RE: air compressor question

No I have a little more consideration in blowing my horns. Generally only used for those wonderful drivers who like to pull in front of you from the on ramp. They don't have a clue. This WAS NOT me Enjoy the road this year. RVing is a blast. bigdon68

RE: air compressor question

I also went to 17.5" tires on our trailer which need 125 psi. I also tried the Porter Cable pancake compressor but it was just not fast enough. So, since I run an Air Hitch, I have an Air bottle jack, I like to use air tools I decided to put an air system on my truck. I installed a 200 PSI VIAIR system -- 2 compressors (mounted on the frame), 2 tanks (5 gallons each). I have air hose connections on each tank. AND since I had all of this air I put a 150 psi regulator on one tank and installed a set of TRAIN HORNS. They are awesome. A little overkill -- but really cool. Enjoy the road -- I do. bigdon68

RE: Air hitch or air pin box?

I have an AIR SAFE hitch and Mor Ryde IS Suspension. The ride is fantastic and the hitch has been great. Have had the hitch now for 6 years without a problem. You pay more for an Air hitch but you always pay more for quality. Enjoy. bigdon68

RE: Outer Skin Bubble

fordsooperduty You will probably find out that it is poor application of the fiberglass at the factory (delamanation) and now, due to pressure from the wind and road bounce it is breaking loose. I had a serious problem on my 5th wheel where the cap would actually sink in from the pressure of the wind. If I did over 50 MPH it would just cave in. When you stopped it would just pop out. Weird. Go to MY PICTURES below and see what I had to do to fix it. Fortunately my closet is there and I could get access to the cap. It is going to be a tough fix but will probably have to be done from the inside -- unless you want to get into taking the cap off. Good luck. Bigdon68

RE: cost of new hitch

OK, so we finally purchased a Jayco 26.5, now we need the hitch placed in the F250, the dealer where we purchased the 5er obviously wants to install it, what would be a reasonable cost to allow him to do that? Would it be less expensive to go to another place to have it installed, we drive a f250 diesel, weight and everything is in line. thanks kld It is not that difficult to install yourself. Just do the measurements, drill the holes and bolt in the rails. I did that for my AIRSAFE hitch and it was a pretty straightforward job. Good Luck. Bigdon68

RE: aux fuel tank 2011 f-350 dually

RAINYTXX I have an ATTA 45 gallon auxiliary tank that fits under my rolltop cover. Works like a champ and has for the past 3+ years. It has been in and out of the dealer and never had a warranty problem or even a question about the install. I did have a problem with the pump that ATTA supplied but they have upgraded their pumps to a much bigger pump. Their is nothing like an auxiliary tank. No longer are you help hostage to the fuel gauge -- you can stop whenever you like to get fuel. Check out MY PICTURES. I did the install myself. bigdon68

RE: insurance with total loss option

We have Progressive with Total Replacement Coverage and our premium is around $500 annually. Don't forget that when you do upgrades don't forget to let the insurance company know. Enjoy the road. Bigdon68

RE: Tire Inflation

I have the same XTA 17.5 inch, load range J trailer Michelin tires on our 5th wheel. I did a lot of research on this before I switched from the 16" tires and wheels. I spoke with a Michelin "rep" and he said what I had always believed --- run the maximum pressure as stated on the sidewall. In this case it is 125 psi. These tires wear and ride very well. Good luck with you new ride. Bigdon68

RE: Mor/Ryde IS Suspension System?

Ford Truck Guy, The system installed was $4700 and that was with the new wireless panel upgrade and the key fob. Our system was for a 40 ft. 5th wheel so it had (4) 17,000 lb. cylinders. If I had known when I had the IS System and the disc brakes installed I could probably have negotiated a better deal. They are well worth it. No more tripod in the front and very little movement. Enjoy. Bigdon68

RE: Mor/Ryde IS Suspension System?

Just thought I would say a few words. We had our IS System installed (8,000 lb. axles) in June of 2011 and like everyone else -- it is absolutely fantastic. We also had the disc brakes installed. As we were leaving I found out the also install BIGFOOT LEVELERS. We got those put on in November 2011. Got the latest edition with the Key Fob. Cool MorRyde has the best customer service you will ever fine. Ben is just fantastic. Enjoy the install. You won't believe it. Bigdon68

RE: Tire Recommendation

Yes, Goodyear paid the entire $6K. I really didn't expect Goodyear to pay a dime. I didn't buy Michelins with the idea that I would have a problem. I feel pretty confident about my research and my tires and wheels. I don't remember to many people on this site complaining about their Michelins blowing out. Enjoy the road this year --- I will. bigdon68

RE: Tire Recommendation

Two years ago one of my 614's blew out and caused $6K in damage. I also had the 16" load range E tires. I decided to give myself the best security blanket I could so I got the 17.5" Michelins -- Load Range J tires. Tire pressure is 125 psi so you will need a compressor that can handle that. These are commercial grade tires -- the same kind that are used on construction trailers. Expensive ----- YES ------ great feeling going down the road -- priceless. I got mine at Rickson Rickson Truck Wheel - Hunt Valley, Maryland Bigdon68

RE: Backing Up to Engage Hitch

I can say that is one time that being 6'8" comes in handy. Just look in the rear view mirror. Bigdon68

RE: 7 way in truck bed?

02Super250 Check MY PICTURES below. I ran my plug from under the truck and up through the driver side rear taillight and into the bed. Take a look. It worked out real well. Be safe. Bigdon68

RE: Engine Hoist to remove hitch

Check out MY PICTURES below. We have an air ride hitch -- a lot heavier than most -- but it gives us a great ride. I use a hoist set up that I got from Harbor Freight -- goes on the beam in the garage. Works great. Also, helps when you have sons that like to pull engines out of cars. Be safe. Bigdon68

RE: question about mor ryde independent suspension

Well I will jump in with the rest. We had the IS suspension put on our 2007 Ameri-Camp Summit Ridge Reserve along with disc brakes about 1 year ago. Absolutely the best upgrade we have ever done. You won't believe the ride -- it is great. I'll never forget the ride home after if was installed. We pulled into the campground and went over two sets of speed bumps. The truck, as usual, went over the bumps hard -- because of the still suspension. We were waiting for the feeling of the trailer going over the speed bumps and never felt it. It just glided over the bumps. That Independent Suspension is really something. Good luck and enjoy the ride. bidon68

RE: Planning a refit

I like your thinking and I am also one who likes to redo things myself. It is that feeling of satisfaction with a "job well done". One thing I would ask you to consider is taking care of under the trailer. Invest in a MorRyde IS suspension and disc brakes. It is a little pricy but well worth the investment. Keep us up to date with your progress and show us some pictures. Good luck, bigdon68

Campground near Oak Hill, WV ???

We are going on a volunteer mission trip in June to Oak Hill, WV. We are looking for a campground that will take our 40ft. 5th wheel and has 50 amp service. It looks like a real challenge but I hope someone who knows the area can help us out. Thanks, bigdon68

RE: 6.4l

My 2008 F350 6.4 SRW has been a great truck. Look at my signature and see what I tow -- a 40 footer. It does a great job. This was one of the first 6.4's out. I got this truck in February of 2007 and it has towed great ever since. Go for it and maybe we will see you on the road. bigdon68

RE: trailer tire blowout damage. need repair info

Same for me. Goodyear sent me a check for $6,000 to fix my damage and replace the tire. It is certainly work the effort to submit a claim. Take lots of pictures before you do anything. Good luck. bigdon68
