RE: bugs

They are painted lady butterflies. Killed millions of the them on a trip several years ago driving thru a migration. Turned the front of my Bounder yellow.

RE: Pulling to one side when applying brakes

It looks like you own a DP. Your problem sounds like a front wheel bearing oil wash gasket is leaking and spilling oil on the brake pads. Need a new gasket and brake pads. Not a big job.

RE: Frozen Rear Brakes

Put it in gear and rock it back and forward slow. It will break it loose. No harm done. Our diesel pusher has done this frequently past 11 years after staying in an a campground for several weeks. Never a problem. Let us know how this works.

RE: rear electrical outlet

Had it happen today when I plugged the vacuum cleaner into a ground fault protector. Tripped the ground fault and would not reset. Third time this has happened. Go to your inverter and find the phone type connector to your furnace control in the coach. Might be two of the phone plugs. Might have one or two of the voltage breakers on the inverter tripped. Reset the breakers and pull one of the phone plugs out. Then trip the two breakers back and forth on and off a few times. Put phone plug back in and go back into coach and reset ground fault. If it doesn't reset, back to the inverter and repeat process pulling the other phone plug. Back inside and reset ground fault. Mine resets with this procedure. Don't know why but was told this by factory inverter tech support years ago. Good luck, let me know if it works.

RE: AC Rattles

My guess is the adjustment bolts tightening the AC to the roof seal need to be adjusted. Take down the plastic AC cover inside the motorhome (4 short screws). Look for the four long screws at each corner that attach to the roof mount. They tighten the roof portion to the roof compressing the foam seal. Run the AC and tighten each screw a turn or two until the rattle goes away. If it doesn't you may need a new seal. Don't over tighten it. Just enough to stop rattle. Takes 5 minutes. Replacing seal is an hours work for two persons that have some mechanical knowledge. Google AC seal replacement and check it out. Good luck.

ATWOOD WATER HEATER GCH6A-10E 6 gal

Last night my water heater 2 amp fuse on the ignition control board blew. No more hot water. Cleaned all the contacts and noticed some black tar like substance oozing out of surface of the board. Burned out 3 more fuses before giving up. This has happened before and it has always been the fuse. With the damage happening to the surface of the board my guess is the board went bad but what caused it. There was low voltage from the power tower (107 volts) but not sure it had anything to do with the problem. Today at a different RV park I put a 5 amp fuse in and it worked for a few hours and failed again. Not the 5 amp fuse but more ooz double what was already present now appeared. Any thots? Maybe I"ll just replace the board but it is very expensive and if that fails I am in bigger trouble. Several mobile guys around here in Yuma so might call one of them. I do most of the service of my rig, a National Tradewinds DP, but I am lost when it comes to the electrical side of it. Thanks

RE: spare tire

Purchased a new National Tradewinds in 2001 in Sacramento Calif. No spare and started to look for one to buy. Started cross country looking at every stop and finally found my size in Nova Scotia, Canada. Have carried it for the last 11 years, 118700 miles, and not had to use it. I still would vote to carry one.

RE: A cheap month in Hawaii

Mayo30, Thanks for your reply.
Can you tell me the name of the condo units across from Dukes on Kauai. Looks like a nice area on Google maps. What did you mean by auto rentals being a challange? Thanks

A cheap month in Hawaii

Wife and I want a cheap month in Hawaii. Fulltiming for 11 years and never spent more than a week at a time there. To be there for a month it has to be cheap. Want to view the volcanos up close, Maui and Kauai. Usually go to Maui but open to adventure anywhere. 77 years old but do a lot of hiking, photos, metal detecting, snorkleing and nothing. Give me your ideas. Leaving from Las Vegas Feb 16.

RE: A QUIET place to dry camp during Quartzsite Rally

Go north on 95 from Quartzite to Plomosa Road. Turn right and drive in a few miles and then left when you do not see many RVs. Free parking on BLM land. Turn right and you pay a few bucks for a 14 day BLM permit. Soil is solid enough to land a 747 on. There will be thousands of RVs here but you can also find desolation. I love it here. We like to be in sight of others but not to close. Enjoy.

RE: Can the water tank overflow create a vacuum?

When I first purchased my 2001 Tradewinds every time I would fill the water tank from the fresh water intake valve it would overfill and dump gallons on water on the ground. I learned quickly to listen for the loud gurgle sound coming from the siphon valve ? and then turn the water off. Full tank and only a cup full of water leaking out.

RE: Motor home storage in Las Vegas

Jim, I am unable to find step five "allow all members". Why don't you give me the area, section of town that you live in. My son in law is a RE broker/agent here and can trace down potential sites. Thanks

RE: Macerator Needed

My home base septic tank is 80 feet away and I use my macerator for black tank only once a week when staying there approx. two months a year. Gray water is not a problem. Hose is one inch dia and rolls flat into a ring about 22 inches wide for storage. Other wise I would have to travel many miles to a dump site. Be sure to use a minimum 1 inch hose. Stand guard when pumping because s... happens. Good luck.

RE: Diesel warm-up at idle vs 20 mile drive

Full timer for past 11 years. We tend to stay at a few resorts each year for several months at a time. Kids and grandkids in four different states. We never start the MH while staying in CG. Will stay for two to four months at a time. 2001 National Tradewinds purchased new now with 111946 miles on it. Cat 300HP and runs like a charm. Starts every time within 3 seconds. Minimal oil use. Same with gen set. 1088 hours although a few problems with Generac 8kw unit not associated with start procedure.

RE: Salton Sea, CA.

We like Fountain of Youth Spa (FOY). Cheap dry camp area and nice hook up sections. 5 miles from Salton Sea without the smell. Loads of activities and good people to meet. A large campground.
