RE: Trailer Tires

More important than the letter designation is the actual weight capacity of the tire. Maxxis brand trailer tires are the best available right now. I am assuming the tires are ST tires.

RE: Ways to stay cool while tent camping

Portable A/C or high velocity fans, not those cheapo box fans. Lots of shade, cool swimming hole helps too during the day.

RE: 1st Trip of the Season...and could've gone better

I feel for your wife and I understand the issue. My wife suffers from allergies and asthma and it is a challenge. Hope she gets better soon and the next trip is more pleasant.

Sounds like a good buy to me in that condition.

RE: 2012 Ford F-150 6 Ecoboost

Is the truck a Max payload, Max Tow version?? If yes then go for it, if not you will not have enough payload

RE: 3rd vehicle strictly for towing? Need advice.

Just like in your other thread you are once again back to a larger vehicle to tow the size RV you really want. Nothing is going to change that. A 3/4 ton Van, Crew Cab truck, or SUV are the only options that make sense.

RE: It was better than I thought!

Glad it worked out for you. I suspect the biggest difference was going from a 1/2 ton vehicle to a 3/4 ton vehicle and the stability they offer. Motors that produce more power will always give better results.

RE: Increasing mileage when towing

Welcome to the Forum...your first post. None of the above will "increase your mileage"....just cost you money that you could spend on fuel. As 2oldman correctly posted, slow down. And...give up the notion of good fuel mileage and RVing. Not going to happen. Once you accept that and relax, you will enjoy it much more. x2

RE: Can either of these be 1/2 ton towed...safely?

As long as you have enough payload to account for the actual tongue weight passengers and cargo you will be OK. Whether or not you have that much payload with a 1500 Suburban is doubtful.

RE: Thanks Rv.Net.. you saved me

Good work and I bet the Tire Shop folks were looking at each other going "What the ....." Nothing more powerful than an informed customer.

RE: Did I choose the wrong gear ratio 3.73?

No, the 6 sp auto with a 3.73 is OK for all around towing under 10K. JMO

RE: Ford vs Chevy

Head to head the Ford engine has better specs. I am sure both are adequate

RE: Padded invoice on work done

$119 to diagnose the problem is probably a one hour charge for labor. The 2nd $119 is bogus IMO. How did they intend to install the new purchase without removing the other one? I would go back and try to get it back. You may want to question Marcus (CEO) on this one on his section of the forum. The St Augustine location is quickly building a reputation for bad service and unhappy customers.
