RE: DP or Gas

I went from a 6 MPG 454 gas MH to a 5.9L DP 9 years ago, that has a 10.282 MPG average over the 9 years. Cost per mile for fuel is less for the DP no mater what the difference in price is between gas/diesel. I drive less then 4K miles a year anymore. But enjoy the smooth quite ride every mile. And no screaming engine going up hills. Still waiting for that first breakdown with this 13 year old DP, that happens 10 times as much as a gas. :)

RE: How do you know if you need more torque?

Sorry DP folks, but, I was passing some of you guys on 7% grades. The V10 loves to rev and will let you know it is right next to your right leg. But those DP you passed. Passed you up while you had to stop and put more gas in with that high rev engine. That just loves to burn it up. Then again, maybe those DP you passed didn't know they were in a race. I like to cruse my DP up long hills turning a quite 2,000 to 2,150 RPM in whatever gear of the 6 it takes to make up with ease. And I have passed a few more gas units going up, then the ones that passed me. Love my 10.282 MPG average over 50,000 miles.

RE: Need an EZ Pass needed for Dinghy too?

Your E-Z Pass won't work in FL. A Sun Pass is used.

RE: motorcycle towing

I pulled a 14' enclosed trailer for over 16 years with my Yamaha Venture Royal, Venture Royal Trike and HD FXSTI. I had no problem backing it if needed. But preferred pull through sites. With back in sites sometimes not enough room to put the rear ramp down and unload the bike. Even my DP didn't have the capacity for a lift and bike on the rear GAWR. Enclosed trailer keeps the bike clean and a garage when at campground. I carried spare tire for trailer & MH, tools, cleaning supply's, 6' ladder, bike jack and other items. Retired and full time. A enclosed one is the only way to go. As a open trailer will make you very tired of washing it almost every time you want to ride. And finding a dry space to carry a lot of items that won't fit in a MH compartment.

RE: Belt numbers for a 2004 Holiday Rambler with Cummins 330 ISC

Have the shop get the SN of the engine & the CPL number off of the same plate mounted on the engine. Then any Cummins parts store can give you the correct ones.

RE: Class A With NO Rubber Roof??

My 13 year old Fleetwood Rubber roof has had no leaks so far. I don't see how a leak can start unless it was ripped open with tree limbs etc. In the 10 years I have owned it. I have put some touch up Dicor sealant around antenna, vent pipes, seams etc. only maybe 3-4 times. Wash it once or twice a year and it should be good for another 10 years by the looks of it.

RE: Gave up on Flying J ...

I used Murphy's all summer with the Walmart Gift card 10 cents discount good on Gas or Diesel. May be a little tighter then the FJ's RV Islands. But still doable with a toad attached. And their regular price was usually always several cents below Pilot/Flying J. Discount still good until last of year.

RE: rooftop airconditioner

Rooftop a/c use R22 refrigerant. You have to be a refrigerant certification to purchase R22. As for use of a saddle valve. They are not that reliable. I would only use it to recover the refrigerant then Braize in service ports on the high and low pressure lines. New Coleman RV AC uses Refrigerant 410A The 8333 series uses r-22 freon and the 48000 series uses r-410A, according to Airxcel technical support.

RE: FULL TIME RVING

The difficulty will be when your driver's license expires. Florida DMV now requires that you bring a utility bill as proof of your address, birth certificate and for married women your marriage license to substantiate why your name on your DL differs from the name on your birth certificate. Previously you could renew your license online...those days are gone forever here in the Sunshine State. I have lived in Florida since 1992 and at the same address for 15 years prior to my last renewal. The utility bill is mandatory and not negotiable. I have only lived in Florida since 1999. Utility bill is NOT mandatory. A DirecTV bill, Cell Phone bill, Bank statements etc. with your address on it will work. No electric bill is mandatory. Those wishing to obtain a new license, legally change their name prior to their renewal date, or immediately replace a lost or stolen license or ID card are required to visit a driver licenses office and show the following: 1) Identification – A certified U.S. birth certificate (hospital birth certificates are not accepted); a valid U.S. passport; a consular Report of Birth Abroad; a certificate of Naturalization (Form N-550 or N-570); or a certificate of Citizenship (Form N-560 or N-561). 2) Social Security Number – Card, W-2 form, paycheck or any 1099 form. 3) Residential Address – Two (2) items mailed to you that contain your address. Acceptable is a mortgag statement, voter ID card, a utility bill or a car insurance policy. For the OP that already has a FL. drivers license and not due for renewal. He can go on line and change his mailing address. Florida Info Click Here.

RE: Survey- which type roofing?

