RE: Best route through DC/Baltimore

Just take I-95 south all the way. Its a straight shot through the Balt/DC area. Just be sure not to travel during rush hour traffic. Best times are from 9:30AM till about 2:30PM or after 8:00PM. During this time traffic is fairly light unless there is an accident or minor construction.
I believe there is a propane tank restriction at the Baltimore tunnels, but if your tanks are off you should be fine. If you want to avoid the tunnels just take i-695 (east) just north of Baltimore. It will take you east of the city over a bridge instead of the tunnel and rejoin with I- 95 further south of Baltimore.

RE: Daytona Beach

Camped at the KOA on Nova Road (state rd 5) in August a few years back. Place was pretty empty but the folks running the it were very nice. Pretty much an open field with campsites well spaced. Also had a nice pool in front. Only stayed here one night as we were on our way to the Keys.

RE: GM 8.1 oil change

For me, the more filtering the better. MHO.
But are you really filtering more or just running the same oil through a larger sheet of the same paper. The filter itself (other than its size)is the same type of filter. It isn't filtering any cleaner just because its bigger. Oil pressure is the same so it's not moving through the engine any different. I would also think the extra oil for cooling would be negligible. I don't think 48oz of extra oil at operating temperature is not going to cool the engine any more than the original 6.5 qts. Am I wrong?
Not being critical here. Just askin'!!!

RE: GM 8.1 oil change

Other than simply having more oil in the engine, is there any advantage to having a bigger filter than the standard 0.5 quart? Having 0.5 to 1qt extra oil really make any difference?

RE: First Landing State Park, Norfolk, VA

Its actually in Virginia Beach. Looks to be plenty of spots,(16 sites ) but it doesn't hurt to make a reservation if you are sure you are going. They don't reserve specific sites, rather they have a number of reservable sites based on vehicle size. Basically a reservation guarantees you a spot in that size(E/W 50ft+). When you check-in you can chose the site you want based on what is available in that size. They use Reserve America.

RE: Cape Cod area,, suggestions for 2012 summer

Went to the Cape for the 3rd straight summer. We enjoy two weeks there bouncing to a few different campgrounds, all big rig friendly. When on the upper cape(western end of the cape), we stay a few days at Scusset Beach SP. It has a very nice bike trail along the canal kids love it. People also fish in the canal. You can walk to the beach which is only a few hundred feet from the CG. You may need to bring lots of hose. Our water spigot was almost 100 ft from our site last year through thick brush. I believe electric is only 30amp. If you have Sat TV you should be fine at most sites. No wifi in the park but I was able to get a strong signal at the Mcdonalds parking lot down the road. We also go out on the lower cape (eastern end) and stay at Atlantic Oaks. AO is a private CG with full hook-ups, Wifi and cable. It is right next to a great bike trail that goes for miles and miles in either direction. I believe it used to be an old railroad. Arnold s seafood and ice cream right next door to CG. Great food!!! You can even ride your bike there. Beaches are not walking distance but they are beautiful out there. You can drive or ride your bike. There's also a drive-in movie theater. What a hoot!!! Place is clean and people are friendly. New shower and laundry facilities with lots of hot water. Finally we spend one of the 2 weeks on Martha's Vineyard one of the two outer islands which is absolutely beautiful. It can be a little pricey to get your rig on the ferry, but it is worth it to us to escape the mainland. There is only one CG (that I know of)on the island. Martha's Vineyard Family CG. This is also private CG with full hookups, Wifi and cable. We enjoy staying there. Sights are large and somewhat secluded. Much to do here. The towns are quaint with there own personalities and beaches are great!! Good food all over the island. Excellent bike trail network. Hope this helps

RE: Front End Alignment - What a Difference!

Got mine done last week after reading this thread. 135 bucks (not bad). The toe in was way off causing excessive wear on the outer edges of both tires. Hard to feel any difference as I already have steer safe installed. Rig drives like a car. Hope the outer wear stops.

How much did the alignment cost? Did it require any new parts or just adjustments?

RE: Cherry Hill, Washington Dc to Mount Vernon

I live in the DC area and have visited both many times. As others have said, spend a day for each to do them justice. There is no Metro to Mount Vernon. If driving take I-95 (Capital Beltway) south towards Richmond. I-95 south splits: Thru/Local a few miles before you pass into Virginia. Make sure you are in the local lanes. Once over the Woodrow Wilson Bridge get off at the Mount Vernon exit (177C). That will put you on the George Washington Parkway south which will take you directly to Mount Vernon. Be sure to avoid rush hour both ways on the beltway, it can be a nightmare. Enjoy

RE: Windshield Wipers Won't Shut Off (Workhorse)

Happened to me a couple of years ago. Wiper relay is stuck. Pull the wiper relay out of the socket tap it a couple of times and put it back. It's located by your left foot under the dash on the driver side. That should do it. If it continues you may need to replace it.

RE: Assateague State Park Md.

It is extremely difficult to get in this loop, but it is not impossible. These sites go literally within seconds of them becoming available. You must be ready to book your site exactly one year in advance of the day you plan to arrive. You must be ready to make the reservation as soon as they open for reservations that day. Internet reservation method is best.
Good Luck!!!

RE: campgrounds near rehobeth beach delaware

Cape Henelopen (though very nice) has no electric and they no longer allow generators of any kind. The camping there is focused towards tents and pop-ups. You can camp in a big rig but you must live on the batteries.

RE: Hershey RV show in Sept worth it??

Its definitely gotten smaller over the years. We've been going every year since 2003. Although smaller, there are still lots of rigs to see. It is also the first show (I believe) to have the new model year rigs on display. Manufactures have reps available to answer questions. Do know if they still do it, but the manufactures used add financial incentives to help dealers move units. Its a good time, you won't be disappointed.

RE: WARNING!!!! Camp Waubeeka Copake NY PICS WORKING NOW

This used to be a Boy Scout camp years ago. I camped here as a boy scout one summer in the early 70s. Some of the buildings go back to that era. Sad to see they let this place go.

RE: Closest campground/RV park to Arlington National Cemetery?

Both Pohick Bay Regional Park and Bull Run Regional Park are on the Arlington side of the city. Both have full hook-ups available. Both parks are very nice and well kept. There isn't much in the way of parking at the cemetery but its a relatively short drive from both CGs, probably 40 mins with no traffic. Metro may be the better alternative to driving all the way there. Bull Run is about 15 min away from the Vienna, VA Metro Station. Take I-66 east towards Washington DC, its an easy exit off the interstate to the station. There you would get on the orange line to Rosslyn Station and transfer to the blue line which will take you directly to the cemetery. Pohick Bay is about 10 min away from the Springfield, VA Metro Station. Take I-95 north to Springfield Metro station and get on the blue line. This train will take you directly to the cemetery. The station is not on the interstate but signage is pretty clear and it is not very far from the highway. It is very important to keep in mind rush hour traffic. Wash, DC traffic is among the worst in the US. Rush hour is bad on either of these roads and lasts from 6 - 10AM going towards the city and 3;30 - 7 PM going away from the city. Metro is very crowded as well.

RE: Golf balls in tires

How much did you spend on that rig??? 100,000++++ or much much more. How much on tires 4 or 5 hundred each??? How much is a wheel alignment of front end work??? The safety of your family???
Why would you think of anything else but professional balancing?

RE: Rocky Gap State Park, Flintstone, MD

According to Reserve America, walk ups are open April 1st. You can make reservations today as early as April 29th. The Maryland State Park site says day use facilities are under renovation. Not sure what that includes. The park itself may already be open. You should call ahead to the park office. 301-722-1487
