RE: Howdy Doody spoons

Read an article online. Seems that along with many other Howdy Doody items sold in retail markets, this spoon was manufactured in a/o 1955. Valued at $10-35 depnding on condition. Were there 3 kids at home and everyone received one?

RE: PPL consignment sales,

Bought there - have nothing but good things to say about the experience. They move a lot of RV's in large part because there is no hard sell salesman following you around and no one tries to talk you into one you can't afford.

RE: Campfire recipes

Back in the middle ages, when I was young and tent camped, I used an old oven rack propped up by rocks over the campfire (or sometimes dug a hole for the fire with rack supported by the edge of the hole) and cast iron fry pans. You can cook anything in a cast iron pan.
Dry ice in a cooler of frozen things for later in the week - tape it shut and leave it closed until you are ready to use it.
When the fresh vegies and frozen meats were gone, we resorted to canned/boxed foods and made "casseroles" over the fire. Tuna casserole; spam, green bean and potato casserole; canned chicken with rice-a-roni and corn, canned chicken and dumplings or beef stew with additional canned vegies tossed in and cornbread in a seperate pan - just make up things that you can toss in one pan and let it cook - it all seemed delicious to us. Probably the fresh air. LOL

RE: Crossing into Canada and saving the Vegetables

Okay, never crossed with an RV before. Reading that some have a list that they read to the border agent, what do you put on the list? Is there a form that needs to be filled out prior to crossing (no guns, just normal food for personal us, & dog food).
Segel - on the list:
total amount of liquor, beer and wine
total amount of cigarettes
list of fresh vegetables on board
amount and kinds of meat, frozen of otherwise
items you intend as gifts on the other side
number of televsions, computers, cameras (so you do not get accused of buying them in Canada and brining them home)
pet food
You may need a health certificate for the pets
It is advisable that you contact your insurer to get a card which affirms that your insurance covers any liability in Canada.
Keep all your RX meds in the original containers.
Do not try to take any untreated wood. Nothing with bark, even a decorative item.
If you take over $10K with you, even in the form of travelers checks or checks made out to persons across the border - all combined - they will count it, may write down the serial numbers, checking account info., etc.
No pepper spray, bear spray, stun guns, weapons of any kind are allowed.
No, there are no forms to fill out prior to arriving at the window.

RE: Wrecked my 96 Dynasty, need advice!

Tom - slow down. Call the police department and ask about the process for obtaining an accident report. It may take 7-10 days before copies are available. Expect a fee for the copy.
Report the incident to your insurer.
Take the MH to a couple of body shops for estimates. Most likely the body damage can be repaired and repainted rather than replaced. Don't waste your time fighting for replacement if it can be repaired. You will not win even after spending a couple of years in litigation and a lot of money on a lawyer.
If the SF agent's (as in - person acting on behalf of SF)quote is far lower than the other estimates, something is wrong somewhere and don't be surprised if it is the body shop jacking the price up on you with crazy labor estimates. Often, signing the check is a settlement of ALL claims so if something is discovered that was unknown at the time of the estimates, you have no recourse. Have the body shop work directly with SF. If hidden things are discovered you haven't signed away your rights to have it repaired by endorsing the SF check.
Of course, you can negotiate a 'partial payment' agreement whereby you retain the right to request the hidden repairs for X amount of days. But, if it isn't reduced to writing formally by SF, it is worthless.
You should have no problems getting the MH repairs paid by the girl's insurance.

RE: Bird problemss on the deck

Try a rubber snake or 2. I have a mosaic tiled bird bath but the design sort of looks like a snake in the middle - the birds won't go near it.

RE: Perspective RV'er needing opinions

Take a day to go look it over and test drive it. If you are mechanically inclined, great; if not, take a friend who is with you.
Test every system to make sure it works properly, inspect for damage/leaks/rust, etc.
Know ahead of time that you may need to put out an additional $3K for tires, depending on the age of the ones on the MH. Also know ahead of time, that like a 12 year old car, you will have issues along the way just because of the age of the unit and things like the water pump, fuel pump, fuel lines, etc., disintergrate with time. What may be fine today will fall apart tomorrow. It is the nature of the beast.
I recommend that you visit the website at PPL Motorhome in Houston, TX. It is a consignment dealer with a large selection of pre-owned units which you can 'see'. It will help you to get a good idea of what you can get on your budget and you may find that the Damon is the perfect match for you or that it isn't the best bang for your buck.

RE: My loss

Locky - I am sorry to read of your Father's passing. I can empathize with you on the loss. May 13 was my Mother's birthday, she passed 5 weeks ago, within 2 years of my Father's death. They taught me everything I know and I miss them every minute of every day.
One thing we know is that our parents want us to go on with the business of living and they prepared us all along to do so without them.
I am crying with you my friend. And, yes it will get easier with time.
