RE: Alabama help!

Deerlick Creek COE .... they don't get much better than this place. Site 35 is our favorite but its difficult to get. Be aware..they close and lock the gate at 10 PM until 6 AM.
I hear good things about Lake Lurleen SP but I've never been there.

RE: TOWING MIRRORS

I have a different take on this...in most states you can only be 102" wide in total. If this is the case you can not make your mirrors any wider and be within that law.

RE: Awning roller? Anyone use it?

If your door is sharp or square at the top corners then I say go for it. If its round then I wouldn't bother.

RE: Bristol NASCAR race...........observation.............

I would venture to say that most of those empty seats are a direct reflection of the present economy. People are broke, me included. Its not just Bristol, but most races i've seen last year and this year have the same attendance issue.

RE: pulling out of parking lots...

I would not put wheels on the back. They will reduce the clearance even more and may damage your frame worse than letting it drag. If you can, have the axles fipped or at the very least have small low profile skid plate welded to eack frame member in the rear as another poster suggested

RE: Anyone in Tornado Country..........

Most injuries and deaths from tornados are from debris. Its like being inside a giant sand blaster. Everything picked up by a tornado is thrown around within it. Sheet metal, shingles, glass, brick, wood, tree limbs, gravel and even cars. I've looked at many cars that were sitting out in the open and went through a tornado that looked like they were pummeled with a slegde hammer over every square inch. The cause was debris being flung at it.
I have a friend that lives close to where an F5 went through. It was about 1/2 mile from his house. The only damage to his house was from a 2 x 4 that was found stuck in his front wall. The thing is...it came through the back wall and two interior walls before lodging in the front wall. He has a nice hole in his house. A helmet is a wise thing to have in your safe place.

RE: Bacon wrapped stuffed jalapenos

I usually don't wear gloves when preparing the jalapenos, but I will from now on.
The last time I made them I gotta hold of some peppers that were seriously hot. My hands and fingers burned and tingled for days. At times it was almost unbearable. I will never do that again.
Boy were they ever hot when we ate them, but they sure were good.

RE: The more I research, I-70 W of Denver scares the H out of me

This stretch of interstate is one of if not the prettiest stretches in the country. Just take your time and plan to do it in the day light hours and enjoy the views. You will never forget it.

RE: A trailer boo boo in snow

Sorry for your accident. When you got out of the truck the trailer brakes were released. Until then they were helping keep you in place. It likely still would have happened with chains on because of the weight of the TT pushing the truck. Something for all of us to remember in the future. I for one never really thought about it before.

RE: Carrying Spare Parts - Alaska Bound

As long as your sticking to state roads and not going into back country, forget the springs. If I were to take anything it would be an extra spare.

RE: New TT, Old Equal-i-zer

I'm not 100% sure but I think you can just change the size of the bars to deal with a lower tongue weight if need be. You may also need to do some adjusting. I would call them and ask about changing the bars. 800-478-5578

I don't like it either Skip. Still trying to get used to it and it is my primary source for finding campgrounds like it is for you. We love the government, COE, etc. campgrounds.

RE: Bay Breeze RV (Gulf Shores, AL)

We stayed there once and it was nice, quiet. Can be a little tight in there. Management is super nice and will help you get into your site. On Mobile Bay with nice views of the bay. Its quite a way from town and the beaches but not too far.
