RE: Funeral Edict?

My problem with the practice of funeral processions is the way they intrude on the lives of hundreds or even thousands of people who did not know the deceased. For them, life goes on. Even high profile personages should not disrupt the daily lives of people not otherwise associated with them. I've seen instances where major freeways in the Phoenix area were shut down, both ways, for the funeral procession of a slain police officer. Life still goes on for others who still have to go to and from work, drive vehicles as part of their work, businesses still need their deliveries to and from the businesses, etc.
But funeral processions are an anachronism that needs to go the way of the buggy whip. This IMO, is about as callous as a person can get and again, IMO, is what is wrong with this country of ours today. The Officer gave his life to protect someone in your community and it was and affront to you, because his funeral was a disruption to your daily life. Thank god, there are many in this country who still have some respect and feeling for others and are not the callous person you have turned into.

RE: What would you do? Air conditioning question

We have 2 13.5 Dometic on our 40' coach and it does get hot down here in Three Rivers. Is there enough difference between a 13.5 and a 15 to make the change..:h..not in my book. Also, the 15 is "much" louder than the 13.5 and that may be the reason the 13.5 is in the bedroom area. We use a small tower fan to move the air around at the floor level and that works wonders.

RE: CoachNet

I told them my car was dead. I did not request battery service. I told them I just needed help - not knowing what kind of help I actually needed. And I really resent the implication that I do not know how to escalate a problem. People here are quick to make broad assumptions. I could have gotten a jump in the parking lot from any number of people because unlike The Texan (who isn't from Texas at all per his signature) most people in this state are very polite. I expected a wrecker and got a kid in a jeep, probably because they promise help within an hour and the clock was ticking. Just stating what happened. Take it at face value. I didn't ask for advice - only sharing my experience.Sorry, the signature couldn't be more specific.....I am a 4th generation Texan, currently living in Three Rivers Texas. Do we own property elsewhere, yep, but I am and always will be a Texan and will be as polite as I want, to those that give the full story, not cage their story to fit the complaint.
Sounds to me, they sent what you indicated that you needed.

RE: GOLF CART BATTERIES?

Our golf cart has the same Sam's Club batteries I installed in the summer of 2002, to replace the original Trojan batteries that were installed in 1994. Proper care and charging is way more important to longevity than age.

RE: Good Sam Roadside or CAA+

TheTexan:
Yes. After I got home I spent over an hour on the phone with various people, . No I didn't speak to a VP but I did climb the corporate ladder. Everyone apologized and said they were sorry and would look into it. That's fine as far as it goes but my concern is about the level of service when really needed, not getting apologies after the fact. The reality is, the problems should have been fixed when I was stranded on the side of the road. They weren't. When stranded I need an expected level of service NOW, not an apology later.
BTW I don't appreciate your comments in the last paragraph and in bold. I did my best to apprise this forum of a situation that happened to me and I didn't expect to get flamed for it. If everyone took your approach no one would bother to report their experiences for fear of getting blasted by your type of attitude. This would in turn negate a valuable part of this forum.IMO, it should NOT have been brought to the board until you had a "satisfactory answer or were unable to get any satisfaction" and then we would have the whole story, not just the beginning and a slam on any company. I would have said the same thing if it had been about GS ERS or about any RV manufacturer. I know for a fact that CN will follow up and you will get satisfaction, but they are NOT on the road with you to see what happened, so it does take some work on your part to make them aware of the poor service. Bad mouthing them here does NOT give them any feedback. Sorry if you don't like it, but that is the way the world turns.

RE: Funeral Edict?

This topic got alot of response. Being a retired funeral director & having led many funeral processions on I-90 (NY State Thruway), the rule of thumb is this: Unless escorted by a POLICE ESCORT the procession must obey all traffic laws & yes stop for red lights, although many don't. Honoring the procession is a sign of respect for the deceased & family, it is not the law. Breaking through that procession is considered rude although in the case of this original poster, his judgement was correct, because stopping on the interstate could very easy cause a hazzard.Maybe that is the feeling and "law" in NY, but don't try and tell us that the law in NY is law of the land. Doing what the OP did in some states would be a violation of that states law and could earn a citation. We do things "our" way elsewhere and don't need s person from another northern state telling us we are wrong.

