RE: Toyo Tires

I contacted Toyo tire via email to the North American corporate office to inquire if they could provide a replacement for my 6 Michelin 295/80R22.5 XZA1. Their response was that they did NOT have a tire that would fit my needs.
If you have 295/80-22.5's....Toyo's 12R M111Z is within .1 of an inch of the same diameter. It wont be identical WIDTH because they are made differently and measured differently...but they DO have a tire that first and works A-OK. I've had BOTH and mine came with Toyo's.
There is a huge diffenence it weight capacity between the M111Z and the Michelin ZXA2, at least 900 pounds less for the toyo's and the savings on 6 Toyo's is less than $1200 bucks. I'll pass on the toyo's but thanks for the info.
You can buy whatever you wish...but as far as carrying 900 lbs MORE per tire...your flat wrong or cant read a chart.
The 12R-22.5's that I had from the factory on my CC...could handle more than 7500 PER TIRE...which means MORE THAN 15,000 lbs on a single tired axle. The more than is a slight amount but still "more than"
At 900lbs MORE per tire (=1800 lbs per single tired axle) you would be running AT LEAST 16,800 pounds on that axle..and I doubt that VERY seriously!
295/80R22.5 XZA2® Energy™ LRH
7830 S 7830 LBS at 120 PSI
Theres the Mich info from their website

RE: Another way to carry a unmounted spare tire

As long as someone doesnt bleed the air to let the coach settle down close to the ground. My rims alone are wider than my coach sits above the ground when the air is let out.

RE: Toyo Tires

Sully....interesting tires but don't know if I'd have enough clearance as mine are about 3" less diameter, plus my Michelins have done very well....just aged out...the sidewalls are perfect......
I wasnt suggesting you go to the 315 size Larry....But my own 295's carry over 7000 lbs when inflated to the specs...and surely your coach doesnt have 14K front axle weight....thats whay I asked how much weight you have on the front axle.
My 295-80's are good for 7800 lbs each in single applications..

RE: Toyo Tires

Well I got the tires today (295/75R 22.5 H). Had to drive about 100 miles round trip to get them. I ended up with 6 tires out the door for about $520 each. What a place, there is a guard shack at the entrance to the place. I guess he must have call the tire people and told them I was coming because when I got there two mobile trucks were waiting. Before I could get out of the camper they had jacks under the rear axle and wheels off the ground. It took them right at 30 minutes to change all 6 tires. Talking to them I could have had them come to the house for about $70. I spend nominally $54 in just fuel so for another $16 I could have stayed home. But I like driving the camper so it was a fun afternoon.
They used something call Liquid Balance. It looked like a quart of some type of liquid they put in the tire. It somehow compensates for any imbalances. The tires appear to be balance very well up to around 60MPH at that point up to 75MPH it feels a little out of balance on the front tires. A little vibration can be felt in the steering wheel. Minor issue and most of the time I drive 65MPH but today I had tires that were less likely to come apart at 75 mph so I did it.
The old tires were 7 years old and I could see signs of dry rot down in the root of the tread. So I guess it was just in time to replace them.
The Toyo's were a little squirrelly at first (like many new tires) but at the end of the day (50 miles) they were feeling much better.
The tire people told me to run the max pressure in the rear axle. I asked why? They said it will reduce the amount of sway or wiggle coming from the back as you drive down the road. I came back with 120 lbs in the rears did not notice much difference. Will try it for a few trips and then lower the pressure to about 95 lbs and see if there is any difference.
Thanks for all the advice and help.
Now I am really retired. Does not feel any different, just less money. But that's retirement.
Thats $250 EACH cheaper than I can get the equivalent here near Cincy.....geeze

RE: black water treatment tablets or liquid

Just water........plain old water. More the better.
They are holding tanks and I don't keep any 'stuff' longer than a week.
The toilet bowl holds water, the roof vent is clear & sewer drain hose/fittings seal so I don't smell any odors. I can not justify spending money on a 'chemical' that isn't needed.
With all do respect,
The chemicals do much more that just help deodorize. Used correctly they help break down the solids as well as toilet paper, clean the sensors and tank, as well as help to lube the waste valve.
IMHO well worth a couple bucks.
*high 5*!! Im with ya all the way
Thetford blue liquid is always in my coach

RE: CC Whats it worth?

