First day out in our new 2012 Bullet Premier 29RTPR this weekend! Woot Woot! Picture is from last friday picking it up. http://sphotos.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-prn1/p480x480/531408_4058102218088_1448111205_3696483_1679632691_n.jpg Looks great. Have fun!

RE: Keystone Bullet Premier

Two summers ago when we did our trip to Minnesota, I noticed severe tire wear on the rear driver side tire mid-journey. The tread on the inner side had worn down to the steel belt. I had checked tire pressure every morning and never noticed if the tire was angled wrong. Luckily I was able to buy a new tire so that we could get back on the road. At the end of our trip in Montana, we suffered failed wheel bearings on the rear passenger tire. I was able to limp to a nearby campground and the mobile repair guy who came said the axle was bent and it could have caused the failure. It also made me suspect that the uneven tire wear was a symptom. We had the axle replaced before we got back on the road. That all happened the first summer we bought the Premier. In March this year, I decided to get the wheel bearings repacked. During that service, they noticed again the same uneven tire wear. They checked the alignment and said everything was straight and had no idea what could have caused it. I'm puzzled myself and will have to be extra careful now checking the treads.

We're currently on the 4th day of our Oregon Coast road trip, leaving Seaside this morning and heading south. The weather is still cold and we had snow showers yesterday, but the weather changes every 10 minutes so we've also had beautiful sunshine. Here's a picture of last night's sunset: http://instagr.am/p/IVi6rnjTfc/

Well guys this past year has been quite an adventure for my family and I, but regretably our needs have changed an we are out of the camping life for now :( We have moved, and our family has grown. I will also be going away for a year soon, and a camper is no fun unless you are using it. On a better note, we got really close to our pay off when sold it! The Miller's wish you all happy adventures and the best of luck. Thank you for your participation in this group. I wish you enough and more! Thank you for your service. Couldn't agree more--all the best to you and your family!

Looks great! We haven't been able to do as much cold weather RVing as we did last year, but we're gearing up for a Spring Break road trip with some friends down the Oregon Coast. I'm getting the wheel bearings re-packed and the roof cleaned and treated in a few weeks. I was at an RV show on the weekend. Frankly, no TT could come close to our Premier, but there were a couple of Class A's and the Jayco Seneca Class-C (on the Freightliner chassis) that we admired :).

RE: Keystone Bullet Premier

NETANDDAVID, Does anybody have any experience using the heater to know how long a 20 bottle of propane will last? Last year a 20lb tank lasted us about 1 weekend for 2 nights of heating and 2 daya of cooking. I only ran heat in the evening but I kept it warm around 70-72. This year I've only used a 1500w heater pointed to the bunks and it's kept the entire trailer warm without having to use any propane at all. I'm still using the same 20lb tank I started with in the spring. Keep in mind though that with the heater at full, we trip the circuit box much more often if we aren't careful. We turn the heater off if we need to use the microwave and use ga for hot water instead of electricity.

RE: Keystone Bullet Premier

I have a variety of thermometers setup in the RV (bunkhouse, queen bed, dining, and thermostat) and there are wide variations in the temperature especially when it gets cold outside. There are even differences between the thermostat on the wall and the thermometer above the dinette. The bunkhouse is always the coldest even though I checked the heater ducting located under the fridge and all the connections look fine. Keep in mind, too, there is a draft to the outside kitchen from the bunkhouse if you haven't blocked off the TV with the plexiglass mod. That's one of my modding plans for the future. I found that the digital thermostat needed to be set several degrees higher than normal (i.e. 72 or 74 instead of 68), to make it feel more comfortable inside. I discovered this was because the thermostat would not actually turn on until the temp dropped a few degrees or so below the set temp. I believe it is designed that way, so that the heater is not constantly cycling on and off at the slightest change in temp--which could be quite annoying. Although, the variance that garysol experienced does seem wider than you'd normally expect. I don't think the Premier is insulated enough for cold weather and the internal temperature drops quite quickly. Last winter, we basically used up an entire 20 lb. propane tank every weekend. This year I bought a couple of portable electric heaters from Walmart. The smaller Lasko one is only 200w and is perfect for in the bathroom. The other Sunbeam one is 1000w or 1500w and when setup on the floor between the sofa and the dinette, heats the entire RV very, very warmly--even the bunkhouse. I keep the curtains open a few inches to allow for air flow. BTW, the Walmart online prices seem to be a lot expensive when I purchased the heaters in-store earlier at the end of summer. They were only $10 and $13, respectively. Now, we never need to use propane for heat which should save us a lot of money this winter!

