RE: How to research the tiny city/county campgrounds

Determine the cities you might stop in and then go to RVPark Reviews and it will give you the ones in that city or others near that one. There will be some data and usually a website for the campground. I've seldom found that a campground, no matter how small, is not listed. They are reviews by campers not adds by campgrounds.

RE: OFF clip on repellent

Never had good luck with the clip-ons. Still have them but don't use them. If walking or a light breeze then the protection will be downsind of you and the other side will be fresh meat. Spray is the best for us.

RE: Slide awning in the rain

Our slide does it only due to being a 36 inch slide. We just watch it and retract slowly after a rain. Smaller slides don't have a problem. I don't think it is slide tension as much as size. Pretty normal on a deep slide.

RE: Roof vent covers

I have 3 covers on mine and keeper them open all the time in storage and when towing. No mold issues and helps keep heat down when towing on hot days. I never have had water come in. X2

RE: Hensley Arrow questions (updated)

1. If you know the hitch real well it might be 2 - 3 hours for the install. Do it at home or on level ground 2. Yes propane tanks move or sometimes the battery box needs to move. This took the most time. 3. Assume only one chain extension if you redo the existing chain. I can explain how. Some of the new Hensley boxes have the cord extension in the box. 4. I don't use the Hitch Helper but if you want one then I can sell you mine that has not been used at all. Since you are in SE Mich then PM me and maybe I can help you with the install. Did one a couple of weeks ago for a friend.

RE: And the search continues!

One of the last Kings', other than 5th wheel units, was the Jayco 322FKS which they stopped making in 2012. Drop the King and you may find several that will fit the bill.

RE: Looking for info on Fall events in Mich & Door Cty, Wi

Many of the parks, state and private, have fall festivals right at the park.

RE: Handy Hints, Gadgets, Products & Gizmos

Found in the garden section and listed as Shade Cloth. When I got mine it was in a box of rolls standing on end in the aisle. About 3 foot tall roll of tan colored material. I'll look tomorrow at the wrapper since I now store it in that bag under the bed. Thank you all! Here is a photo of the stuff. http://inlinethumb40.webshots.com/49447/2898366370103994822S500x500Q85.jpg And a link to a larger image

RE: Handy Hints, Gadgets, Products & Gizmos

You can purchase the "sun shade" material in the garden department of Walmart. I added some grommets along the top to attach to the awning track with s hooks, but also to the bottom on the ends to use straps. Total cost was less than $20. I believe it was 15' long and 7' wide, but not positive. Did the same. Packs up real small and is very light.

RE: Celebrity Apprentice and the Good Sam Club!

Interesting so far. Still wondering what they really know of the type of people that actually use the product. Comments that we can't be pigeon holed but at the same time we all do have some very similar personality traits.

RE: Smoking

Michigan is 'no smoking' in any area that has employees. Bars, bowling, business, stores, inside or out.

A few photos and we need to remember they have been doing this since 1945. Their website in German yet you can see some more photos and the tour list including the US and Canada.

RE: Michigan Towing Length Changes

I have never seen a pickup truck pulling a semitrailer That might be this definition: "A semi-trailer is a trailer without a front axle. A large proportion of its weight is supported by a road tractor, a detachable front axle assembly known as a dolly, or the tail of another trailer. A semi-trailer is normally equipped with landing gear (legs which can be lowered) to support it when it is uncoupled." Sounds like a 5th wheel trailer in the RV industry.

Michigan Towing Length Changes

Just read this on the MARVAC FB site. "The Michigan legislature passed, and the Governor signed Senate Bill 35 into law on April 10, 2012. Under Senate Bill 35, the maximum length of a recreational vehicle (RV) that has its own power (motor home), in combination with a trailer, can be 65 feet. However, if the operator of the RV... has a group commercial motor vehicle designation on his or her operator’s or chauffeur’s license, the maximum length can be 75 feet. The Vehicle Code also specifies that a pickup truck with a towing rate equal to or greater than the weight being towed, equipped with an appropriate fifth wheel assembly, towing attached with a semitrailer designed for recreational living purposes, may tow an additional trailer or semitrailer under certain conditions. Previously, the total length of the pickup truck, semitrailer and additional trailer or semitrailer, and load could not exceed 65 feet. The bill increased the maximum combined length to 75 feet. The changes are effective immediately. The above changes can be found in Public Act 80’12 in the Michigan Vehicle Code." Doesn't affect me but it might some of the members.

RE: Electric Tongue Jacks - How do I know What Diameter to Buy?

I went and got a 3500 lb jack with a 2 inch tube, the UltraFab 3502 and it works great.
