RE: Beware in keys

I just wanted to post this ihad to have my class a motor home towed 25 miles it was in the middle keys in florida i had it towed because of a problem with a park manager . i had no tow insurance or did not know it was being towed i was charged 2200.0 to tow to marthon florida they said they had to remove the drive shaft and that the price was resonable does this sound right or didi get taken ,and they only would except cash . i now have good sam just in case i would break down .please rvers have insurance and be wary of the buisness they prey on people just because we have toys
What occurred was vehicle theft. Call or go to the sheriff and file charges.

RE: Carryout & Vuqube Security

On the Carrout they have a camouflage model, I have wondered if that is useful to make it less seeable? Also I wonder if you could paint a white one or would that affect the signals it receives....
How could you find it if the camo was good enuff to hide it from bad guys?

I could be rich all that is needed is for 1,000,000 people to send me $1.00 each. They would never miss a dollar and they would be able to say they helped make a millionaire.

RE: Whidbey Island, WA

Deception Pass State Park is well over 40 miles from Freeland which is in the south center of the Island, not what you could call close.
Park overview:
South Whidbey Island State Park is a 347-acre camping park with 4,500 feet of saltwater shoreline on Admiralty Inlet. Park features include old-growth forest, tidelands for crabbing and clamming, campsites secluded by lush, forest undergrowth and breathtaking views of the Puget Sound and Olympic Mountains. The park offers a unique outdoor experience.
Is Deception Pass the driveable entrance to Whidbey? I've been to Whidbey several times do not recall if I drove once? I do recall the pass, it is beautiful. Saw my first Bald Eagle there.
Ferry costs would be unbearable for a 35; with a toad.

RE: Onan Generator aint Genning

Thank all of you so much. Will attempt to find those on generator breakers and switch. Any hints as to where they may be?
it would help a lot if we knew what Onan you have!
If it were where I am I would have included it is stored 50 miles away. It is green and we have a 30 amp 2000 Pace Arrow 35'.

RE: Carryout & Vuqube Security

Hi All.
No problem for our Vu-Qube. We put ours on top of our Motohomes Roof. We also have a Luggage Rack on Top, so we use a Cable Lock, it doesn't go any where.
Good Luck. Happy Travels. Dan & Jill
How do you get it to receive under trees or other blockage? We have a roof top automatic and it is useless under trees, has to have a clear shot at sw skies
Hi All.
We mostly do all Boondocking. If there are to many trees in the way, we can move the Vu-Qube to a different location. But usually, we only have to leave the very rear of our Motorhomes exposed to the SW to get a very clear picture.
The rest of the Motorhome stays in the shade, and stays very comfortable. We also have our Motorohome very well set-up for reducing the sun.
All of our Windows, except for the Windshiel and Driver's and Passenger's Windows has the "Very Dark Limo Tinting" on them.
We also have "Solar Screens" for our Motorhome, that I made myself. So I can put them on the outside of the windows, or on the inside of the windows.
Most of our Boondocking, is up in the Higher Mouuntains in the Summer months, so the Heat issues isn't that much to deal with.
Thats one of the reasons we didn't want a Front Roof Top Mounted Sat Recivier. The Front area of a Motorhome is always the Hottest part to deal with. So we always have our front in the shade.
We bought our Vu-Qube for very little, as it was a Demo at an RV Place.
I should have stated, that the "Lock Cable" we use, is more for the Vu-Qube not being able to be blow off the roof, as it is so light weights anyways.
Good Luck. Happy Travels. Dan & Jill
"Very Dark Limo Tinting"
thanks never thought of that.

RE: Carryout & Vuqube Security

How do you secure it when in use 50 feet from your RV?
Hand grenade with a trip wire. Of course it's a fake one but does get the idea across.
Claymore much better, get them and all the other pests.

RE: Experience with protective shields for towing behinf RV

I have a road master guardian rock shield to give away. It was given to me and is taking up space in my shed. I tow a smart car on a trailer so have never had use for it. It is missing all the pins etc but the three main pieces are fine. Condition, Black :) No I won't ship, no I won't take any money. Just get them out of my shed. :)
I think its supposed to look something like this when it is on. The pieces are very light and tough.

Here is a picture of the three pieces in our driveway. Angela thought maybe she would try and sell them online. I on the other hand just want them out of the shed and not in a landfill. :)

I wonder if I am going to get into trouble for trying to give something away on the forum. Not sure of the rules in this situation. hmmm
Where are you in Canada? Are you coming south this summer? I'm in Ohio.

Onan Generator aint Genning

The engine of our generator runs but it is not sending electricity to the Motor Home. Any solutions? It appears all circuit breakers are proper. I can not find one on the generator.

RE: Experience with protective shields for towing behinf RV

We did a long trip last summer (6000+ miles) and trashed the paint and broke the windshield on our nearly new Wrangles due to some bad roads. We have a flap on the back of the MH, but I am wondering now if the flap actually caused most of the damage. I suspect that when you hit a bump in the road, the flap contacts the ground and kicks up anything that is on the road.
I added a bra, but it still leaves the fenders and bumper exposed on the Wrangler. I was in the middle of designing a custom guard similar to the Protect-a-tow, but my wife suggested simply removing the flap instead. That seams to be the best solution.
Its strange, however, that if the flap is causing all the damage, why are RV manufactures putting them on?
How fast were you driving on bad roads?

RE: Teenager At Home and RVing

Never, a 15 year old any 15 year old in not mature enough to make the adult decisions necessary to stay alone for any period of time more than a few hours.
Both my Daughters were babysitting for others when they were 15. Even younger!
I guess every parent as well as the child in question is different.
You ignored the "few hours."