RE: Keystone Bullet Premier

I did an additional mod to the Premier last weekend. It was something that I wasn't planning on doing, but should have done a lot earlier. I don't like to carry a lot of DVDs and most of the media that we watch (me and the kids) is stored on my iPod. I have a lot of movies, podcasts, and kids shows on it. I thought it was really convenient because there was the cable that came with the DVD headunit to watch external sources. The only problem is having that cable sticking out from the front when it's being used. Because it sticks out so much, it gets bumped into accidentally a lot. The first major time, the socket cracked and the plug was loose, but it was still usable. The second major hit was the death blow because the mini-plug snapped and got embedded in the headunit. I had planned on trying to get access to the back of the TV to use the rear inputs, but I couldn't figure out how to do that without causing major damage. It was also impossible to try to run the wires through the vertical pipe of the swivel mount. So instead I looked in behind the DVD headunit because it was easy to remove: 1. First you carefully remove the trim and it exposes four screws that hold the headunit in. 2. Once that's done, the whole thing slides out and you can see the nest of wires in behind it: https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-caAcmdK8DFU/TpuLGkKHg9I/AAAAAAAAFvo/hHCASTNjBac/s640/photo%252520%2525282%252529.JPG Luckily, all the wires are clearly labeled and I could see that the Aux1 input was not used. Aux3 is for the front input (which is now broken on mine). I followed the factory wiring and ran the wires for my iPod through the hole I had cut for the antenna booster in the cabinet above the TV and dropped them down the wall. Then I cut an additional two holes (one through each section) in the little shelf under the TV for the iPod to connect to the rear of the DVD headunit: https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-xR7DRPPLMnM/TpuPN2dt98I/AAAAAAAAFv4/M6Nr2s9S4Nw/s640/photo%252520%2525282%252529-1.JPG Now the entire setup is much neater and tidier. We can watch all our media without extra wires hanging all over the place. Even if you don't have an iPod, you could run regular RCA cables there for external input. I think they should have done something like that straight from the factory. Anyway, I'm happy now that everything works again and I really like the clean look to it. Plus, my wife doesn't feel so bad anymore about busting up the DVD player :C.

Here is a pic of the rig leaving the campground today...... http://i30.photobucket.com/albums/c342/garysol1/Camping/IMG_1582-1.jpg Beautiful picture! We just renewed our annual site and are preparing for another season of cold weather RVing. I bought a small electric heater from Walmart for $13 that does a great job of keeping the interior warm. I also got a hose and adapter for our table-top patio heater to accept a 20lb propane tank. When I have it setup in front of the outside kitchen under our 10x10 canopy with 2 walls up, it's quite cozy and comfortable--especially with the lights up. It's also great having a large area protected from the rain. I just remembered that I did a little modification to the front TV and stereo last weekend that I really like. I'll post up some pictures later.

RE: Keystone Bullet Premier

Do you also have that smell even after using the black tank flush?
VirtualGarage 10/15/11 09:49am Travel Trailers
RE: Keystone Bullet Premier

I'd say about a minute or less of flushing at each faucet would clear it. We are always at full hookups so I kept the fresh water tank dry an the water pump filled with antifreeze.

RE: Keystone Bullet Premier

Last fall we used the Premier through the freezing nights and I started using antifreeze. It was pretty straightforward but I decided to buy an air compressor so that I wouldn't need to keep buying antifreeze every weekend. It takes a little more time to pack up at the end of the weekend because I have to blow out the pipes before we leave, but it really doesn't take a lot of time. I only use a little antifreeze in the p-traps. I follow the instructions in the Keystone service videos. I have a link on my webpage: Keystone How To Winterize

RE: Keystone Bullet Premier

Are the electric jacks and option on the premiere? Did not see it listed, or is this something that the dealer can install? Not available through Keystone that I am aware of. I am sure your dealer could install them but I wonder if the cost is worth the advantage. In addition to adding cost, you will also be adding weight. The Premier is sold as an "ultra-light" so that's probably why those extras were left off. Keystone can then differentiate between their numerous models. Unless there are specific reasons for wanting/needing electric stabilizer jacks, you can get similar performance at less cost, weight, and hardware by using a cordless drill. The cordless drill also lowers and raises the jacks much faster. It's just another thing to consider when shopping for an RV.

RE: Keystone Bullet Premier

That's awesome. What a great find! I agree that the van interiors are lacking. The standard seats just don't seem suitable or inviting for a family of active, growing kids. It's one of the things that's holding me back.
