RE: The best compressor to buy to air the tires to 100PSI ?

I have the Campbell Hausfield 120VAC compressor (no tank) very small and relatively inexpensive the only time I needed it on the road I just fired up the generator.
Purchased in 2004 and used it many times over the years to top off the tires.

RE: Beware in keys

No way the insurance would pay any of the bill the RV was not broken down or in an accident. That's why they call it "Emergency road side assistance".
$2200 is pretty steep not sure you have any recourse except hire a lawyer and fight the charges as excessive.

RE: Verizon Data- Problem or Scam

I had a billing problem with Verizon and it took around 5 months to finally get the problem fixed. I was billed for a free upgrade 4G Pantech modem.
Several of the customer reps & supervisors promised to "get back" to me but not one ever gave me a call back and a few said they corrected the billing and it would be OK on my next bill.
I finally found someone in the accounting department who said they (customer reps) could not make changes to billing problems but they could send e-mails to accounting for research. The person I talked to in accounting fixed the billing problem. Very frustrating dealing with the customer reps & their supervisors.
I know my Verizon data monitor is not real time but seems to be fairly close and the warnings start long before I reach my limit.

RE: Ground Fault Keeps Tripping

You must be using an adapter or some type of pigtail to plug into a household outlet I would suggest you try another adapter.
With the main breaker off you could still have a problem with your power cord that would trip the GFCI.

RE: OMG PLEASE HELP!!!

I also had the same problem when I replaced my brakes I worked it out myself but spent more time than I should have for the job.
I feel confident in my ability as a DIYer but sometimes it helps to ask for the tips and tricks from those who have the experience and willing to share.
As far as taking it to the PROS there are a lot of mechanics out there I wouldn't trust to check the air in my tires however there are many real pros but finding them is not an easy task.

RE: intake valves?

Not sure why your post should bother anyone a perfectly reasonable question with some good answers.
The fact it is the intake "gasket" is a lot better than intake/exhaust "valve" problems.
Should not brake the bank compared to reworking the valves.

RE: Pulling to one side when applying brakes

I had that problem once and the seal around the brake piston was bad allowing water into the piston area causing a sticking brake on that side.
A more common problem..Apply the brake and when the pedal is released one of the brake pads does not disengage causing a locked-up or dragging brake the RV will pull to the side that locks up.
This is caused by an internally collapsed brake line that you can't see. The brake line allows fluid to apply the brake and then will not let the fluid return or return slowly to the reservoir.

I think I would change the fuel filter before dropping the tank.

RE: Kwikee electric double step on 1997 Bounder

I had the same problem and took mine with me to verify it was the same and I think I ended up with the Dorman #742-205 from Auto Zone.
You can tell the difference between the part# 205 & 206 when you have them side by side but hard to tell from the web site picture.

RE: Breakdown X 2...

WOW the old saying if it wasn't for bad luck you wouldn't have any luck.
Tough decision to get anything out of it it will have to be running so once its is back on the road you can make a decision right now it is an emotional thing and that does not lead to what is best.
For me I would go ahead and keep for the short to mid term, not travel quite as much and build up the reserve with an eye to replacing when you can find a good deal.

RE: Leaking toilet! Help please.

1st You need to know where it is leaking high on the toilet or low around the base.
If high and at the rear it is most likely the water inlet valve an inexpensive part and east to replace.
Leaking lower on the bowl but above the base is there a crack or break in the bowl?
If leaking at the base could be the seal at the bottom or one of the water lines leaking.

RE: Motorhome electrical: what's your biggest problem

Stuff happens;
You really can't plan on any particular type of failure what fails on some rigs may never fail on others.
I don't think I have ever had the same failure twice.

RE: Portable electric heater that doesn't burn out?

Short of a lighting strike a heater with out digital controls should not fail because the power is interrupted.
The only thing I can think of is you have a 50 amp coach and somehow the outlet you are using is getting hit with 250VAC temporarily because it is miss wired at the breaker box and I'm not sure how even that would happen.
If you have had the failure at different outlets then??

RE: HOT front AC breaker

wa8yxm covered all the basis.
My bet is sometime in the past the AC ran on low voltage heating up the wiring causing a restive connection now even with good power you have a bad connection somewhere in the AC line.

RE: Gasing Up with a Toad

Best advice I can give "if in doubt" find another station.
I also do as others and scout out stations in the evening if we get out with the toad.
Its really not a big deal more common sense than anything.

RE: Rattle snake

We had a small 5 month old puppy bit in the neck by a (we think) copperhead and the dog died within 30 minuets.
Our son was bit on the wrist by a copperhead ER DR said snake teeth are terribly nasty and many times the infection will do as much or more damage than the venom.
Lots of swelling, treatment was a massive dose of antihistamine, ice and antibiotic. He was tested for the anti-venom in case they had to use it but thankfully it was not required. DR felt he was lucky and did not get a full dose of venom even so it was bad enough.

RE: north carolina moutains

Having lived in the TN/NC mountains IMO unless you have mountain driving experience there are many roads/highways in the NC/TN mountains that you don't want to drive any size MH on.
Having said that there are also plenty of major highways that are just fine for your MH and the scenery is about as good as it gets.
Plan your route and post it, you will get feedback on what to expect based on what roads and sections you plan to drive.
