RE: Coach-net

So...bottom line is that you were calling their "Concierge Service" for assistance in finding a repair service and you were expecting them to call you back with a time and place?

RE: Wrecked my 96 Dynasty, need advice!

Tom...be careful what you post about the incident on a public forum. As an example, you opening statement makes it sound like it was your fault. Until all the facts are in, someone could take advantage of what you have to say. Get with your own insurance agent and discuss the situation. Take pictures of both the damage and if possible where the accident occurred. Work with your own insurance company for advice. Just my opinion.

RE: rv pranks?

i was teasing my wife while camping in dutch wonderland, when she wasnt looking i put one of our walkie talkies behind the toilet. after waiting a while she went into the bathroom and i keyed up the radio and said "hey, cut that out were working down here" after the scream she let out i thought we would get thrown out of the campground. that night i slept on the couch. Whatever you do, don't put saran wrap over the toilet bowl and put the lid down over the top of it....the couch could become your permanent home.

RE: Tire pressure versus tire age

Don't try to guess. Go and have your rig weighed and then go to the manufacturers charts (goodyear or michelin have them online) and determine what you should run in them. Drive axle will call for less pressure than steer axle in most cases. http://www.michelinrvtires.com/michelinrv/tires-retreads/load-inflation-tables.jsp

RE: Onan Generator overheating

PFGull49 Here is where I got some information about only one belt. This came from a thread over on a race group. Have you heard anything about this change? "JFYI, ran into this last month out of town.,12.5 quiet deisel. Watch for maintance on the fan and alt belt. Onan doesn't recommend messing with them until they break, because the labor is the same. Just had the fan belts break a month ago out of town. Had to overnight the parts and change at a campgound. If the coach would have been home it would have been easier to pull the complete generator.Onan does not sell the fan belt anymore, they replaced the fan drive belt with a kit for $300 . The fan itself is no longer driven by the belt off the water pump, it is retrofitted with a direct drive coupling. The water pump and alt is still driven by one belt the second belt that drives the fan is no longer needed. This Onan has a Kubato engine. To sum it up, check your belts."

RE: Onan Generator overheating

Check the belts. The 10K genset has 2 belts. Make sure the one turning the water pump isn't broken. Where is the 2nd belt on the 10kw. I am only seeing the water pump drive belt. Possibly an older model than I am looking at? http://www.rvtechlibrary.com/generator/Onan10KWparts.pdf

RE: Excel for keeping maintenance records?

Here is one I use that sends me a reminder when maintenance is due. Not too difficult to use and there is a help page if I remember correctly. http://www.rvtodo.com/cgi2/mhwhelp?menu=start

RE: She's Gone....

Good information Don. I especially like the part about being upfront with buyers as that is something a dealer can choose not to do, especially on a consignment unit. I like the idea of buying from a private owner but you have to know what to look for. A clean battery compartment is a good start but crawling around underneath is very important also. As I am in the process of selling my 05 dynasty, I have done the same things...keeping it clean, up to date in maintenance, etc. I have chosen not to use craigslist due to all the scams and brokers you have to deal with. Congratulations on your sale and I am sure someone got a quality and well cared for unit.

I installed this in my FL home and it works as advertised. Just make sure you get the right model for your A/C system. http://thebestservice.net/dehumidistats.aspx

RE: Allison Transynd fluid/filter change

Just double check the torque placed on the bolts....some shops have been known to strip out the threads in the aluminum housing.

RE: It's love bug time again on the Gulf Coast. UGGH

My friends told me they were being studied at a University when they got out into the general population. It happened in Lake Alfred, FL close to Winter Haven at the Experiment Station. They have move all the way over to Mississippi now. Their only natural enemy is the windshield. Supposed Folklore about the Experimental Station....http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lovebug

RE: I Bagged a "Turkey"

Wow, amazing! Glad that the both of you weren't hurt! There is another RV.net member that had this happen to his class-A and he posted pics too. Our exit door will not open until the air brakes are released as we have a seal around the door that fills with air. I guess we could toss it out a window! MM. Mark, Have you tried opening your door with the air brake off and on. I think I have the same system that you do and I can open mine with both the air brake on and off...makes no difference. The seal just expands against the joint but I don't believe it keeps the door from opening unless something changed in the design between 2005 and 2008 in the Dynasty.

RE: Tighten (Roof A/C)

This is from one of the dometic manuals on their ac/heat pump model: "Evenly tighten mounting bolts to compress gasket to 1/2" this will be a torque of 40 - 50 inch pounds. The bolts are self locking so over tighten- ing is not necessary." I would go by the 1/2" if you don't have an inch pound torque wrench. As your unit is about 10 yrs old and if the gasket has never been replaced, now would be a good time to replace it. It is not a hard job if you have an extra person on hand. Do a search on google for your make and model and you will find an installation sheet with directions. Good luck.

RE: one yr. report Red Max 3

More details please. How was the coach stored (inside or outside)? What part of the country was it stored if outside? Stored out in the open or under trees? How much on the road time during the year? What have you been using to wash it with? Thanks for the update.
