RE: Class A Diesel or Gas?

Go and rent both, find the floor plan you like, then shop for the MH with that floor plan. After you find the MH then decide: How many miles am I traveling every year, Is it in my price range and not affect my lifestyle, what condition is it in, (Low Mileage not always a good thing), Tires aren't cheap! We are in our MH more than we are in our permanent home, BUT we only travel about 5,000 miles per year. When we bought our MH it was available on both gas and diesel, the diesel MH was approximately $20,000 more, I chose gas. Of course the arguments is that it is worth more at resale time, Of course you paid more initially for the MH. If we were traveling full-time and putting on over 15,000 miles per year I would probably have bought a diesel coach. I am not convinced that MPG is that much greater with a diesel vs gas, 1 mpg is not a lot, the price difference in our area is in the .50 cent per gallon range. Ultimately it is your choice, if you and your better half are happy and enjoying the MH then go for it!! We are having "too much fun" with our MH.

RE: Any good NC beach campgrounds???

How about the State Park on Ocracoke? We are self-contained and really enjoyed it there.

RE: Does such a thing as a decent gasser exist?

Our MH was available on DP chassis or gas, We chose gas, the DP was about $20k more, that bought us a lot of gas. We would buy it again!!!!

RE: Walmart parking lot stays - need advice please

I always ask the manager on duty if there is a problem staying, he/she will usually direct you to the area that they would like you to park. Even if there are other campers already parked I ask. We have never had a problem spending the night, sometimes it gets noisy.

RE: Class A motor home vs. car for trip out west

We just did a trip from Pa to AZ and back, we spent less than $200 for camping on the entire trip, I figured that was probably 2 nights in a motel/hotel. I am going in the MH, for all the reasons above. We did not count food costs as we seem to eat out a lot whether we are at home or traveling in the RV. We took the Jeep along and it made exploring the National Parks a lot of fun and. If you are retired go and buy your Golden Eagle pass for the National Parks and save money there.

RE: Where to find RV Mattresses - short queen

We went to Mattress world with the measurements and they had one made for us at a very good price. We bought the same mattress as what we have in our home, so we sleep great in both homes.

RE: Where is the fuel pump on my 2000 F53 chassis?

It is definitely in the fuel tank, mine died and had to be replaced--the fuel pump/sending unit and pickup for the genset costs about $700 + labor, I would drive it till it dies!

RE: From Hagerstown, MD west; I-68 vs Penn turnpike

Just drove the PA Turnpike from Breezewood to Irwin exit, not sure but from MM 165-MM 65- there is some construction from Breezewood to just past the Bedford exit, the next westbound exit, from there to the Irwin exit the road was very very good, I drtove up from FLA and I 95 in South Carolina and I 85 from Charlotte to VA, we were going to Martinsville was the worst. I 68 is very scenic but lots of up and down and curves. BTW the PA Turnpike tolls are high!! I usually bite the bullet and pay the tolls as it is an easier drive the I 68. What is your destination? That would determine which route.

RE: Any comments - 2000 Newmar Country Star Lazy Days

Look on the inside wall right behind the drivers seat and/or in the cabinets above the kitchen sink, Newmar puts info labels on the MH, there you will find the model number, I think Lazy Dayz is just a plate put on by them to promote Lazy Days.

Wow, that was terrible!!! Lived in snow country all my life, now that I can do it I head south in the winter so I don't have to travel in those types of conditions.

RE: Campground rules....

$450 per month in FLA is definitely in the low rent district, we are in the Tampa area and the average is in the $1,100 per month range. If no one complains then that means that everyone is happy and life is good. The people living there are probably very happy with living in warm weather 90% of the time. We were just in the Ft Myers area and the average there is in the $1,300 per month range.

RE: WINDSHIELD SHADES

We tried the interior aluminum foil things one year and the heat inside was very high, it also made it very warm inside the MH. Then we put the outside clip on shades on, they work great, and you can still see out of the MH not like living in a cave.
