RE: First class C should I increase our budget?

I have to smile at some of the posts... Here I sit, with a Tioga 29H rear bedroom Class C that sleeps six, on a Ford E350 chassis with the 460 V8 engine, a 1995 model. I have put new tires on it since I bought it, and replaced the engine driven A/C compressor clutch. It cost me $17K a couple years ago. Now, I'm looking for something with more power and more room, a V10 or diesel, with one slide (2 would be OK), either a C or an A, that sleeps 2 or 4. This time, I will keep looking until I find what I want. Oh, yeah, it has to be 10 years old, so I can put permanent registration on it! We have owned our /93 classC since 2000. Paid twenty two thousand, could get ten or twelve tomorrow! Been in every corner of the US, inc Alaska. Have no intention of selling or trading.

RE: Please....Tell me where to go!

I guess I am lucky! I have been to everywhere mentioned, and many more. If the OP has a passport, my recommendation is to follow the St Lawrence river from the Thousand Islands around to the bridge to PEI. Much better trip than the Pacific Coast Highway, (In my opinion)

RE: Alaska 2013 How Early?

I was under the impression that RVs were not allowed on the Going to the Sun highway. Forty years this summer since I traveled that area!

RE: First class C should I increase our budget?

Buying an RV is like looking for a wife. When you find the right one, you will know! We shopped for years until we found "the one". Bought it on the spot eleven years ago, have never found one that suited us better. Do not compromise, there is no need. Do not do yourself a disservice by only looking at new or a couple of years old. There are many well loved units five years or older out there, Remember, buy what you want, not what someone else feels you should have.

RE: How do you choose destination?

I realize that this heresy! But, I was very disappointed in Yellowstone. I still do not understand what the hype is all about. X2! We were SO much more impressed with Glacier! Indeed! The Glacier, Banff, Lake Louise areas are much more scenic and impressive than Yellowstone in my opinion.

RE: Class C RV Newbie

Jake: If you are still around, do not let them talk you out of your dreams! You are young enough that if you end up flat assed broke, you have plenty of time to recover and no one can steal the memories. I traveled across country by my self when I was twenty, still the best trip that I have ever taken.

RE: Alcan trip completed

We are flying into Fairbanks June 10, touring Denali etc for four or five days before boarding ship at Seward. Any recommendations on how heavy a coat/jacket is necessary in June? (I am rather cold blooded)

RE: Cost of having AIR conditioning ON?????

One should never ask questions concerning money on the classA forum. Some people cannot pass up the chance to pat them selves on the back!

RE: Financing First RV

Why the snide comment about trolls? I mentored a young fellow who worked for me, He bought his first house, duplex, the day after he turned eighteen. The second, two weeks later!

RE: Chassis Battery Recommendation

The starting battery in my /93 classC was installed 08/06/99. I leave the battery in all winter, Last driven 1st week Oct last year. I do not disconnect cables or use charger. The other day, the unit cranked over instantly as it has done for the past twelve seasons. I have no idea why this battery,(Interstate) has lasted so long. Maybe it has a pink bunny inside!
