RE: Ford Triton V10 problems

Okay. Went out today and pulled the air filter box apart. I disconnected the top breather hose and removed the top portion of the box. I reached inside to find the MAF sensor. I found more moisture still hanging out in the top of the breather box. I unplugged the MAF sensor connector pin and removed the MAF sensor. Voila! A thin coating of mold on the interior bolts, sensor housing and finally the sensor wires themselves. I thoroughly cleaned the water out, then sprayed sensor cleaner on the sensor. After everything was dry, I reinstalled the sensor, plugged it back in, re-inserted the rubber boot, reconnected the breather hose then clamped the breather box back together. Turned the ignition key and it fired up immediately! Smooth steady idle with no surging or skipping. Now for the road test. Took it out on the highway and had full power. Pulled right up to highway speeds and kept it up with no skipping or surging. Shifting was smooth with no hesitation even after hitting overdrive. I can't believe all that trouble came from that little, teeny piece of wire! I hope that's got it and I sincerely appreciate all the help from all my forum friends.
I'm glad you are up and running again!:B

RE: Ford Triton V10 problems

Since you changed the air filter, check air box tubing and make sure it did not come off. If any portion of the tubing is loose, that can affect the MAF and run ruff. Also clean the MAF sensor.

RE: No power to outlets in Motorhome

Guys,
I may be off base here, but I believe on a 87 Southwind, all AC power goes through the transfer switch then the converter than to the AC main panel. Since it appears the air conditioners are working, I would think converter is bad or tripped breaker on the AC panel. He said he checked the fuses. Does that mean he also checked the breakers? I would also say no to the inverter just because usually that year only powered AC outlets for the TV.

RE: Millenicom or Verizon 4G, need advice quick

I have the VERIZON 4G "Mi-Fi". For the past 2 months. Before that, I had the 5G aircard. Both worked fine...the 4G was a "free upgrade to any of my wireless products"...they say up to 10 times faster (well......) but $10 cheaper than the 5G aircard.
IMO, the 5G aircard was fine...then 4G Wi-Fi is better. (and cheaper). VERIZON has the most coverage. There it is.
On a tangent, my first computer came with AOL. Stayed with AOL dialup...then the 5G aircard and is still my "homepage" with the "Mi-Fi". I got a notice from AOL that they are stopping the "My Favorites" feature as of Nov 15th.. Guess they only want the PAYING dialup customers on their servers. Kinda understandable, but it's like losing an old friend. Moved every thing (My Favorites) to IE. Guess in time, the AOL mail will stop, too.
What the heck is 5G ?
5G Technology stands for 5th Generation Mobile technology.

RE: Water Heater-just runs on propane now

There is a high temperature limit switch on the back of the unit. Before doing anything else, I would reset it by depressing it with a pencil or some other non-metalic object. That might not be the problem, but needs to be check before replacing parts.
Tom
I believe that would also apply to the gas side if the thermal reset tripped?:@
My personal experience says that is not the case. On our previous RV, because of the motoraid and long climbs in the mountains, I had to reset the high temperature limit switch a few times. One doesn't know one needs to do the reset, until the water is not hot. We would just switch to gas until I had time to do the reset. The reset was not an easy task on the 2002 Adventurer 32. Moreover, the wiring diagram shows the high temperature limit switch only in the electric element circuit.
BTW, this is the same thing that FullerBrushLady refers to as a sensor.

RE: At what temp do you winterize?

Given the location in your profile, I would think anything in the sustained mid twenties would definitely bring about the need to winterize. Your motorhome probably will maintain 10 degrees higher than the outside temperature.

RE: jacks ligjt stays on when jacks up

Generally speaking, when jacks are retracted is when the fluid reservoir is the fullest and should not affect the retraction process. However, if you turn off the power to the jacks early, the jack light may remain on and not go out!

RE: Kwikee electric step frozen in the out position

The motor is easy enough to test once you remove it. Just use a 12 volt source to see it will run in and out. If you find the motor is ok, I would take it apart and lube while its out(easy job). My Kwikee step controller ended up being the culprit with mine, and I found a place that rebuilds them for $75 three years ago.
I have the motor off the coach, have taken it apart (kind of paniced when the two bushed popped out and couldn't tell at first how to hold them back in place while replacing the armature but no problem) and lubed all the moving parts, and ready to test it for operation. No problem with the 12V+ source but does the case of the motor need to be grounded for it to work? It's mounted onto a plastic housing so not even sure where it gets it's ground even when installed back on the step.
Thanks for all the help Guys.
Wagonmaster2
My motor has a metal case.I just used a positive and negative lead at the plug connection point. If I remember, it has three prongs. 1 ground and the other 2 were the direction of the in or out. Good Luck!!!:)

RE: Bay Storage Help

Since no one else has suggested any ideas yet. If you remove your reels each time after use, a PVC tube works quite well.:) It looks like the same answer has been posted twice.

RE: Finding the right headers for 460 Oshkosh/Deere chassis

Gibson has usually been the third option for most! I don't ever remember anything bad said, just not quite as good. Aluminum (Gibson) vs. steel.
Are you saying that the Gibson headers are made from aluminum tubing? Absolutely not. The only material I see Gibson use is stainless with a choice of uncoated or ceramic coating. Good stuff.
I should have clarified more. After the stainless steel headers is aluminum piping and muffler.

RE: Finding the right headers for 460 Oshkosh/Deere chassis

Hi all! Well I found a kit Gibson still makes it. By the performance numbers posted it don't look bad. I'm surprised nobody else mentioned them, unless I missed it. OK thanks for the input I'll update this when I get done. Thanks again!

RE: Finding the right headers for 460 Oshkosh/Deere chassis

In Their opinion the OEM Manifolds were designed correctly for the application. The addition of Headers does nothing to improve the performance of this type of vehicle!
Tell that to my 460 Bounder with headers. It's like night & day difference. 60+ HP & almost 100 ft.lbs. of torque gain.
Richard
I concur on the performance increase! My speed increased 12 mph up to the top of the west side of Eisenhower tunnel. When I had my headers installed, I wanted to go with Thorley, but they stopped producing for the John Deere/Osh Kosh chassis. I ended up getting the Banks system and now they have also stopped making them for this chassis, if my memory serves me correct.
