Mine cost less than a new SUV. I'm a bargain hunter.

RE: Highway Rest Areas

Sounds like a normal stop. While I usually drive until 9 or later, many RVers pull off around 5pm and don't pull out until 8am. I have sometimes not pulled out until 11am if I oversleep.

RE: newbie's first question

Ditto the next exit, rest areas, and truck stops. Also find that using google maps satellite view to look at potential stops to see how big the parking areas are before heading there. Not restaurants but driving around coastal Maine looking at lighthouses. Wanted to make sure I could get down the road and out before going. I don't tow yet, but yes that will take a bit more planning as you will be unable to back up.

RE: 22 Degrees Tonight!!! What should I do?

I'm in GA and the last two nights were 18 degrees, yesterday's high of 36. Heat tape on my water hose as it is 60 ft long, heat on in the RV. No issues.

RE: Why I Love My RV

Why I love my RV: We are visiting my mother. We could stay in the house with her and her cats, but with the RV we can stay in our own place, bring the dogs, and not impose! Oh, and not feel guilty about eating late night snacks in bed.

RE: be careful on snow covered roads

Last January I drove from New England to FL after the south had iced over. Roads were now clear, but the evidence of spinouts remained as cars were iced over in ditches all over the place.
On my return trip north, we counted 21 cars in ditches between TN and VA. And then, right before our eyes, a car came down the entrance ramp too fast, skidded, swerved, and before we knew it was headed right for the front end of our MH (I was in the left hand lane). I don't know how he missed us but somehow regained control of the vehicle before he did.
I don't plan on driving in the snow again but at that time of year campground options were very limited.

RE: Do you leave your space heater ON over night?

I have an electric stand-alone baseboard-type heater, 4' long and I leave it plugged in and turned on all night in addition to my propane furnace. It sits in the middle of the floor.

I use my debit card all the time. If I need cash, cash back at Walmart. Haven't had an issue.

RE: Tire Question

Plan on checking it at every stop, just in case. And, obviously, right before I leave.
Am thinking of moving, just that problem of a significant other tied to house and job. Darn it!

RE: Grandkids in 55 over resorts

I never saw the point of hanging out with same age people. As annoying as some kids are, they are about the same annoying as a poorly behaved dog. Life is too short to sweat the small stuff, it's all small stuff.
Most of the new housing subdivisions in my area are all 55+. Something I'll just never understand. Each to his own.

RE: Rest Stops

If you travel the same route a lot you find familiar places to stop that are comfortable. I am a creature of habit. When in the unfamiliar place, I look stuff up online to see if other RVers had issues in certain areas. Parking and review sites are great for that.

RE: Tire Question

Took it in, they took the tire off checked it all over, checked the valve stem, found no issues. I'll be checking it closely on this trip, just in case.
Cheap insurance, just a PIA chunk of time out of my busy day.

Tire Question

Yesterday was checking RV prior to an upcoming trip this weekend and found one of my inner duals at 20psi. At last trip was fine; RV recently sat for a week on a local RV lot for some maintenance work, drove it home with no issues.
Filled the tire to 82psi yesterday at 2pm. Just rechecked it, still at 82psi.
Should I still take it to the tire guy to be checked out, or is it likely someone let the air out? I do live in a neighborhood where******like that happens, stuff taken from unlocked cars, bikes taken from back yards, and a few months ago 2 cars parked in the street had the 2 streetside tires flattened in the same night.
I should just eat the expense of having the tire checked out today. Would you?

RE: large dog policies

I have, over the past 6 years, had the pleasure to deal with a lot of pits. Most are sweet and loving with people. Some are sweet and loving with people and other pets. And I've had the misfortune of seeing some of the damage they cause when they eat other animals, their size and smaller. Not pretty.
If I'm walking my little yappers through the campground, I want to make sure that when your dogs bark at mine, they are not going to break their chain and come eat mine.
I have many friends that own pits. And some more than one. Responsible pet owners whose pets are spayed/neutered and trained. And yet still there have been indidents where their dogs have gone after each other, or a neighborhood pet. My opinion they are just not predictable.

RE: Bereavement rates for Air Fares?

If they give you a discount at all, it is off the full fare, which is usually way more than you can purchase a ticket for on your own. Plus there are a few hoops to jump though as well. When my sister died it was cheaper just to get a ticket the usual way.