Did you check with Dicor. The roof has a 12 year warranty. and should last up to 20 years. BriteTEK is part of Dicor’s three-part roofing system that includes the roofing membrane, bonding adhesive and lap sealant. The stiffer nature of TPO means it stretches less and is more manageable, making installation quicker and easier. And BriteTEK is available with or without fleece backing to match the needs of RV manufacturers. Our Installation Component Kit makes it easy for RVers and service centers to do their own repairs. The kit contains everything necessary for an average RV roof installation -- except for the roof membrane which is sold separately. BriteTEK is a product of Carlisle Syntec Incorporated, a leader in commercial roofing materials. Designed specifically for the RV industry, Carlisle membranes are the first choice of RV manufacturers. They have received the Energy Star rating for environmental efficiency and are backed by the industry’s only 12-year warranty. That’s added peace of mind!

RE: Washer/Dyer use !

Why in the world would you want to go back and forth to a wash room or laundramat???? Only a couple times a month or less is not much back & forth. The laundromat usually has some well built and very good looking woman using it. And I am a great, people watcher in the 1 1/2 hour spent there. :B Did I mention getting the fresh strawberry milkshake on the way back home after doing the laundry? ;)

RE: Debit Card and ATM Fees at Bank of America

To Triker33: Bank of America's website won't show the fee schedule change anticipated for early next year. So Yelling Wolf at something B of A is going or not going to do next year. Doesn't really matter now. I am guessing with my 2 accounts with them carrying a balance over the amount needed for a FREE non Fee charged accounts with one direct deposit each month. Will still be Fee Free after the Fee schedule for using a Debit card is posted next year. Or I can stop at the BA branch right across the street from the Wal-Mart I usually use my Debit card at for grocery's and cash. Use the ATM free no Fee for cash to get both of the above.

RE: Debit Card and ATM Fees at Bank of America

All below from B of A web site Is there a difference between signing a receipt and using my PIN to authorize a debit card purchase? Your options may differ depending on the merchant. Some merchants may require a signature (such as many restaurants), while others may offer you the option of 'Credit' or 'Debit/ATM' when processing your purchase. Usually, if you select 'Credit', you will sign a receipt to authorize your purchase. If you select 'Debit/ATM', you will use your PIN. Whether you select 'Credit' or 'Debit/ATM', the purchase amount will be deducted from your Bank of America checking account. Generally, there is no transaction fee for either type of transaction. (Merchants may charge a fee) Are there transaction fees for using my debit card? There are NO transaction fees for using your debit card to make purchases. However, fees may still apply when used at a non-Bank of America ATM. (Merchants may charge a fee) No Fees of any kind have been charged to me since I started a account with Bank Of America in 1998. I use my Debit card for almost everything less then $150. Except restaurants and I use cash in them, with cash that I got at Wal-Mart with my debit card, FEE FREE.

RE: alternator dying?

Not all new alternators will put out 14.2V or above. Some may only put out around 13.8 to 13.9V. And will recharge batteries just fine. At 12.7V output at the alternator, means that one needs replaced soon. alternator usually puts out well in excess of 100 volts You probably meant amps. 100 volts would burn up a battery and any 12V accessory in the RV.

RE: Good Sam Extended Repair Insurance

Power Gear legs are bolted on to my Freightliner XC chassis. You would think HWH would have their legs bolted on to any chassis. Not welded on. And any welder that would charge $400 to weld one leg on. Would never see any money from me if he gave a $$$ estimate close to that price. That was a complete rip off weld job.

RE: Window Fogging - (Before and After)

Maybe you should have driven to Florida this winter on some of that Shipping money. In May I had the Florida shop http://suncoastdesigners.ccwindow.com/rvservices.html fix my window. They had to replace 2 panes and total cost was $294.68 They give a 5 year warranty on their fix.

RE: Washer/Dyer use !

It's cheaper than the laundry mat too. :h The ones at Camping World cost around $950 single to $1,625 for stackable ones. If it came with your RV and you financed the RV, you are paying much more $$$ for it. If you pay for electric at the Campground that is extra $$ I prefer the Landry mat where I can do 4 loads in 1 1/2 hours. And on the way home I can stop for a strawberry milkshake made fresh. Only problem is, it doesn't open back up until Nov. 1st And my laundry bag is full. But I have plenty of storage space left to use. My Quicken shows I have spent $1,344 for laundry mat's since Jan. 2000 and that is Full time including all soap bought. So I could have almost bought a washer/dryer in those 11 years plus. Hey! In another couple years or so I could have a stackable. Having one will be cheaper? I don't think so.
