RE: Trail Camera

If I thought I needed something like that then I would just find a better storage facility.

RE: 20" wide 3-step folding entry stairs

I can recommend step up manufacturing. They made me a set of custom steps for my TC. Great people to work with. http://step-upproducts.com/

RE: Anybody towing a Wrangler?

I tow a 2009 Wrangler two door. Very easy to do, I use a Blue Ox towbar and started using a Blue Ox baseplate on my Jeep. I have since had a custom steel winch bumper built with the tow bar connections built in. I also use the Blue Ox "extra bulb" kit for tail lights. I started off using the wiring that taps into the Jeep's wiring and it worked well until the diodes that prevent 12 volt feedback started going bad, I may have needed to keep a better eye on the diode, but feedback into the Jeep system can cause havoc on your electrical system. Now I hook up tow bar, hook up light plug, put transfer case in neutral and auto trans in park. Take out key and go. My Jeep has no steering wheel lock and if you don't tap into Jeep wiring for lights you don't have to disconnect battery. Main thing to watch out for (as with any toad) is keep your tow bar level as possible.

RE: Leave your guns at home!!

You can't carry a loaded gun in Texas, what makes them think they can carry loaded guns across the border to Canada. I wonder how many other states they crossed with the loaded guns?
Bad information, you can carry a loaded gun in Texas as well as most of the other states in US.
Canadian laws are different and while I don't agree, it's there laws. I will respect them while in Canada.

RE: tow truck

I have a 38 foot MS and pull it with a F-450. I also tow my Jeep Wrangler behind the trailer most of the time. I feel safe and never have had a issue with this setup. I have a couple of friends that have nearly identical trailers as mine ( DRV ) and they tow with F-350s' and have no problems. I did meet a guy once that was towing a 38 ft MS with a 3/4 ton Ford shortbed, he would not recommend that setup for anyone. We just looked at a 38' Elite Suite with a fiberglass roof and if I remember right it was 1500 pounds heavier than mine.

RE: Dometic side-by-side freezer cold, refrigerator not cooling

I just had a similar problem with my 2009 Dometic side by side, don't remember which model number. It was a blockage in cooling unit. I had 30 days left on my warranty, $1500 part. Service guy said it was fairly common with this referigerator. Good luck.

RE: towing behind the fifth wheel

Towing behind a fifth wheel IS legal in 31 states. I do not have a MO tag but I travel routinely through Missouri with a 38ft fiver and a Jeep Wrangler 2 door behind my F-450. My state doesn't require me to have a weight rated tag. I have never stopped at a weigh station anywhere. I DO NOT have a commercial vehicle. My trailer has a hitch rated at #3500 from factory. Only problem I can possibly see, legally, is your total length. Most states are either 65ft or 75ft total length. I am over both but have never been stopped. Just my experience. Pulling two trailers requires a little different driving techniques but CAN be done safely.

RE: Non Lippert frames

I don't know if Lippert builds good frames or not, I have one and have had no problem (yet maybe). But IF they do is it their fault your trailer broke or is it the fault of the manufacturer of your trailer. If Lippert, and all it's offshoots were gone tomorrow someone else would be building frames for your camper. And they would be building them to that companies specs. If someone was using Lippert frames and Lippert went out of business then whoever started building frames would build the same as Lippert. Lippert builds to other compaanies specs, not the other way around. If I wouldn't buy a trailer with a Lippert frame then I still wouldn't buy that trailer with a different frame either. I am not sticking up for Lippert, I just don't think they are to blame.

RE: Muskogee to Fayetteville

Highway 62 has a big downhill just east of Talequah, Ok. Its not very long but steep and has a sharp turn in middle. Rest of 62 is not bad, it is not Interstate highway but doable with your rig. If it was me I would go north on 69 out of Muskogee to I-44 to Springfield ,Mo. Then take 65 south to Branson. It would be more miles but I think it would be quicker and probably use less fuel. If you wanted to save miles, take 62 out of Muskogee to I-540 at Fayetteville then north to 412 at Springdale. From there go 412 east to US 65 north to Branson. I do not recommend taking US 62 from I-540 to US 65, it is very crooked and will be very slow going. A good compromise would be to go north on 69 to 412 (about 20 miles) and follow it to US 65 and go north to Branson.

RE: Planning a trip to Alaska

Plenty of room in the ferries to manuever a fiver BUT, depending on the tide when you load or unload, the angle of the ramp into the boat can be a problem. I've seen them use blocks and jacks to try and keep the back end of the fiver from hitting ramp when going onto boat. Seen them have to call a tow truck to get a bus off the ramp onto a boat at Sitka once. Also seen the front of trailers hit the top of the pickup bed several times. It can be done and lots of people have done it, just takes more time and work to do it during low tide. And then there is the money, you are charged by the foot. I checked two years ago and it seems like it was $2500 for my Dually and 38 ft fiver from Bellingham to Ketchikan.

RE: Towing jeep wrangler behind 5th wheel

I flat tow a 2009 Wrangler behind my 38 foot Mobile Suite fiver. I don't remember but I think I am about 72 foot long. Most states that it is legal in are 65 or 75 foot limits. I have probably towed around 25-30,000 miles this way and have never had a problem in a state that allowed it. The hitch that came on my trailer from the factory is rated at 3500 pounds and I think 500 pounds tongue weight (?). I am a little over the 3500 but pretty close. I am from Arkansas and dont need an endorsement although I do have a Federally mandated CDL which doesn't apply to non-commercial vehicles.I can barely tell my Jeep is behind me and the only thing I do different is slow down a little. You must remember you have another 15-20 foot and 3500 pounds behind you. It's not for everybody but it is not unsafe if you drive accordingly.
do you have a brake setup on the jeep? thanks
I use the Blue Ox Patroit but have it set very light. I don't want it jerking my Jeep against trailer.

RE: Cab height - older vs. newer F350?

I have a 1999 Bigfoot that will not fit without spacer in my 2008 Superduty. I think you will have plenty of room, I am not sure of the year but the newer Fords are taller than the older ones.
