RE: Now That We're In Northwest Ohio.....

I know where you are, I have a teaching friend who used to live in Whitehouse.
To deal with "lake effect snow," you need a garden tractor, not a lawn tractor.
A garden tractor can take the weight of a plow (plus snow), but a lawn tractor cannot.
Lake effect snow is just snow times 5. Or 3, in an easy winter.
Rr chains or wheel weights are good if your yard is hilly.
Where you are, it's pretty flat, but chains are nice. My yard is 3/4 of an acre, all of it uphill.
I have a John Deere, an '89, that is still cutting and plowing away.
Has the single-cyl Kawasaki engine, is simple to work on and very reliable.
Can't speak to the other engines. But a plow on a zero-turn? Probably not.
We've moved from Northern California to Northwest Ohio. We sold our San Jose, CA home and our now about to purchase a 1995 Ranch style single story home in Whitehouse, Ohio. I need a riding mower now as my pusher Club Cadet will be too much time to mow about 1 acre of lawn.
I am looking at zero turn mowers rather than lawn tractor mowers.
I've looked at Cub Cadets, Husquvarnas, Troy Built, John Deere, Bobcat, Dixon, Bobcat, Exmark, Ferris, Toro, .......you name it. I want a quality zero turn mower that doesn't bankrupt my budget.
It will do snow plow duty in the Winter with a 48" or 60" scraper blade with snow chains too.
Some have Briggs and Stratten some Kawasaki, and some have Kholer engines all with pretty big output.
******
I want reliability, and not something that is in the shop a lot.
I'm easy on equipment and take good care of tools, and need something reliable.
Anyone out there that would swear that they know the best brand and model zero turn mower out there for residential use?

RE: Nova Scotia in July

We did the Tall Ships in '07 and it was fabulous.
We parked in Sackville and took the bus. I didn't want to, but after seeing the traffic on the piers, I'm glad we did. Tall Ships is great, definitely worth seeing.
Peggy's Cove has some very twisty roads -even for NS. Slow down in a rig.
But see it.
There is a KOA outside Mr Uniacke. Avoid it unless you love mosquitoes.
These on top of the black flies and no-see-ums.
Bay of Fundy, absolutely. We stayed on the NS side on Rte 2. I'd driven it before, so if you take 2, slow way down after Five Islands.
The Tall Ships are in Halifax July 19-23 and other points in Nova Scotia July 24-30. here is the website. It also has other things to see and do. http://www.novascotia.com/en/home/thingstoseeanddo/festivalsandevents/listingdetails.aspx/tallshipsnovascotia/20923
I wish we could be in Nova Scotia to see them! Have fun! :B

RE: Total Rebuild of a 1979 Dodge Class C

No. After my mother died, I found 6 of my baby teeth in her grandmother's gold locket. And if you think that's weird...
In '05, working my dad's 41 Mercury interior (surprisingly very good), I took the bottom of the backseat out to paint underneath and found oil-cloth bank bags.
My mom told me he kept his money in there, never trusted a bank.
... my mother showed me the hidey-hole where they'd kept my kiddie teeth from curious young eyes.
Were they still there? That would have been cool.

RE: Total Rebuild of a 1979 Dodge Class C

When I was little, I loved losing a tooth on vacation.
My dad explained that the tooth fairy paid extra for "on the road" teeth.
When we sold the Avion 20 years later, my mother showed me the hidey-hole where they'd kept my kiddie teeth from curious young eyes.
Just saying...
This first trip will be one to remember because this was the Time that Tonya lost here first front tooth,.....:B

RE: Motorcycle Lights Questions

Found mine on Craigslist. Try SearchTempest.com to search every craigslist listing in each city. Or add eBay to your search. Very good for seeing what's available and the difference in prices.
Yeah, well, back in the day, I had a Soft Tail. 3" under frt end, Corbin solo seat, shifter & brake adjusted to fit my feet. That was the only bike (of 9), I bought new.
Which Guz? Local fellow had Guzzes, he loved them. I fell for one in the mid-80's at the British Bike Show. It was late Saturday, no time to rob a bank... ;)
The 1997 Rebels had serious recall issues.
Funny you should mention the Rebel 250 - I am trying to find a good used one for my wife.
She used to have a Moto Guzzi back in the day.
I ordered the P3 lights yesterday. I will post pictures when installed.

RE: Motorcycle Lights Questions

In Jan '07, I bought an '85 Honda Rebel 250.
After riding for xxx-years, my knees are old, no more 600 lb+ bikes for me.
The Rebel runs great, is nimble and very light at 310 dry.
But its lights sucked; there isn't another way to describe them. Nearly as bad as the 6V lights on my '64 Harley and it was like candle power.
No one makes aftermarket-anything for bitty bikes like mine.
Off to the JC Whitney catalog for LED turns, brakes, tail.
$164 got me a new taillight, new turns (frt & rr), and a bright taillight.
Even though I got them from the 'universal' page, they don't look akward and do fit the profile of the bike, worth it to see what they've got.
If you don't like them, you are not out a lot of money and they can be re-sold.
Just a thought.
... put in a brighter 2357 bulb in the tail light. I would like some feedback before I buy the LED lights for the back of the bike.

I like your backsplash. A LOT.
Where are you putting the bead board?
I built the cabinet door's and drawers today, I will stain and add the white bead board in the morning, It's really coming together now.

RE: How many of us are there? Owners of Dodge based RV's?

So, Jer, wanna buy my Ford ;)
Hey Griff, I worked in inventory control at the plant where your Explorer was being built back then. I was there for about 6 months. I haven't heard anyone mention them in a long time.
