Onan Code 45

My Onan 10000 is stopping immediately after stopping and giving a code 45. Oman site says it cannot read the speed.......Cummins Atlantic says it could be bad, but have scheduled us for more tests. Anybody got any idea what I am looking at?

RE: Temporary tags for an out of state move?

Just talked to Florida DMV in my area, and they give out temporaries on motorhomes registered elsewhere as a regular thing if the buyer will be registering it in some other state. I need it for an out-of-state buyer who is looking at buying my Beaver. Ellen, why not call the nearby states and see if you can get a temporary from them. Tell them the owner is meeting you in their state to sell it to you.

RE: Class A - adding outside lights? flood lights?

I bought a LED. String 5meters long -about 16'8" on ebay for about $25 and wired into the porch light, then glued it to the side of the coach light just under the awning rail. With the awning out, it is. Light enough to play cards on the patio. With the awning in, the DW calls it the landing lights. If the awning had a part that didn't go out and allowed the bulbs to face the ground, that would be perfect. The strip came with adhesive on the back which didn't work, so I got some 3M.adhesive used for bonding trim on cars.....about $4 for a tube the size of an extra large toothpaste tube. The seller on ebay was efortown. I also bought G3 's to replace my interior halogens from him and have been very satisfied.

RE: Just Priced New Tires ! OUCH!

I just purchased 6 275/80R 22.5 XZA3+ Load Range G Michelins. Date of manufacturer was 7th week of 2012, made in Canada. Went thru the FMCA/Michelin program with a price of $497.39 each. With mounting, balance and taxes, the out the door total was $3,734.51. I realize the 295 would be a little bit more. Andre, your little bit is about $250 per tire!

RE: Just Priced New Tires ! OUCH!

What load do they need to carry....the Michelins were the only ones that would carry the weight I have on the fronts. I got mine using the Monaco International RV Club discount, which was about $35 better per tire than the Advantage price. They solved all my ride issues!

RE: Permanently wired shore power line?

My 98 Beaver and my 90 Beaver both had power in/power out cable reels with 50' of cable on them. Makes hookups easy. I've only seen the pull out/ power in on fivers. My concern with that is that it looks easy to yank out the cord and steal it for the copper. Power out means they can only get the part from the coach to the power post.

RE: "Roughing It Smoothly"

I thought Tiffin's slogan was.... "We go where you go". MM. My 1990 Allegro had "Roughing IT Smoothly" in large letters on the back cap.....I peeled it off. Seemed way too cheesy

RE: Financing

What are you buying? Maybe somebody from Canada is interested in selling theirs? Then it would be a private Canadian sale!

RE: Original Poster never returns Solution

I'd vote for any OP being forced to either automatically go to their post on signin or to take email on all new posts on their thread. When I put up a new thread I try to remember to set it for 'email me' but I don't always remember......I've lost posts before. If I lost one you posted to, thank you for trying to help me!

RE: Poll of fulltimers with no washer or dryer

Boy, what a way to get comments that support you - ask only those who made the same decision you want what they think.......I just have one question....Where do you get the space to store all that smelly damp clothing? If we didn't wash every day of two, we would be swamped.

RE: Any ideas for a homemade seat shock absorber?

My Beaver has an air ride drivers seat, co-pilots doesn't because of 6 way and airlift not being compatible.

RE: how do you light up the night

We have the LED lights, about $28 on Ebay, seller efortown, for a 16'8" (5m) length. I wired them into my outside porch light so they come on with the switch at the door.

RE: Who Wants To Be Our Virtual Advisor? :)

@427435. Thanks, clearly the best advice I am getting is to make every effort to get prior owner's maint records all be it possibly a daunting task when buying from a lot as low miles and older vehs may present more problems coming out of hibernation. I understand as well LEAK and TIRE inspection are paramount. Thanks again. Remember that maintenance records would be an easy fake as the best maintenance is going to be done by people who do it themselves. So don't rely on records....look for real evidence of care, like change dates weitten on filters, all of the little stuff caught up, knowledge of how things were fixed, etc.

RE: Who Wants To Be Our Virtual Advisor? :)

D724, the 98 Beaver caught my eye, since it is the plainer model of mine. (I have the updated Diamante package.) This unit is extremely solid and well built. It should have air levelling which is a major plus! On the hydraulic levellers make sure the recall was done and the front jacks are now behind the front wheels. They were originally in front of the front wheels and it didn't work out. OTOH, I've never used the hydraulic jacks.... but a future buyer may care. The coach is well insulated and is quiet as well as warm/cool as required. The aquahot system is fabulous!!!! At the age of this unit, you need to check the seals around the slide and the seal between the roof and wall fibreglass which is a lap seal with a screwed on metal strip. If the metal strip is loose under the right conditions the rain will enter the wall and come out on the inside wall. Longer screws and good caulk solved it....work but not expensive. Another area of concern is the cabinet finish. D724 has a small case of it by the pictures. The previous owner on mine put in a set of Kenmore apartment size washer and dryer. Fits well and a great upgrade. Value of mine has increased by $25,000 since we bought it in 2010........just a great coach. If you want to talk further, PM me.

RE: Auto Air Leveling vs Auto Hydraulic Leveling

Mine has both air and hydraulic HWH levelling. My first two coaches had hydraulic levelling, and I discovered that they were great as long as the coach was parked on bedrock. Anywhere else, sooner or later the jack pads were in a hole and the coach was twisting. Sometimes I needed to dig them out in order to retract the jacks. In the end I was always relying on the Wheels and tires to hold the coach up. Air levelling was on my wish list for my third coach, and I've never used the hydraulics on this coach. You can level it anywhere, in fact I usually level when I stop in rest areas, Walmarts, or anywhere I'm shutting the engine down. After all, it's just two quick hits on the button. We use our washer most days, and it doesn't shake at all. The only shake and roll I ever feel is if I'm lying down on the bed and somebody large bounces up the door steps. I don't understand why they even make hydraulic levellers. Air is that good!!!

RE: Who Wants To Be Our Virtual Advisor? :)

How long do you want it to hold its value? My initial answer would be to say, look for high end units. They tend to keep their value better than entry level units. Also, go with popular models, say 34-36' gas or 40' diesel.

RE: Fluorescent light problems

Guessing about whether the voltage is correct at the fixture is a recipe for wasting everybody's time. Go and get a multimeter if you don't have one. Even if it's a 30 mile drive to the nearest place to get one, it will still be easier and quicker than guessing.

RE: FCMA Michelin Tire Program/Any success? (Update)

We priced thru both the FMCA program and a local dealer. In our area the local truck dealer was cheaper. In my area it wasn't even close. FMCA was over $200 less. YMMV On Edit: Thanks Brett. I'vs been wondering about that.
