RE: NAPA DEF sale

any idea how to tell how much is left in the tank? Tank was full when I got it new, so far I have added 2 21/2 gal jugs. So so far 10 gals and have driven over 17000 miles. I sometimes wonder if the thing works. And how do you know when the thing regenates? Real curious.

RE: Problem with Onan4000 Emerald Plus not starting

a wire from the fuel pump to the nut right there by the pump where the battery connects. You should feel it cliking and hear it also. I bet you are low on fuel. I put a extra 8 gal (custom made stainlees steel) tank in just for the genny.

RE: Water Heater boiling over

Around $9 at any hardware, HD or Lowes. They are pretty much the same except for the length of the probe. They come in 3/4 and 1/2 " sizes very rare you will have a 1/2 one, but if it's old enough? get the old one out first. In8 years on present rig changed 2.

RE: dometic microwaves rebranded?

My Dometic is a LG. I think it is a better unit than My Ge in the house. If it went bad, I would attempt to repair it as it is a 24" over the range with a rear vent. You can't get that at Wally World.

RE: I need advice on Propane Bottles

Nobody has ever looked at the stamp on mine (30#) and it's approaching it's limit. When I needed 20# tanks I always went to an exchange and swapped tanks. Let them worry about it. Haven't figured out what to do when the 30#'s can't be filled. Probably steal someone elses JUST KIDDING.

RE: Ways to make the jack-knife sofa/bed more comfortable?

Throw it out and buy a good Futon. My stupid sofa wasn't even good for sitting on let alone sleeping on. It's in some landfill and maybe a new fender on your car.

Poor quality construction

Now I now why when I removed a ceiling vent to replace it with a Fan tas tic fan there was no insulation around the hole. Last night I watched a 2 hour special on PBS about the Amish. It showed a guy putting in the ceiling joists (the interior ceiling was already on). He litterly threw them in place, no measuring, bang, a single staple, move to the next joist, bang repeat. now I understand. When you don't measure and the joist are say 12" apart and the next on is say 20" insulation is either packed in (compressed) or too small for the space. the insulation was already cut. That man, and the others in the picture were working their butts off. That line was going way too fast to sustain good quality control( like they have any). My rig had 17 defects that the dealer had to repair. And of course he was none too happy as the Manufacter did not pay him very much to fix the stuff.

RE: Replacement for Radio, DVD, etc.

DVD's are for video Do you mean CD's I never saw a machine that plays radio MP3 and has a 2.5 mm plug for Iphoone. I had a POS and went to Best Buy and bought a radio etc and a face plate to replace the POS that came with my rig

RE: Leaving home for long time

If you do nothing else, SHUT OFF THE WATER. My neighbors went to Disney for a week and came back to a house full of water. Over 275K in damages. I myself have a very good friend and neighbor go through the house daily just to check. Yes the water is still off.

Black Streak remover, easy

I just got my rig home and experienced more than usual black streaking. What to use? I went into the house and got some Scrubbing Bubbles Mega Shower Foamer made by SC Johnson. Man, I have never used anything that works so good. Spray it on and wait a few seconds and wipe it off. No scrubbing. The camper looks like new. It took a lot of oxidation off too and I imagine the wax but I wanted to wax it anyway and it is CLEAN.

RE: converter location and rating

If it's orignal it probably ain't big enough. my 45 amp convertor won't charge my 2 "27's" by running the generator in 12 hours. That's how long you can run a genny in Yellowstone. Started at 8am and had to shut off at 8pm and batterys still low. Someday I will get a better convertor. Remember, the co. that made your camper did not go overboard and supply a good 3 stage convertor.

RE: Two 6 volt GC Batteries, OR, two type 24 batteries?

If you haven't read the 12 volt side of life, take the time to do so. VERY INTERESTING. You can look at that and then make informed choices Published 12 years ago but things like laws of physics and electric don;t change. BACK ON PAGE 1 THERE IS A LINK

RE: Light-Proofing Bedroom

I don't need to look out the windows of the bedroom so I got a couple cans of Black Krylon spray paint and painted the windows. On the outside, a couple coats. Looks pretty good and I can take it off with a razor blade and solvent if I ever decide to. Also bought a pillow that fits the vent. We stay in Walmart parking lots and NO light gets in. Also got a pillow for the bathroom vent

RE: safe preasure

Right where you hook up to the camper there is a label on mine. Caution Do not exceed 60#. The PEX they use today is rated at 110#, but the fittings that campers use are not. I think #50 would be a good number.

RE: Lug nut covers

Go to an auto parts store and buy some new Either stainless steel (prefered) or chrome plated nuts. Take an old one along to get the right one as they could be metric or sae. I got rid of those cheap nut after I stripped a few off and when you do that no wrench fits the steel nut under the liner. About a buck apiece. You won't be sorry you spent the money

RE: Are there bearing temp sensors for wheels???

I really think too much thought is given to wheel bearings. Why do you have to repack a bearing every year when you take a car or truck and forget about them until you need a brake job.100,000 miles or more on some vechicles and never a problem. I had an old truck and when it needed brakes, I jacked up the wheels, replaced the pads and put it back into service. Didn't even fool with the rotors. Truck is still going, last I heard had 260k on it. I know you don't want trouble happening to you but have it done and forget it.

RE: Television - Do You Need a Special One For an RV?

They must be special. The Maker of your RV charges between $800 and 1000 for them, so they must be of superior quality. B.S. I bought a 26" Visio from walmart. 3 years and counting

RE: Front Of Fifth Wheel Very High While Driving

According to the sales brochure for my 2011 Chev, the differance between 4x2 and 4x4 is only 9/10 of an inch. It went from 2007 and 16" tires to 2011 and 18" tires. The bed is 2" deeper also. Now my fiver rides high in the front. Not so bad that I am going to change anything but still.

RE: Mor/Ryde IS Suspension System?

Don't " THINK" discs may not be worth it. You never drove a fiver with them have you? I can lock 4 wheels right now. No drum brake is half as good. Why do they put discs on all cars? They don"t do it because they cost less, they do it to stop in an emergency> Only Rv manufactuers do it to save money. And, if a wheel seal leaks, like one of mine did they don;t throw grease all over the drum. It appears that the grease that leaked flew straight away and never came near the rotors. Can't say that for drums. And NO adjustments ever. Spend the money for disc brakes. You will never by sorry.

RE: Prodigy2 wiring Silverado

Prodigy wireing harness to Chev. blue is blue Pro red is Chev blue (smallish wire) Pro Black is Chev red Pro white is Chev black (little wire). I just went to the garage and took a look at mine. I removed it when I got the new 2011 Chev with intergrated controller. Personally I like the Prodigy better than the built in. but it's a real pain to go and find out how to disconnect the built in I think. No more patience. Good luck. By the way I had a 07 2500HD