RE: CoachNet

Nobodys perfect but I can tell you horror stories about both AAA and Good Sam while CoachNet has been extremely helpful particularly when my daughters were stranded and needed help desperately, CoachNet only for me and I agree that speaking to the right people at CN will get results.
Speaking to the right person can be a problem. The person I spoke to was head of CoachNet's Quality Assurance Department. She informed me she was the final step and unless I did it her way there was no way the issue would be resolved.Sorry, she has a boss too and that is why I gave the name and email address for a Senior VP of the company. If you let someone walk on you when you feel you have a valid gripe and are right, then shame on you.

RE: Tires in Idaho or Montana?

A couple posts mentioned buying tires at Costco; yes, their prices are very competitive but their shop bays usually can't handle large RV's, TT's, FW's, etc. But they are definitely worth checking out, I've purchased tires at Costco and Les Schwab, both are good but Schwab is better equipped to handle many RV type needs and not just sell tires.
No tire store where I have been in the past 45 years has had a bay large enough for a motorhome or a travel trailer or even space to pull in with a Class A coach or a TT of any length or even a boat trailer. At least with a Costco there is a very large parking lot and at slow times they would object less to taking over 15 car spaces.I guess you never leave the car tire stores downtown for the country and truck stores. EVERY tire store, with one exception, I have been in over the past 2-3 years has had at least 1 bay for semis and class A RVs. The one exception was Discount Tire in downtown Victoria TX, but they did have plenty of room for an RV in the parking lot. Even the LS store in Meridian I don't care for, has room and bays for multi RVs and trucks. Costco is prohibited by company policy from changing any truck tire over 20", or working out in the parking lot. Call them to verify if you don't believe.

RE: HELP! EMERGENCY! NEED HELP NOW!

I will call Monaco for a new switch and solve that problem!
Again all, thanks a million for coming to my rescue! We will be able to hit the road tomorrow morning!NO NO, don't pay the Monaco price for anything, except as a last choice. First try Northwest RV supply and if they don't have it, then go to the Monacoers forum and check who the supplier for the switch is and go direct.

RE: Funeral Edict?

I guess I am with the "stop" and show some respect group, instead of being in a hurry. There is enough road rage out there without it being initiated by someone in a funeral procession. Besides, that procession may have been for a fallen hero and then IMO, they had every right to be PO'd.

RE: CoachNet

I posted this on another thread and here it is again....no sympathy from me, unless you make the people that CAN make a difference, aware of the problem. If after you make them aware and get nowhere, then come back and tell us about it. I know for a fact Mr Stroup will NOT ignore you.
Did you bother to try and go up the ladder to get to the root of your problem? I'm sorry but they do have a group that follows up with these complaints, if they know about them. Instead of saying how poor they are, try following the right procedure, then report how the ENTIRE scenario played out.

RE: Replaceing water heater element

On our Atwood, the element is right there alongside the LP burner. It is a standard house element and ACE carries them for under $10. Check to make sure yours is not right out in the open, when you drop the door down.

RE: Miffed at Monaco Parts

Thanks Texan, yes, I have it. Could a regular auto paint store mix it up?
Normally when I buy it for a car, I go to the dealer parts counter.
MM.Take the brand and code to any "good" paint store and they can match it.

Mark, do you have the build sheet for your coach? That will have the paint codes and paint manufacturer on it. If you don't have the build sheet, call Monaco techs with your coach number and they will email you one.

RE: HELP! EMERGENCY! NEED HELP NOW!

The slide relays are in the rear battery compartment. Will say slide right on them. Unplug each and then re-seat it. Make sure your generator is running, or you are plugged into 50a shore power, so there is plenty of juice and that the ignition key is turned off. If nothing works, each slide can be manually cranked in with a box wrench or a ratchet, but it is a chore.

RE: Good Sam Roadside or CAA+

The level of service has really gone down hill since Coach-Net was bought out and moved form Lake Havasu. I have been praising Coach-Net for years but back to back failures has me looking for something else.Couple of things....Coach Net was bought by NO ONE, they have been owned by the same company for 12± years. They did relocate their call center from AZ to TX recently, but many of the same staff came with them.

RE: Miffed at Monaco Parts

Do you belong to the Monacoers forum? If not you should join and if you already belong, you failed to use the existing, very extensive parts listing for ALL Monaco coaches, they have. IMO, you should be blaming yourself for failing to exhaust all avenues, before going to the coach manufacturer, who has shipping, inventory storage and other cost to cover, just so you can gripe about them having it for you. Sorry, but Monaco parts is the LAST place I go to for any part on my coach.

Hey DJ, how is that new LS store there by you? Hopefully it is better managed than the one by me, but that is just one store....We trade at the one in McCall, because of the Meridian store management.
