RE: How To Center Slide

Is this something new or has it always been that way? Is the opening between the slide and wall the same from top to bottom?

RE: location of inverter for 2005 georgetown 307TS?

If you have an inverter it will be close to the batteries, if you have a converter it could be anywhere. Maybe someone with the same coach will see this and give you more info.

RE: RV Tow Car Shield

The Tow car shield is not hard to put on but it does take time to put on and take off plus you have to have a place to stow it. I have used it and now use the protect a tow, a lot easier and I leave it on the MH draped over the tow bar so when I hook up there is only 2 hooks and the cross bar to hook up, only takes a couple of minutes.

RE: Coach painting..

Feel free to spend all you want on your paint job, my suggestion is for the people that do not want or have to spend a fortune for a good paint job. You are doing a lot of talking when you have no idea what kind of job you can get in Red Bay. I have looked at many Tiffin MH's including their top of the line models and have not found one that compares to Entegra or the previous Travel Supreme MH's for quality of paint, lack of depth, number of clear coats used, and general dullness compared to a mirror finish. Years ago I worked at a Ford Assembly plant as a Paint foremen with extensive training and knowledge of painting. I participate in many car shows having cars with the best paint jobs that money can buy and you expect us to believe a $8500 paint job is comparable to $15K-$20K paint jobs? If you are satisfied, so be it but others may want something better.Like I said before, if you want to spend 20k have at it. Most of us can not afford it and the 8k will do us just fine.

RE: 2004 Bounder 38N and NADA Accuracy

The best way to find out if it is a scam is to call the seller and see if he wants a deposit before can get off work to show it. Anytime there is that much difference in price it is a scam.

RE: Coach painting..

had a club member that went to Red Bay AL to see the guy who paints motorhomes for Tiffin. They paid about $8500 for a 3 color paint job on a 2003 36ft Allegro, and got a new awning, slide toppers and the AC covers painted in the total price. He also saved himself $500 by removing all the striping and decals. And that $8500 paint job will look and last just as well as the $20,000 job. I assume that you have proof of that statement. There are so many different quality of paints that it is impossible to make any kind of a statement about how the cheapest paints will last as long as the most expensive paints. How is the surface prepped prior to painting on the cheapest paint job vrs a more expensive paint job? How thick is the coat of paint? How thick, or is there a clear coat that has UV protection? Choosing a paint job based on the price is OK when you are comparing apples to apples. The problem is that most people would not know a good paint job from a poor one and are just dazzled by the shine of a coach that was freshly painted. If you don't know the difference, by all means go with cheap. You will get what you pay for.He uses the same paint that Tiffin uses, has done the painting on new walls tiffin replaced, matched the paint perfectly. NO, you don't always get what you pay for. You can pay 20k if it makes you feel good or you can get it done for half that and probably the same paint. The painting he has done for me is as good as anyones and better than most. SO, unless you have proof otherwise you will just have to take my word for it or go to the Tiffin forum and ask people there about their experience with him. As for upgrades you can get just about anything done in Red Bay, just as good if not better than the higher priced places. Again go to the tiffin forum and ask about the work they have done there. Look at the paint on the early Zephyrs, he did all of the painting on them and all I see look just as good now as they did 11 to 12 years ago. And it didn't cost 20k. If you think that a cheap paint job is as good as a good high quality paint job, than good for you. Right now, with various EPA regulations, paint can run from $50/gallon for******to $2000+/gallon. Good people, that do the prep work, which is more important than the guy with the spray gun, do not come cheap. This is where most shops put the trainees and hope they do a good job. Why would I want to talk with a bunch of check writers at the Tiffin forum? I'm sure that none of them are paint experts, even if they had their coach painted and it looks great to them. Most paints used 10-12 years ago, are probably no longer allowed by the EPA, so how good they look today, and how long a current paint job will last, depends on the material available TODAY. An $8500 paint job on a full size RV means that at some point in the process they cheaped out. Maybe it was the preparation, which is most likely, or they used a less expensive primer or a less expensive paint. The again, they just may have sprayed a thin coat of finish paint over a tinted primer, thus keeping the total material cost down. Or they may have put a thin clear coat on top of the final finish which cuts the UV protection and saves money? Having been all over the country with Classic and exotic car shows and auctions, I can tell you that an $8500 paint job, on an automobile, is about right for a basic finish on an average car. It will look OK, but next to a high quality paint job, it will look mediocre. I hear that they also do cheap paint jobs in Mexico. :B As a former automotive painter himself, GabJam, above post, gave a more realistic figure for an RV paint job.Feel free to spend all you want on your paint job, my suggestion is for the people that do not want or have to spend a fortune for a good paint job. You are doing a lot of talking when you have no idea what kind of job you can get in Red Bay.

