RE: Keystone Bullet Premier

Another thing to consider is whether your black and gray labels are reversed, as many of us Premier owners are. If you had the gray valve open, obviously nothing will come out when flushing the black tank.

RE: Keystone Bullet Premier

When I flush my black tank after it is empty, it takes a good minute or so for the water to start flowing out.

RE: Best Weight Distributing Hitch with Sway Control?

I read about the SwayPro, and it does sound pretty good. I don't have any experience with it though. And it looks to be about $100 more than the EQ or DC.

RE: L Bracket Loose

West Texan, do you have the one with 2 nylon lock nuts on each L-bracket? Mine do not loosen. Maybe it was a 1 time thing. The nylon serves as the locking mechanism, so no thread locker should be needed.

RE: F-250 shortbed rear window blowout!

Sorry about your mishap. :(
Were the broken leaf springs on the trailer or truck?
On the 5er. The dry weight is supposed to be right around 11K. The 4 leaf springs were rated at 2,500 each. Since the rig must have met federal guidelines went it was first sold, I assume the manufacturers must be allowed to deduct the pin weight from the gross weight in their determination of adequate spring size.
We bumped up an extra leaf so each spring is now 3,000 each. Would like to have gone one level higher but none were available in the right length.
That sucks. Glad you got it fixed up but this needs better regulation. Unacceptable given the money they cost.
They size the trailer tires the same way. I argued with a Gulfstream rep about, maybe I'm not smart enough, but a traielr weighs what it weighs, regardless of pin weight, the axles and tires still have to have enough capacity to hold the trailer and cargo.
I understand what you are saying, but how is that different than saying a truck's rear axle should have enough capacity to support the entire truck when loaded? Most TT/FW mfr's would not waste money doing that. TTs are designed to hold 90% of the weight (max) on the tires (FWs even less). There will ALWAYS be weight distributed to the tongue, either hooked to the TV or resting on the ground.

RE: L Bracket Loose

Great info ROBERTSUNRUS, but the OP is referring to the L-brackets, not the trailer frame brackets. As mentioned, the Equal-i-zer was updated a couple years ago to correct this issue (although I'm not positive it was also corrected for the E2). They are now attached to the frame brackets using 2 bolts and nylon lock nuts. Mine no longer loosen. You can get the replacement brackets from Equal-i-zer. Unfortunately, they are not a free upgrade.

RE: Dodge Ram 2008

The "quicker" 4.7 was not produced until 2010. I had a 2005 Ram Quad Cab with the 4.7 (which is essentially the same as the 2008, other than minor cosmetic front end and interior differences). I was not satisfied with how it pulled. If you can find one with the 5.7, I would much rather get that. My 4.7 was trouble-free, but it really struggled towing my TT (although it was about 1,000# heavier than yours).
To answer your question, yes, it will pull it, and if you have 3.92 gears, it is likely under the weight limits. If you have 3.55 gears, it is likely too heavy. With either combo, however, it won't tow it too easily.

RE: New Bullet 31BHPR

Congrats on your new purchase! Welcome to the club! :D
Probably run you $650+ to put on 2 slide toppers. You would have been better off negotiating this into your purchase. You lost all leverage at this point getting a "good" price. Good luck.
That price is pretty close if you purchase and install yourself. If you have the RV shop do it, add on a few more hundred. (The 2 slides on this model are 12'6" and 7'6".)

RE: squat

If I am reading your post correctly, the front is 1/4" lower in the front when hitched, correct? If so, I would not recommend any more washers or links.

RE: P3 problem

I was having issues with mine a couple months ago. Called the number I listed above, and he told me the same thing. Unplug, wait a few minutes, and plug back in. Well, I never did that. Instead, I bought a new TV, got a new wire adapter for it, and installed it on the new TV. I only towed twice with it, but haven't had an issue yet.

RE: Does this look right ( Equal-i-zer ) ? Couple questions.

The hitch ball was put on by my local RV shop. I just tighten the shank bolts as tight as I can manage with a breaker bar. They have never loosened up on me.

RE: star v. round city water inlet

I use one of these. Helps with preventing hose kinks too. It is easy to screw on/off, since it is an elbow, and it is easy to screw on/off the FW hose, since it has grips on it. And best of all, no plastic to deal with.

RE: Does this look right ( Equal-i-zer ) ? Couple questions.

I agree with several above; I wouldn't change it. The bars look pretty parallel, and the front end settled back down. The only thing you didn't mention is how level the trailer is sitting. As long as it is pretty level or slightly nose-down, it looks great.

RE: equalizer setup

It sounds like you are missing the main area that needs lube. You need to lube the outside tops and bottoms of the 2 sockets that the WD bars slip into. They are the main source of the hitch noise. If you haven't lubed that area yet, you need to ASAP.

RE: Excursion Special Service Vehicle What's the difference?

Are the auto hubs known to fail? I will be sure to ask to have it put on a lift so I can witness the 4x4 function.
Yes, there could be a couple issues that you should check. One is the functioning of the ESOF. The vac lines sometimes crack/leak and the ESOF will not work. In that case, you need to manually lock the hubs. This isn't a big deal unless you have issue #2: the lock has a tendency to get too hard to turn.

RE: Black Tank Flush - Don't do what I did!!

Newbie question...if I am fortunate enough to have a black tank flush on my rig, should I flush with the valve open or closed? I have just been running the hose for about 5 mins or so with the valve open.
