slides while moving? Y or N

Sure. Why not?
Other than just paranoia is there a valid reason not to allow passengers to ride in slide outs? I have seen several photos of motorhome crashes and don't remember seeing slides coming out or crushing or whatever. Am I missing something?
answer is yes. the family walks around while the RV is moving too. yeh, we are heck raisers.
X2 And the propane is on and we drink water from the tank. But we do not overnight at Wal-Mart or truck stops.
Heck we do all that and even the walmart thing at times.

RE: Have DishNetwork at home

Just get you another dish to take with you and then just take a receiver from home with you. Just make sure your second dish has the same lnb as your house, makes it much easier, you don't have to do the check switch step.

RE: Slide-out awning replacement..

I replaced my slide-out awning a few months ago. It is an older carefree awning (1999). I bought the replacement ends for the awning tube also. It was pretty straight forward. Finding how much to wind the spring for my model was the hardest part.