RE: What is the easiest way to remove 3-m mask.

I don't know why my Diamond shield was different than the others but mine came off with no problem. I started at a corner and peeled it off. The biggest problem was a corner where the sun had warmed it and it left a lot of adhesive, the rest peeled off clean. I would start at a top corner and see if you can peel it off with no heat on it, it takes more effort pulling but does not leave any adhesive to clean up.

RE: tiffin zephyr vs foretravel

Well as a Foretravel owner I guess I am biased but you have to drive one to understand. I had a Monaco before the Foretravel and while it was adequate it does not compare. I have driven many coaches and only the Newell rivals the Foretravel in ride and handling. Are the new ones over priced, I am sure they are. My 2006 Phenix was bought in March 0f 2009 with only 9000 miles on it and I paid less than 50% of what the coach was priced at when brand new. What other brand has as many older models still out there being lived in than Foretravel. There is a reason. Tiffin has a good rep and Bob will take care of you no doubt. I have 24 hr tech help by phone with Foretravel and the guys you talk to know most of the info without looking it up. You will not find many folks who have had a Foretravel and then went to another brand.Another way to look at it is the original owner could have bought and paid for a new Zephyr just for the loss in depreciation of the new Foretravel in only 3 years. That comes out to about $150,000 to $200,ooo a year. I guess if you buy and pay for a new Foretravel that is no big deal, if you have to finance it you are in big trouble.

RE: Coach painting..

If you want to make a trip south to Red Bay AL you can get an excellent full body paint job for about $7500. You have your choice of colors and as many stripes as you want. If you have slides he charges about $500 each, that is for painting and striping the ends of the slides. There is no reason to pay $15k to $20k for a paint job. Use the money you save to put on the interior which you can also get done in Red Bay for a decent price and excellent work.

RE: Cat 3126 air filter

The filter should have some restriction, the paperwork that came with my new filter says it has 5" restriction. On my minder it looks like it is on the bottom but is actually on 5.

RE: Determining motorhome value

I should have clarified this a bit. I'm dealing with a private seller, not a dealer, and am just trying to get a feel for what the coach is worth. When I look at this model in the classifieds there is a very wide range of prices, all the way from $70,000 up to $150,000! I just don't understand how there can be that much variation for the same model! :hSimple answer is sellers price it at what they think it is worth, some need to sell and lower the price, some think they want to sell if they can get what they think it is worth which can be a lot higher than actual value. If you are buying use NADA price with no options and negotiate to what you are willing to pay. There are lots of companies that are paying cash for motorhomes, have the seller call one of them to see what they offer, the NADA price with no options will good then. What options does it have that is not listed by NADA? Do those options increase the value to a buyer or does the seller think it does because he spent the money to add them.

RE: Need advice on aquiring Aqua Hot

I've always heard that it's too expensive to add to a coach after the fact. But, I'm not a tech or mechanic. Our Aqua-Hot system works very well and I'm pleased with it. I'm not sure why the previous poster above thinks it's so loud. Ours is very quiet inside with all three zones going. You do hear a hum outside at the exhaust. I've never had anyone complain about the diesel exhaust smell.... but then again, I wouldn't operate it if we're fairly close to anyone as I can use the electric feature and also use the roof heat pumps. I really don't think any of my neighbors would ever say our system is bothersome noise-wise. I also have our Aqua-Hot system cleaned every year with the installation of the new nozzle and fuel filter. Our nozzle from last year looked like brand new. So, I was wondering if every year is necessary to perform service. MM.mine has not been serviced in 4 years, there is no smoke and is pretty quite. BUT I don't use the diesel burner that much so it doesn't have that many hours on it. Like all maintenance items talked about on here it is better to go by hours instead of time, it all depends on how many hours you use it a year.

RE: Moisture between glass in door

Chastho, Warranty just expired as I took deliverly in 08. Got two other insurance policies--one told me if it was cracked they would replace it,today there are no cracks, the other plan said no way- maint item.Wait a couple of months and just maybe a crack will appear. There is a company here in Searcy, AR that repairs the windows. Don't know how big your window is but cost will probably be $200 or less. They have a web site, I think the name is the fog doctor.

RE: 1998 Allegro Bus Air Brake Filter Dryer

Are you getting any moisture in the air tanks?? The dryer will spit every so often to eject moisture, when the filter gets saturated it will every few minutes. If you don't have a problem with any of the above I wouldnt worry about changing it.
