RE: 15 amp appliance fuse

When I try to run the furnace, and turn the furnace on it blows the 15am appliance fuse on the converter. This fuse also works for the fridge, and co2 alarm. Only the furnace blows it out. I have replaced it and not turned the furnace on and it holds. As soon as I flip the furnace switch it is gone. I get same results even if I turn the fridge off. What can the problem be, I have tried plugged in to shore power, and on battery and get the same results.
I also can not use the control panel, says everything is empty, normally when I check the battery for charge strength I get full power, when plugged in, today nothing.
What could this be? I am still under complete warranty from Forest River so no worries, Just like to know before I take it in, just in case I can fix it.
Hi..YC1 is pretty sharp.. He has helped me immensely over the last 18 mos.
My rookie suggestion is along the same lines, check and be sure the wires that go to your furnace are crimped and connected tightly.
Recently my MAGNUM inverter was having issues... CULPRIT was bad connections,, WIRES were NOT crimped tight causing overheating and swelling of wires which caused them to malfunction to the point they had to be replaced.
Good Luck..

RE: Leaving Coach for a Week-Hooked Up

HI..personally we do not leave either valve open... We use the gray to rinse out the SANICON BLACK side..
Dump back, equalize both with gray water... Dump black... equalize both with gray water..and so on...Final dump/rinse w/gray.
Hope this helps.

RE: Leaving Coach for a Week-Hooked Up

Hi....we have a dometic.. It appears rather safe, neighbors have stated no incidents with vandalism etc..
50 AMP hookup is on the post, with a Surge guard inside the bay locked. (FWIW)
Thanks for input..

RE: Leaving Coach for a Week-Hooked Up

I would put away:
The water hose
The sewer hose
The power cord
because some jerk could turn on/open/steal.
If you have covers over ceiling vents I would crack a couple open just to let fresh air flow.
And have you discussed leaving your rig 'unattended' with the CG management/staff?
Mr Old Biscuit... Thanks.
I have not discussed with RV MGMT. Will do... No cell phone connections in the middle of the ocean...
Power CORD...ummm was going to leave hooked up..So we would not wear down batteries...
Disconnecting all hoses, works for me.
Turn of house and Chassis batteries... ???

RE: Full-timing - Budget Worksheet - file fixed! Updated 1-21-09

I really appreciate the budget help in this thread. We're a couple of years out from moving to a full-timing lifestyle and, after working through the income side of things, the budgets here are very helpful for the expense side.
I'm a bit concerned with the campground costs. At this time, I think we'll start out moving maybe three times a month for 6 months a year and then land close to "home" for the rest of the year. During the longer side of things I can see us paying under $400 a month.
When I look at the areas we'd like to explore during the gypsy six months I see lots of campgrounds that would cost us $30-$35 a night, even with 10 day stays. I see people talking about corps of engineers campgrounds, etc. and they might be just right, but we do want to do some serious sightseeing during those earlier gypsy months of our full-timing. Do I need to budget up over $800 a month during those travels or will we be able to find nice (I'm not talking about high end resorts or anything like that) reasonably priced, 10 nights or so stay campgrounds in, say the New England portion of the country?
Thanks in advance for any helpful replies.
Hi, we have been Fulltimers for the past 16 mos.. We have a Son and his family who live in Ladera Ranch, CA.. For Instance, we spent time in Oceanside, CA for approx 6 mos... CG was $775 + Approx $75 for elec... We consider that expensive..
Now we are on the East Coast visiting with our Son and his family till 6/1/2011 thru 1/1/2012..Our CG rent here is $420 a month, includes Elec.. Once we go to Tampa(1/5/2012) our CG rate will be approx $650 p/m (Elec is included).
Our Budget we try and track everything... Here are just a few.. Keep in Mind Medical and Loans you may have..
RV Lodging-CG Costs,RV Fuel,Jeep Gas,RV Propane,Camping, World, Groceries,Restaurant/Entertainment,Merchandise,RV SVC
I am working on my spreadsheet and will break it down by months..i.e Jan thru Dec... The one sheet will reflect yearly or current totals..
Will share once I have it perfected..
Take Care and enjoy your RVing..

RE: ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS

Hamlake....You most likely tripped the circuit breaker on the Inverter. Check your Inverter for one or two circuit breakers on the side of it. The Inverter should be in a bay near your batteries.
Hi..late to the post..But also check your inverter(maybe in basement) for a fuse/breaker that might have popped out..

IPAD2 VS Samsung(Verizon) +WIFI 3G or the rest.....

Hello out there in the virtual world.
We are trying to decide which tablet best meets our needs, please share your experience with us however you see fit.
We do like the Samsung tablet, but do have some concerns with the books apps. We hear the term "Jailbreak" to get certain apps and then we are told we do this the warranty/support has been jeopardized.
Not clear about these data plans. we are not looking to increase our out of pocket expenses. We currently have Verizon MIFI 5GB plan till July 2012.
I hope I have provided enough info to at least get some beneficial input.
Thank you all in advance..

RE: Approx Cost to install Winegard Trav'ler Dish

Thanks to everyone. Since posting this originally, I've updated to indicate that I will be going with the DirecTV version Trav'ler SLIM LINE Ka/Ku Multi-Satellite SK3005 model, which is about $300 higher in price that the lower priced Trav'ler. I expect I'll probably pay about $1500 for the unit itself.
As for the install... I'll be hiring that out... trying to get some pricing info on that so that, hopefully, I won't pay too much.
Hi. just had this done by CAMPING WORLD, they were not the cheapest but they are Nationwide. Make sure they have HDMI CABLES if you want HD.. Make sure the cables are the correct length.
Secondly Call DirectV and tell them you need BBand Converters for all of your TVs in your RV. (You may not need them depending on which receivers you buy or have). They will mail to you, they are free..
I have HDR24 & HD24..
Here is a site for info on BBand Converters
BBand Converter Info
If you need to discuss, PM me..
Good Luck.
