RE: Oregon Toys, and riding...

What if your Bike/ ATV has a out of state OHV sticker already do you have to buy another one for every state you ride in?Many states have reciprocity and don't require a special sticker, but there are some that want the money and say tuff, you will buy our sticker if you want to ride. Even though our state borders OR, the last I checked, OR did not honor our registration.

RE: Bad experience with Seafoaming a generator...

Sounds to me like the Seafoam was doing its job and cleaning your system. I have used it for many years and the only time it smoked, was in a dirty fuel system, till it was cleaned. I use it for a stabilizer in both our 2nd car and our Rzr, sometimes as long as 18 months and it does a very good job of stabilizing the fuel for that length of time.

RE: Oregon Toys, and riding...

Why people call proper training BS, is something I can't comprehend. Having been a LEO plus worked for the USFS and seen the aftermath of kids and ATVs, training is NOT BS. Hopefully more adults will come to the understanding that if we are to continue to ride on public lands, we must teach our kids to ride responsibly and be properly trained to handle the machine they are riding, which does NOT come from the internet.
Sorry for the rant, but some of the attitudes I have seen on this thread, are the reason we are losing more and more ORV trails daily.

RE: Rules Regarding Carrying Ammo

What does this have to do with RVing. Ask it on a NRA site.
Some just like to comment. I especially like the ones who say " I don't know so I can't say.No, this one is an anti gun nut and he always responds with comments on any gun thread, that will get them closed, after he hits notify moderator button.
As a trap shooter, I have gone through state inspections with over 10K rounds and never been challenged. Just declare the ammo, if stopped.

RE: Problems with Good Sam ERS

All this is why I have AAA RV with no problems! That's great, as long as you don't travel outside your AAA region. AAA RV+ is NOT nation wide and in many of the AAA regions, you will NOT get RV service, a known fact.
What are the AAA regions? I currently have AAA Plus for my two vehicles and will be getting something for my new Fifth Wheel. I am deciding between AAA and GS. Directly from the info available.... AAA (pronounced "triple A"), formerly known as the American Automobile Association, is a federation of 51 independently operated motor clubs throughout North America.
Each has its own rules and operating procedures, which may or may not include RV+ coverage. Many areas do NOT cover RVs. AAA is NOT the RVers best option, if you travel nationwide.
Here is just a sampling of a few:
AAA Alabama (Statewide. Program is called “Tow-for-Life”)
AAA Arizona (Statewide)
AAA Auto Club South (Statewide in Florida, Georgia, West and Middle Tennessee. Program is called “Tow-to-Go”)
AAA Hawaii (Islands of Kaui, Maui, Oahu and Hawaii only)
AAA Merrimack Valley (Program is called “TOWEDD.” From December 16th-January 1st.)
AAA Montana (Missoula, Bozeman, Helena and Billings)
AAA New Mexico (Statewide)
AAA Nevada (Statewide)
AAA Northern and Southern California (Statewide)
AAA Oklahoma (Metro Tulsa, Metro Oklahoma City, Shawnee, Bartlesville, Enid, Muskogee and Lawton)
AAA South Dakota (Sioux Falls, Rapid City, Aberdeen, Mitchell and Yankton only)
AAA Texas (Statewide)
AAA Tidewater Virginia (Greater Hampton Roads area including Virginia Beach, Norfolk, Portsmouth, Chesapeake, Suffolk, Newport News, Hampton, Poquoson, Yorktown, and Williamsburg. Program is called ‘Tow-to-Go”)
AAA Utah (Statewide)
New Jersey Automobile Club (Morris, Essex and Union counties only)

RE: Cell amps and antennas

Have you checked the "coverage" maps for all the cell providers in your new area to see if one of them claims to cover your planned location?
If there are no towers servicing the area, then your satellite system is probably the only choice.
If you want to try another provider, I believe that most of them will give you a week or two to try it out. If it doesn't work for you, you can then return the equipment and drop the contract for no charge. They all claim to have coverage in the area, but in fact only AT&T has marginal coverage. With an antenna and amp, Verizon will work, but not real sure about Sprint.

RE: Cell amps and antennas

I have been looking at the Wi-Ex zBoost YX545 Cellular Phone Signal Booster, which appears to have real good reviews. I will also talk to the 3G store Monday about the Wilson, similar to the zBoost. I do not want a cradle type, as we want one to use for both the phones and the internet.

Cell amps and antennas

Looking for a reliable system to use here in south Texas that will serve both the phone and the aircard in the RV, but not bankrupt us. We have Verizon phones and one each Verizon and Sprint aircard. Can not use a direct connect system, so it must be a repeater type. I do have the ability to put an antenna on either a 20' pole on the ladder or permanently mount one on the roof in the front cap. Looking for recommendations from those that have a system of any brand, as I am NOT locked into a Wilson system, in fact I am looking at others. Thanks.
We are moving to a new work location next Wed or Thu and it does NOT have a usable cell signal. We will probably reactivate our Motosat satellite internet if needed.

RE: Gate Guards

Have you tried a Satellite Phone? We just bought two of them from Plesanton Sat dealer. IF you need more info PM me and I will give the phone number. Presently they are $100 per phone and 300 minutes a month for $9.95. Will work anywhere you have a clear sky. Will not get through a tin roof!!!We will install an antenna and amplifier first and save the sat phone for a last resort. Thanks for the offer though.

Carefree RV Resorts

There is the address. A formal written complaint to the main office with a copy to the Dunedin office will kill the noise, or at least stop the noise till after quiet hours.

RE: Gate Guards

Looks like we will be moving Wed to our new construction gate in Pawnee, which will open this gate up for someone short term. They say about another month to 6 weeks here, which will be a breeze, as the contractor has to be out next week or shortly there after. We will be building another gas plant, similar to what we are doing, from scratch again.....
Moving to the big city of Pawnee lol..by the time you get slowed down to 55, you are out of there! They do have a cafe, but I've never seen more than 2 vehicles there. Do you like the long-term gates? We like being with a rig and moving every month. Different scenery.Yep, we have really enjoyed this long term gate and that is why we said yes when the Co Man asked us to go over there with him. We will be on FM 798 about 2 miles out of town, but there is no cell service there, as Betsy just went over this AM and checked out the site and cell service. Time to get on the phone with the 3G store and get an amp and antenna. We followed a rig last year and enjoyed that, but working construction 6 days, day shift is nice also.

RE: Alaska - Best tour - Pt.William Sound vs Cook Inlet?

Have done both and each is different, so both would be our recommendation. If only doing one, then Prince William Sound is by far the most scenic and would be the best.

RE: length rules ?

If you have "any" advertising, like a sponsor on the trailer or toter home, you are considered commercial and require a CDL, plus appropriate registration and permits. If you are stopped leaving a race and have competed, you are considered commercial and again, require a CDL, commercial registration and permits. NOW, does everyone follow the law..:h.. no, but it is still the law. If a DOT officer decides it's your time, then the fines will wipe out years of winnings. Also, without a CDL, you can NOT legally purchase a over length permit.
It's your call on how much you want to challenge the law. I know from experience, that I personally would NOT mess with either NY or PA troopers.

Working against you would be those that live by one brand. I would say no, you would not recoup your cost, but giving an allowance might work.

RE: Oregon Toys, and riding...

After riding with some true "idiots" over the age of 15 and under the age of 50, I think everyone that rides an ORV, 2, 3 or 4 wheels, needs to take a course and be held responsible for their actions, as if they were driving a car on the highway. I am glad to see a state start taking an interest, as the riders won't police themselves, which is a shame.
