RE: RV Sales and economy

Dealers are finding that people who put off luxury buys because of the worried economy the past 3 years, are now feeling confident enough to start buying again.

RE: Can't Find Leak - Help!

Yes, we also had a leaking skylight that the edges of the plastic would curl up and develop small slits. Replaced the skylight itself. No more leaks.

RE: tire wear, negative camber ?

JUST had that same scenario, but with excessive outside wear on 1 front axle tire, which on our fiver turned out to be a bent axle. Had the Lippert axle replaced with a Dexter, and replaced worn tire with the good spare. New Dexter axle and including 1 12 hr. labor came to about $270.

RE: Questions for newer GM HD 6.0 gas owners

Our 2007 HD 6.0 6spd 3.73 gets 18 without any hassle, not towing, of course.

RE: Wireless rear view camara suggestions?

Just saw a Tadi Company ad on the forest river forum for 7" to 9" cameras for fivers, $249-$399. They do offer a 30 day return policy. Have no idea how good, but system looks decent. You might ck. that out.

RE: opinions please...

Those holding tank straps might have been an after thought fix for poorly supported sagging tanks. That's the remedy FR had for ours. Just put some better support angle iron across. Black streaks "come with the territory".

RE: Travel Trailer Manufacturers Ratings/Reliability

Another way to compare is to gauge initial cost versus planned length of use. We don't go high end, but we also plan to purchase new more often. Entry and mid level rvs can cost 1/4 to 1/2 cost of expensive models and often the difference is Corian counters and the like, which I guess just aren't as important to our needs. But, we get a newer rv every few years with a two year warranty. This attitude might not be right for all, but we have been satisfied so far.
Right now we have a 2008 FR toy hauler without slides that is holding up just fine, and is extremely roomy when toys are unloaded, and has great storage.

RE: Are dealers paid to prepare units prior to PDI?

Some are diligent about pdi, while others wait for you to inspect and complain has been our experience.

Another vote for fish oil, or flaxseed oil if you prefer.

RE: Looking for an Electric Heater

We also got the Lasko, designer series ceramic oscillating heater, model 6405. Used it this fall and it really heats up our cavernous toyhauler. Cat seemed happy with it, too.

RE: Actual Dealer Cost.....listed on website

That 38 to just over 40% sounds about right to me as a dealer cost, as some dealers get rebates from manufacturers, and the wholesale dealers are offering at least 33% off in most cases, even on lower end units.

RE: Carlsbad Info

We also stayed at Carlsbad-decent park. White's the closest park only had 50 amp service available last April, and it is run down. Also ck. out the combination outdoor zoo/arboratum in town. Well worth a visit.

RE: "Short" FW, but big on features?

Another option might be a smaller toy hauler fifth wheel. The rear beds go up against the ceiling creating lots of open living area. They range from 26-34'-Sportsman, FR wolfpack, etc.

RE: Hot water igniter problem?

Got it fixed! We had a lot of driving rain storms this weekend and I found the wires and cover to the ceramic doodad very wet and starting to rust. Wire brushed them clean, put rubber cover back over wires and it fired right up.

Hot water igniter problem?

This is first time our 4 year old water heater in the fiver won't ignite. No clicking sounds when tried on inside switch or outside manually. Does this sound like an igniter problem and how can it be remedied? Believe it is an Atwood in a FR toyhauler.