Hurt is a relative amount How much pain is too much .. On a high level MH you will lose a bunch in 4 years. Price a 2002 today ( a 4 year older coach )and compare and you can figure the loss more closely. On a $250 coach a loss of at least25 grand a year ( decreasing ) is not unexpected.I believe once it goes beyond 10 years the Value will drop more drastically as Loans become difficult
A full inspection By a Cat/ Allison facility even at your expense would be minimum requirement if no records are available. Its being sold for a reason good news for you if it was a "retirement" from the ability to use the coach, not a mechanical reason
I always liked math in school. That tells me that a coach I shell out 250K bucks today....in 10 years isnt worth squat.
You need to ..1) Get serious...and 2) get into the real world and go look at used coaches

RE: CC Whats it worth?

Am looking at an 06 Country Coach Magna 525 42' at a camping world. Coach is a bit funky in that its 42' not 45' and has a queen bed instead of a king. Its got 50,000 miles on it which I take to be a good thing as its been used not sat around for years.
So the million dollar question is. What would a very good price on this coach be? I'm not in a hurry want to make sure I don't get to hurt when we re-sell it in a 3-4 years.
Thanks!
Jon
Then dont buy it at all. CC's aren't "throw aways" like some brands.....ya study them to get the floorplan that best suits you....you buy it and you keep it.
You'll never wear out the engine or the tranny...and the coach itself will stay right for you....but if you arent going to keep it...then dont spend the $$ to buy it now and complain about it for 4-5 years

It may be difficult to figure a price since most CC models were custom made.

RE: Wrecked my 96 Dynasty, need advice!

YOU take pics of your damaged coach...and take plenty. Even with film cameras pics are cheap. You might even get double prints made...one set for YOUR insurance company if they wish them.
Dont jump right in and settle at the first price / check HER insurance company gives you. THEY are the ones that have to clear their books of this accident...not you.
Be hunting for a top notch body shop for repair work....you DONT have to take it to "their" body man at all.
Hang tough...all will come out A-OK eventually. Sorry to hear of the wreck!

RE: CUMMINS C 8.3 DP- JUST TOLD I NEED A NEW HEAD/HELP?

As already stated...get it buttoned up and take it to your nearest Cummins shop and have THEM go over it and give you a price. Not saying it will be cheaper...but I am saying that if you have it done they will do a better job of it.

RE: Tire Question

2005 Fleetwood Discovery
Date Codes 10/05
Always garaged - no sun - no cracks
I would say that the probability of infant mortality (manufacturing defect) on new tires would be about the same as the probability of age related failure of the existing tires. I would keep the old ones. A TPMS for early warning is a good investment no matter what tires you run.
My tire dealer inspected my 7 year old tires using the criteria (sidewall cracks) they use to determine if a casing is retreadable and said they are fine.
X2
PS. I didn't have luck with a TPMS system and threw it out. I lost more air in the tires with that system and got sick of it. I just check the tires before every departure.
MM.
Got ya beat! I tried TWO different systems and found they both sucked!

RE: Tire Question

2005 Fleetwood Discovery
36,000 miles
Goodyear 275/70R22.5 Load H
Date Codes 10/05
Tread 12/32 Front 8/32 Rear
Always garaged - no sun - no cracks
Question would you start off on a cross US trip on these tires (Charlotte to Seattle and back) Or would you replace with new before you leave?
Id install new fronts and make sure all were slightly about usual inflation...say 5 psi..?...and have a go at it.
