RE: Older Battery SG When Full Question-Tested-Update 2

Could you not assume that if the OP's batteries can reach a full charge at 12.6 or above after 24 hours of rest, that the batteries are still in very good condition and that 50% of full charge would still be dang close to 60 Amps?

RE: Winnebago Service........NOT !!!!!

Did you try Lichtsinn as they carry a full line of replacement parts for the Winnebago line including Itasca's. I use them all the time and have never been disappointed.

RE: Brakes suddenly gone

Ford or Chevy (P30)? Sounds like fluid to me. Also when you were going down hill did you use the tranny to slow you down. A good rule of thumb is to use the same gear going down that the tranny shifted into going up. If it is real steep keep it in first gear and use your brakes to keep the RPMs down. Press hard on the brakes for a few seconds to lower the RPMs and then let the tranny hold you back until your speed picks up again and then repeat the process until you are in the clear. Windy/steep down hill 2-lane roads require ssslllooowww speeds, like < 20mph.

RE: no 12 volts for coach, help needed

If your converter was bad then you would have no 12 volts when you are plugged in to shore power. When not plugged in, your coach is getting 12 volts solely from your batteries. You need to check the life of your batteries, a fuse that is bad, the solenoid has gone bad or a bad connection at the batteries.

RE: Fridge starts, then shuts off after a minute

Sounds like the control circuit is not sensing that the flame is lit and after a short period shuts down the propane feeder valve. As mentioned above, clean out the area where the thermo sensor is hit by the flame. If that does not work than it could be the control board itself.

RE: Itasca Sunova Converter Question

I did the same as Duane. My batteries are as strong as the day I installed them. I installed 4 new 6V batteries from Sams (2007) plus the chassis 12V battery, squeezed into the existing space under the entrance steps. My Parralax Converter was behind the drawer under the fridge. I have the Itasca 35A model. Plenty of room to install the new PD Converter. You should be able to hear the fan on the converter running when you are plugged in.

We stop in St. George, lots of choices. At all costs avoid the Pilot station north of Beaver.

RE: Camping World RV Sales???

I bought our used MH from a CW in Colorado. It was 6 months old with less than 6K miles. Our sales person was great and made the experience very positive. He gave me complete access to the MH so I could the PDI. In fact he had the MH driven into one of their bays so I could use the their power and I spent 4+ hours going through the entire MH -- roof to sub chassis, front to rear. The few issues I found were fixed before we finalized the deal. We negotiated the selling price and closed the deal 2 days after I did the PDI with no hassels other then trying to sell me an extended warranty which I refused. However, I would not use their service center as I think their turn over is too high.

RE: extended warranty problem

Pretty much a standard position on this forum is to take the money you would spend on the EW and put it in a savings account for future repairs. Based on what I have read on the forums, your experience is very common. I did not buy an EW and have had no issues (so far) with my MH.

RE: New House batteries

Costco, has the same specs and dimensions as Interstate U2200. Last I looked they were in the $75 range. I have two of these and two from Sams, exactly the same specs. I installed mine in fall of 2007 and can still get 12.62 volts at full charge and at rest.

RE: Fishing License in different states

I guess I look at this slightly different. If you have a passion for fishing or other sports, you can justify the costs to satisfy your passion. Golfers are willing to pay $30 to $300 for a round of golf, skiers will pay $45 to $100 for a day of skiing so to justify the cost of a fishing license is relatively easy for me. In Colorado the DOW uses license revenue to buy up leases on private land to provide access to Gold Metal waters for ALL persons wanting to experience these fisheries. I know that other western states do the same. I also fish in FL and found I needed to buy a license to fish in the Ocean which surprised me but again I could justify it as it is my passion. At least this tax revenue is being used to improve what it is collected for. More than we can say for our US Tax Revenues.

RE: First Cross Country Trip - What do I Need to Know and Bring?

As an aside, Don't over plan your trip. It sounds like you have planned a destination trip rather than a journey to experience unplanned sights along the way. You do not want to plan 500 mile driving days to only be disappointed that you could not stop to see an interesting sight along the way.

BTW -- if you did forget something there will be plenty of stores along the way.

You can go to the WInnebago/Itasca site and look at the older model years. They have the specs including GVW there.

Your problem may be with the solenoid that is controlled by your battery disconnect switch.

RE: DP Voltage Drop under load

Any idea what the voltage is during the different phases. It is not unusual for the voltage to change but never below ~13.2Vs At startup it could go to > 14Vs and then drop off when the batteries come up to charge.

RE: Workhorse engine shuts down

When it shuts down do you loose all power to the dash, headlights, radio etc... If so it could be battery connection. If it is only the engine shutting down with all other power OK then it could be an indicator that your ECM/TCM connector(s) are loose. When it shuts down can you immediately try to start to only have the engine turn over with no start or will the starter not even turn it over?

RE: Total rookie needs help - Only 1/2 our electric working

If ALL the outlets are working did you test the outlet where the converter/inverter is plugged into? If it is, then test the output side of the inverter/converter and see if you have 12Vs.

RE: Total rookie needs help - Only 1/2 our electric working

He does say that his refer is working so he must have some 12Vs. It would make sense that if you have no Thermostat then the AC won't work. Do you have 2 12V sources? That may explain why some 12V needs are being serviced. Did you check your GFI outlets to see if one had been tripped?

RE: Total rookie needs help - Only 1/2 our electric working

I can't think of any commonality between your AC and 12V lights. Your lights are typically powered through your Converter which is plugged into an outlet. If that outlet was on a GFI circuit then I would say that GFI may have been tripped. But that has nothing in common with your AC stuff that I know of. Maybe try to solve one thing at a time. Check your GFIs first to see if one tripped.
Also do you have a Power Management panel and if so what does it read for AMP usage. Do you have one or two AC units?
