RE: Route 66

Springfield IL has some Route 66 memorabilia including the Cozy Dog where corn dogs are a staple and you can stay at Double J campground right on 66 but just off I-55. Williams AZ is one of the best preserved towns along the route which, by the way, is two lane. Don't forget Seligman, a little west of Williams. Be sure and stop at the Road Kill cafe!! Also have Grand canyon Caverns along there. Dave At Seligman stay on 66 to Kingman good 2 lane road we go that way all the time, get Gas in Flagstaff as GAS is about .40 or 50 cents higher in Willams & Seligman , also take a car trip from Kingman to Oatman no the RV

RE: Highway 89 South to North. Arizona to Montana

Hwy 89 from Prescott north to Ashfork is good 2 lane road no hills hwy 89 from Willhoit north to Prescott over the mountain has a lot of curves but can be bypassed ( about 8 miles pass Yarnell the turn off on the left goes thru Skull Valley & Iron Springs is good 2 lane road , we go that way all the time from Chino Valley to So. Calif. P.S do not try Hwy 89A from Prescott to Cottonwood or Sedona to Flagstaff they are both nice trips in the Car but not in the Motorhome have a good trip Bob & Judy

RE: Is 8' too wide for todays highways

On the whole, our roads are wider than they've ever been. Go to IL. or MO. and drive an old section of RT 66. You won't complain anymore about todays road widths. Mark do not try it on the part of hwy 66 between Oatman & Kingman AZ bob & judy

RE: Is 8' too wide for todays highways

the more you drive it ( motorhome)or pull it (trailer) the more you will get use to it and it will become EASY In 1960 I had pulled a lot of trailers so so i bought a trailer towing truck and got a class A lic. & went to the Vesper trailer transport co in Long Beach Ca.and got a job. the First Trailer they had me pick up at the factory to take to the dealer was ( 10 ft wide 55 ft long mobil home after I hooked up to it i looked back in the mirrow and said to myself ^%$#@$#$%^^& . after the first week i would sooner pull a 55 ft 10 wide than a small travel trailer I spent the next 6 years doing this about 6000 miles per week Bob & Judy IT WILL GET EASY

RE: which route would you take

You Are talking about the hwy from Bullhead City To Kingman Az I dont how long ago it was when you drove hwy 68 from Bullhead City but we use it all the time going to bullhead it is a very good 4 lane div. hiway about 6% grade towing a jeep uphill i dont need to shift down climb it about 30 to 40 mph downhill I coast down in high when I get to 52 mph I touch brakes to slow down to about 40 mph do this all the down the hill Bob & Judy P.S. by going thru Bullhead City you can save a lot by getting gas in Bullhead City
