RE: Interesting Tire Decision, Opinions Welcome

With the Maxxis you can probably wait on the TPMS. I wouldn't have the Towmasters without the TPMS. Seems like the Maxxis are a better deal to me.

If you bought a Forest River Product you can double your one year warranty for $150. Otherwise, I would pass.

RE: What Shocks To Get For The Truck?

This place can usually give you all the info you need and a decent price. Bilsteins seem to be popular but ask for their opnion on your situation. Usually have free shipping. Check them out if just for info.

RE: Internal Refrigerator Fan

I think they are worth it. You could put one together yourself, but for the price, why bother? I've had one for over 4 years and it's still going. I like it better than the square box fan you can use because I don't have to turn this one on or worry about batteries.

RE: yellow plastic vent -- paint it?

Before you paint it go to the Dollar Store (or Walmart) and get some "Awesome" spray cleaner(degreaser). Try that before you go thru all the hassle of painting it.

RE: No hot water

The electric heating element is not on all water heaters. That was usually an option on some and mostly in later years.
You might be right. I didn't notice it was a 1999 unit. It could be propane only.

RE: No hot water

Just for the record...It sounds like you have a Suburban heater and the switch to go to electric is outside on the heater unit. Black toggle switch on the left kind of hidden by the propane line. Don't turn to on unless you have water in the tank. If you have shore power, it's cheaper for you to use "their" elctricity to heat the water rather than "your" propane. Not quite as fast recovery time if taking multiple showers.

RE: Cookware

We cook with cast iron at home and while camping. We do use a non stick pan for eggs but the more you use cast iron the more non stick it becomes. That looks like a great set for the price. With 2 frying pans, a dutch oven and a griddle you should be able to do about anything you want.

RE: Wise

Unfortunate. I haven't seen a negative post about them. Maybe a "nice" note to them about the lack of customer service that has been so highly touted and not received would be a gentle wake up call.

If you are talking about sewer hoses you can get Valterra or Rhino online alot cheaper than the dealer. Ask him to throw them in.

RE: BD Diesel varible vane exhaust brake

Reprogramming the ECM is the easiest way to go. The person programming it can write a tune specific to your needs. Killerbee fixes the DIC so it shows true MPG, adds the exhaust brake etc. You can set up a switch to toggle between several tunes and always have your stock tune to go back to if you need to pass a smog test in certain states. I prefer KillerBee, but there are others out there with great skills. IdahoRob on the the diesel forums is a standout also.
