RE: A/C freezing up

Most common problem is inadequate air flow. Clean the filter, check for obstructions, run fan on high. Second possibility is low refrigerant which means a trip to the dealer for warranty replacement.

RE: I Don't Think I Am Thick...

The term inverter is used commonly across many fields. There really shouldn't be any confusion there. The confusion is that the term converter is primarily used only in the RV industry, anywhere else it would be called a power supply. Some units combine the breakers, and fuses in the same cabinet. After doing that it is even more confusing because in reality it is a power center/power supply/battery charger all wrapped in one cabinet and called a converter!

RE: Converting electric brakes hookup to a 4 pin trailer hookup

...I also looked up the Blackbird Brake controller. It is a time-based unit! Don't waste your money, get a proportional inertia/pendulum/deceleration based controller such as a Tekonsha Prodigy for about $60 more. They apply as much brake as is needed WHEN you need it. Time based units DO NOT apply full brake force right away in an emergency stop, but DO apply full braking after maybe 5 seconds of slowing down. Maybe better than NO controller, but not much! Absolutely agree. If you buy a time based controller now you will buy a Prodigy in the future. It would be cheaper to buy the Prodigy first. I got mine for less than $100 on the web.

RE: Converting electric brakes hookup to a 4 pin trailer hookup

First off, if you list your trailer in your profile or a signature line we would know what you are talking about. Other than it being a pup, we have no idea what you have or how much it weighs. What is the GVWR of the pup? What is your tow vehicle? My Aliner has a GVWR of 2,000# and it does weigh 2,000# fully loaded. I am not required to have trailer brakes. The legal requirement is a minimum, it certainly doesn't hurt to go above and beyond the minimum. You seem determined to go against the advice you are receiving here. That is your choice. I can't imagine not having a battery. The best camping is in the boonies and trees don't provide electrical hook ups. You will ultimately be much happier if you install a brake controller for less than $100 and a battery for maybe $75. I can only guess that the module you are referring to is a brake controller. The brake controller has nothing to do with a charge line for the RV. You may need a module to operate the trailer lights. If your tow vehicle has separate turn signals you will probably need a module to operate the tail, turn, and brake lights on the trailer. I've already hauled it a couple times with no hookup at all... Are you saying that you are towing without lights? Very, very, dangerous and illegal.

RE: A-liner people!

Welcome, here are some links that can be of help to you; http://alinerownersclub.org/ This is an email group that is a great place for info; http://autos.groups.yahoo.com/group/alinerchaleta-frames/ The late 1990's and early 2000's had some problems with rotten floors. The factory changed the materials used and it isn't a problem now. I think the first year for the new materials was 2003 but I'm not sure. Some models do have light tongue weight although under 100 is unlikely except for a stripped trailer. What model are you looking at? Some also had issues with frame flex. BTW, even though the miss-spelling is very common it is Aliner, not A-liner. The manufacturer is Columbia Northwest in PA. http://www.aliner.com/

RE: Converting electric brakes hookup to a 4 pin trailer hookup

Having brakes is better than not having them. Check the laws in "Somewhere, USA" as to the legal requirements for trailer brakes. Usually it is based on the GVW of the trailer. It is unclear what you are calling "standard". Are you wanting to adapt a 7 pin connector on the trailer to a 4 pin connector on the tow vehicle? It can be done but you will also be losing the charge line in addition to the brakes.

RE: What's up with the Roadstar Antenna?

My Roadstar works great. Either you have a defective antenna or your installation/operation is wrong. I'm currently trying to find a smaller version of the Roadstar for my folding trailer.

RE: Do i need a 12v battery to tow my trailer to the campground?

Like said, the emergency breakaway system requires a battery. If your trailer is heavy enough to require brakes in your state it would be illegal to tow without the battery making the breakaway system nonfunctional.

Great looking trailer, enjoy! Three cheers for M. Lemonis for going above and beyond what was necessary. http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-BXmjqJA9S3I/TrWLS50ekqI/AAAAAAAAATE/XE-33au7VHU/s1600/smiley_with_thumbs_up.gif height=240

Trailerlife.tv

I just discovered this source of informative videos. Like all things Good Sam/Camping World/Trailer Life I am sure it has plenty of product ads. However it looks like a good free source of information. http://www.trailerlife.tv/ Maybe it will be helpful to some.

RE: Side mirror on truck

Glue them in the outward position, maybe? I'm just messing with you, I really don't know. Welcome to the forum. Some of us use McKesh mirrors or Camping World has a wide selection of mirrors. It sounds like you may have to use a different mirror system. http://www.safetowingstore.com/McKesh-Mirrors-p/70007.htm

RE: Memorial day

Where is everyone going for Memorial day... Nowhere, we will be staying home and planting our garden. We seldom camp on the big holiday weekends because that is when all the amateurs/crazies are camping.

RE: How do you secure your breakaway cable to your hitch?

...What are you guys using to secure your breakaway cable to your hitch... I don't. I attach the cable to the TV with a light duty chain attached to a frame cross member. If the receiver comes off the tow vehicle and the cable is attached to the receiver or hitch it will not activate. I believe it is a tad safer to have it attached directly to the tow vehicle. I also believe it is safer to have the cable independent of the safety chains. I don't like the practice of threading it through the chains.

RE: Need advice please

Thanks for the update, it is good to hear you now have a useable rig. You still need to be aware of your ratings and weights. I hope you stopped at the scales on the way home and got an accurate weight. Make sure you get it weighed when heading out on a trip with full water and gear. Also know that the air bags and sway control do NOT change the vehicle's tow ratings although they can definitely improve the towing experience.

RE: accumulator

Yes. So if cut in PSI is 25, with system depressurized, inflate to 23 PSI.Does this mean that you have to add air to the accumulator tank using an air pump or a compressor? Yes unless you've got really strong lungs to blow into the Schrader valve! :BI just asumed that they worked the same as the pressure tank on my well at home. I guess this is one mod I'll pass on. I do mostly CG style camping so unless I start doing a good bit of dry camping I don't need it. You only set the pressure once. Mine has been in use for around six years without even checking the pressure. Once set you don't need to mess with it unless something changes.

RE: If you dont travel with the FW tank full???

I carry my own known good water. The TH holds 100 gallons for a weight of over 800 pounds. Doesn't really make much difference towing. There are lots of places to get water. Campgrounds, gas stations, truck stops, rest areas, the list is endless. Buy yourself a "Water Thief" so you can attach a hose to a faucet without threads.

RE: Is Hi-Lo back?

Bill Kerola announced last year that they had purchased HiLo and patents, tooling, etc. I don't know if any production has started yet. I'm sure it takes time to get everything going.
