RE: New Class c tires in Seattle area? Who does it best

Thing about Schwab is that they have locations all over the western states, providing free service to buyers of their tires and for those entering BC/Alberta, they have a reciprocal agreement in place.

RE: Personal Question $$$

I too use my CC for everything, to collect Airmiles. Just to get to Vancouver from up north is a very very expensive proposition. So..it's Airmiles and Safeway and Shell both are in the program, as is Early Bird and Rona.
I also bought my C with my CC..I didn't haggle the price, they ate the CC costs. They wouldn't give me a 40,000 line of credit..no job, eh..so pre-loaded.

Negative on the PM. Very good advance planning, going in with the Jeep first.

I am envious of the run in. I love Oregon and the eastern deserts are a real treat, so few people.

RE: Warm Springs Reservoir, OR

dgo1369...I just drove the road, on Google Earth and I am guessing you have as well..?? The resolution isn't so hot but I saw a couple spots that might be 'interesting'. I think you have suggested that there is more than one vehicle? That would be a definite good thing, in case of getting into a jam. I would be asking to speak to someone from BLM that has driven that road this year. The spring waters can make short work of a passable track.
on edit..if you were to ask for the GPS co-ordinates to the camping area, unless you have been given pretty good directions, of course.

RE: How long for poop to break down?

I thought that the chemicals you put in broke down the poop into a liquid.
cm11...just ignore the fools.
Some use chemicals, some don't. But..it's the water that breaks down the solids. The chemicals are used to control odor. I have found that if I use chemicals it control odors for a week, then one must dump. Using no chemicals, you are good for 7 days, then must dump. This is traveling all the time. If you are parked somewhere, you don't need to dump till the tank is full. No smells if you are stationary, unless you are in warm temps, then all bets are off.
If you have other questions, and you get tired of the smart mouths, PM me.

RE: How long for poop to break down?

i think maybe you don't have the needed info..you need to have maybe 5/7/10 gallons of water IN the tank, before you start the camping thing. Then, all the 'material' becomes liquid. Prior to actual dumping, use the rinse access to put more water in..adds to the volume and thus pressure, eh...and then, when you pull the handle? whhhoooooosh...it all just flushes out. Then you do a couple more close, fill, open..just to clean out the bits. Done deal. I always leave the dump station with water IN the tanks. Even if being parked for a week or two...keep residual stuff from drying and caking.THIS you do not want. Not Ever.

RE: Recommendation near Zion National Park

I can't think of much around Zion to boondock, unless you were coming in from the east. I have had luck about 3 miles from the gate, at a gas station/tourist place with an empty lot across the street.

RE: Rachel NV

Be careful.......if you see something you shouldn't, you may never get to leave :B
hahaha...now that`s cute!!!
Rachel is a nowhere place, for sure...but...the ladies in the cafe will tell you stories of stuff going on. There really is nothing there but a fuel pump and a cafe and few trailers that folks live in. If you are okay with boondocking, there are dirt roads everywhere. Just find a spot and you are home, for the night. If you have a good star night, it`ll be fabulous!

RE: Warm Springs Reservoir, OR

Sorry Denny...not in the Warm Springs area. But..if I were going home via 205, south thru Frenchglen? and on to Denio, Nevada? I'd be looking at the Sheldon Wildlife Refuge on 140. And at the Virgin River area...in the map, on Google satellite, you'll see some RV's..and a hot springs. It's a 'primitive' cg, that happens to be smack dab in rock country. Were it me..I'd be in touch with the Virgin River Mining Co or whatever they are called and talk about how to get permissions.

RE: Recommendation near Zion National Park

I really think your best bet is to try and make a reservation IN the park. Other than that, it's whatever you can find on the west end of the park in Rockville. It's so crazy busy in there, worth the trip, but man...you'll need to have some luck getting a campsite in the park, itself.

RE: A video of the Auroa Borialis..Northern Lights

Yes, profdant...you can them doing that very thing. It's kinda like a tide, sometimes..a wave that moves in and then out...but not so predictable. It can be quite eerie And if you are far enough North, there is sound, too. And many, many colours. It can be dramatic, indeed. Sue T, a frequent contributor, will tell you all about them. She lives way north, indeedy. In a log cabin, yet.

RE: Warm Springs Reservoir, OR

dgo..okay, gotcha. I'll be interested to read what BLM has to say.
re boondocking. First time? oh man, you are jumping right in, bud. If I might make a couple suggestions? Have an outside contact with knowledge of your intentions. If you get injured or ill, someone will come looking after a set time. Take a bunch of water..LOTS. Exposure to the sun and dehydration are the biggest issues out there. And snakes. Everyone should have a walking stick..that's the first thing in the rock pile, not hands. You may not have cel service, so, note where you loose the signal. Then, if you need to scoot for service, you'll know where to get to.
Oregon is a great state and I am thinking you'll have a great time. I have lots of boondocking time in, so, if you have any questions, feel free to PM me.
If you are coming up thru Winnemucca to #205, I can give you some interesting spots, one of them for rock hounds.

RE: Warm Springs Reservoir, OR

dgo...okay..now I see it. It's called Warm Springs Reservoir, that's the difference. I was using Google Map Earth and Sat. to look about. I sure don't see much, but there are lots of dirt roads running about. Which way you coming in from and if you can give me a general idea of where you are going to be for the week, I don't mind looking some more.
