RE: A "not real" camping night tonight.....and tomorrow.....and

Sorry to hear that. My son and daughter in law are in the process of packing to move from their rental to a house they just bought and a pipe under their master bedroom sink burst. When they finally found the shut off valve, 60+ gallons went into their bedroom, adjoining laundry room, dining room, and living room. Plumber came in to fix the botched job a previous plumber did that caused this, then a disaster recovery team came in to move everything. Thank goodness they will be moving out this next week and they have an extra bathroom and couple more bedrooms till then. That will save them some cleaning the crew said because they have to tear up the vinyl in both the laundry room and kitchen, as well as replace dry wall. Thank goodness too that it was a rental too.

RE: Grand Canyon Trailer Village pics

Thanks for sharing. THis is really helpful! We almost went one year and had to change our plans but this gives us incentive to go.

RE: Best route Bryce Canyon to Fishing Bridge Yellowstone

Begining of June will be going to Fishing Brige from Bryce.I have 3 days between reservations. My thought was to go Cody Wy and use east entrance.GPS and most mapping use west entrance.I don't mind not using intersate Those of you who have experence any suggestions. This firt trip in this area.Pulling fifth wheel. Thanks On the way home from Bryce we usually take highway 89 all the way to highway 6, then highway 6 to I15. Going on Highway 89 through Jackson and in the south entrance is also the way we like to go to get to Yellowstone. Since you have plenty of time I would suggest spending one night at Bear Lake, and another night at the Teatons. During June I recomend getting reservations for Rendezvous Beach state park at Bear Lake, and Colter Bay in Teaton NP. Its about 400 miles from Bryce to Bear Lake, and around 180 from bear lake to Colter Bay and about 70 from there to Fishing Bridge. They are doing major freeway construction from Provo to Sandy UT, try not to travel this stretch during rush hour. Gary The route from Bear Lake through Star Valley and Afton is beautiful. You'll go over Salt River Pass and it's beautiful. Not too bad of a pass either.

RE: I truly believe rescue dogs are thankful

What a beautiful story. So glad your little guy is going to be alright. All of our dogs have been rescue dogs. Our last little girl came from a hoarder - it has taken her several years to come out of most of her problems but she is one happy girl, as is our black lab and our maltese that was used as a breeder. All are spayed and happy little travelers.

RE: Winegard Trav'ler for Dish Network

Same here. We have two receivers also with no problems and we leave the satellite up the entire time we are out and parked. Agree that is probably the receiver. Flip them and see if the bedroom one is now the one with the problem. And if the front room still has the problem, then something is different and problematic withe the connection there.

RE: Best route Bryce Canyon to Fishing Bridge Yellowstone

Definitely take 89 through Alpine Junction and on into Hoback Junction then into Jackson. Avoid Teton Pass at all costs - this is a very steep and long pass. A lot of people do it but even with a well equipped tow vehicle we go around through Alpine - believe me, the seat pucker factor is not worth it. Enjoy your ride as much as you can.

RE: 9 Days and counting.....

Wow. You are going to have a wonderful time. We used to take three week trips, then new CEO said no more, so that was cut back to two weeks, now with new job - will have to wait to have a two week trip. By the way, the new job is well worth the sacrifice!

RE: Ford 350 DRW

We don't have air bags - our truck is stock, but we do have a Hensley BD3 with air bags and I think that makes a big difference.

RE: Data usage increased

Can't answer what is chewing up your data plan but to save you should change the settings to use WIFI when available and your data plan (4G) when not. We have this set on our Android phones an tablet and so far have not come close to the 1G on a 3G plan.

RE: Ford 350 DRW

Will you be towing a fifth wheel or hauling a truck camper? The answer here will help.

Winged One, Beautiful setup and photo. Hey, didn't you post on another forum? Is this the rig with the slide in slide?

RE: Forgot to close tank valves

I've read through all of this and wondering if cross contamination should be a concern? I'm not a fanatic and the gray tank is by no means clean but after reading all of this, I guess one shouldn't be concerned.

RE: Heartland Augusta

I too am sorry to hear of your experience with poor quality on your unit. The Landmarks are the highest end for Heartland - I bet if you contact their customer service directly at the factory and explain your complete dissatisfaction, they will offer to take care of all of it if you just bring it there. We too have been very fortunate with our rig and we bought it new in 2010. Good luck and wish you the best. BTW - here the link to the Heartland Landmark Owner's Forum. Get online and get some feedback from other Landmark owners.

RE: Slide Toppers

We had them installed on our last RV and our current came with them. There's a lot of benefits some of what you stated. The rain does stay out and they help keep the unit cooler. Some things to be aware of is when camping where it'll freeze at night, if it has rained prior to freezing, you'll need to be slow in bringing in your slides to allow the ice to slip off. Second, if it's windy, really windy, they do make some disconcerting noise but we've never had one rip. One thing to be aware of is what direction they roll up. The Carefree one we had installed after market on our TT rolled up (like the letter P laying with the loop of the P up). Our current ones rolls under (the loop of the letter P facing down) and for some reason that makes a difference. On the TT slide topper, it had a lot of mildew stains that we had to scrub, with our current and the direction it rolls, we have no mildew problems.

RE: new 5th owner and

Welcome to the dark side :B I second that. We used to have a neighbor when we had our last RV which was a 32' Komfort TT and he would tell us that "that's not camping . . . Hmppphh!" as he strolled away. Lo and behold 6 months later he bought an RV and it was a Bighorn Fiver - boy did I tease him about coming over to the dark side!

RE: Boondocking pet peeves, I really hate it when...

Some one parks and sets up camp 10' away from you with RV full of screaming kids, a large commercial generator, and the kids and animals are running loose all over the place. Amen! I really don't mind someone 20' away but one year there was a group of 5 RV's all with kids, dogs, and loud music. Then . . . wait . . . the kids were rafting down the creek behind us and none of the adults from their group was watching. Now, this is no slow ordinary creek, but a snow fed, swift running creek. Now, imagine being here then all of a sudden, melee breaks out! BTW - creek is deeper than it looks. We've got to get you out of that 5er and into a TC!!!! Earlier this week in SE OR. :C Thought about that but it'll have to be one with two slides and a recliner! Gotta have my recliner!

RE: Forgot to close tank valves

You're probably ok but performing a sterilization may put your mind to rest - you know - the one with bleach and water and flushing your tanks.
