RE: Hwy 550 from Durango to Ouray, Colorado

Did it in a 36' DP pulling a Wrangler. No problem. If you don't have a fear of heights.

RE: how do i flush radiator on country coach 2005 with c9 cat

Just curious but I have had dozens of vehicles, diesels, gas and even propane powered. Half a dozen motorhomes (DP and gas) boats from 15' to 40', tractors, generators and all kinds of engine powered earth moving equipment. Some vehicles with over 300,000 miles. I've never flushed a radiator or had a radiator flushed. Why does one flush their radiator?

RE: HELP! EMERGENCY! NEED HELP NOW!

Without any info on rig type can only guess. E-brake set, compartment doors closed, check door switches for wires pulled off, fuses, jacks up or down as required, air pressure up, engine on or off. Many manufacturer variables and interlocks.

RE: Plugged into 50amp, getting 30amp

In an effort to save money, I've seen campgrounds run a single (sometimes oversized) current carrying conductor to the 50A outlet and then jumper it to both hot legs of the outlet. Not legal or up to code but a lot of rural CGs don't pay a lot of attention to code. RVs with no energy management system will never detect a problem but rigs with EMS look for 240V between legs to determine if the source it 50A or 30A.

RE: Purchasing RV out of state and driving back home

My insurance (Ameriprize) will cover any purchased vehicles up to 30-days from date of purchase. No questions asked.
I'd be sure to double check this as most policies specifically exclude RVs from the automatic 30 day coverage provision.

RE: Propane lines destroyed

When I jack up the MH I then block the axle and frame using 6x6 wood blocks.
Never use compression fittings on gas lines.
Galvanized iron will shed zinc particles that will eventually clog all your gas orfices.
If you use any black iron, use RectorSeal #5 on the threads.

RE: How do I measure for battery drain?

rlking,
I checked Sears and still can't find a clamp on amp meter that will read DC amps. Somebody please give me a model number or link.
Thanks

RE: Furnace starts by itself

I've also heard that some flourescent light fixtures can put enough noise on the DC power lines to cause thermostats to do funny things.

Chuck&Gail,
I've never seen a clamp on DC amp meter. Any idea where I could get one?

RE: Furnace starts by itself

I had a Monaco with the thermostat mounted on an outside wall. In the summer, condensation would form on the backside of the thermostat and cause the A/C to do all kinds of funny things. Relocated the thermo to an inside wall and stopped the problem. Might be something to look at.

RE: What are our chances?????????????

I know a lot of folks think there is something complicated about getting a work camping position and I'm sure that may be the case for some positions. I've only work camped for 3 summers out of the last 8 and in every case, I was at a location I liked, went to the front office to inquire about work camping and was put to work the next day. All were site in exchange for work postions and no money changed hands. Maybe I just got lucky.

RE: A/C run on the batteries

I don't see how running the A/C on bateries makes the A/C any less noisy. I just run the A/C off the generator and I can't even hear the generator over the sound of the A/C. :)

RE: Bicycle Rack Issues

That's why we have $59 Wal-Mart bikes and replace them on a regular basis. I used to to tie a Wal-Mart bag over the seat but don't even bother with that anymore.

RE: Anyone Experience This Battery Problem

Sounds like the battery was low on water to me. When did you check the water level? Also it could be high charge voltage.

RE: Possible Causes of Coolant in Oil on ISC 350 - Updated

Once upon a time Monaco used radiators that had thd transmission cooler incorporated into the same radiator as the engine cooling. They had failures of the radiator that allowed coolant to get in the transmission. I suppose that if the oil cooler was incorporated into the same radiator as the engine coolant a similar situation could develop. I know a lot of gas engine cars have this kind of radiator design. At least if that was the problem it would be a fairly simple fix.

RE: Hot Water Tank Mixing Valve

Never heard of a "mixing valve" on a hot water heater. Are you talking about the water heater bypass valve?
And sometimes the check valve in the water heater line gets clogged or goes bad.

RE: Drivers License?

It's depends on the state and you are going to get a lot of opinions on here. Some right and some wrong. Check with your DMV.

RE: Purchasing RV out of state and driving back home

Yeah, I always wondered why when a poster asks about a specific state, in this case NC, he gets answers about every other state in the union that have absolutly no relavance to his question.
