RE: black water treatment tablets or liquid

Just water........plain old water. More the better. They are holding tanks and I don't keep any 'stuff' longer than a week. The toilet bowl holds water, the roof vent is clear & sewer drain hose/fittings seal so I don't smell any odors. I can not justify spending money on a 'chemical' that isn't needed. With all do respect, The chemicals do much more that just help deodorize. Used correctly they help break down the solids as well as toilet paper, clean the sensors and tank, as well as help to lube the waste valve. IMHO well worth a couple bucks. The 'chemicals' are a great marketing tool.....but the tanks are holding tanks and I dump/rinse them weekly. No need for any chemicals as toilet paper & solids flow thru 3" dump line quite well. Tank is cleaned as much as needed with a just good rinse. Water lubricates the dump valve seals by not letting them dry out as I always dump a few gallons of water back into tank after dumping. So IMHO chemicals are NOT worth the money as they are not needed.

RE: Shopping failures...

Isn't that pretty much the norm in Billings........"We can order it for you" That's pretty much what I use to hear in Casper.

RE: Cold Water Heater

Your Atwood 10 gallon combo with two switches and one red lens worked correctly. The light is only a visually indicator of a fault (lock-out) condition. The light will come on under a couple of situations: 1) Propane makes three attempts to properly lite.....if it fails it goes into 'lock-out' & light comes on to visually indicate fault. Turn propane switch off then back on light goes out & propane will attempt to lite 2) If the normal t-sat fails to shut off (140*F) and the ECO t-sat opens (170*F) the 'lock-out' light will come on to visually indicate fault (gas or electric). Turn switch off, reset ECO t-sat (if you have that style) or you have to wait until water cools down enough for ECO to reclose. Your water got really hot because the ECO had to open to turn heating source off.

RE: Toilet seal fixin'

I turn the water off, hold the blade/ball open with my knee and clean away. Starting to have a little difficulty doing it that way.....knees giving me some problems so I'm going to try opening the blade and then setting a heavy bucket on the flush handle.

RE: Can you bear to part with your "man toys"?

When we hit the road the hardest things to see go where my 1948 John Deere, my extensive collection of reloading equipment and a large selection of weapons (couldn't take them all). Air tools, sand blaster, welding equipment, cutting torches, etc. etc. etc. ALL gone.........time for a 'different' lifestyle. Funny thing is........I don't miss them NOW

RE: Banking while on the road

How do you bank while traveling across the country? Go with a national bank like BoA or Wells..or keep your local? What issues do you encounter? What kind of banking are you looking to do while traveling? Pay bills......on-line banking. Secure, easy, no hassles. Get cash......cash back at just about any grocery store, Walmart etc. Deposits......send via snail mail to your bank if no ATM/Bank available Use debit/credit...... Haven't run into any issues past 5 yrs. traveling FT. We bank the same way now that we did before hitting the road. Rarely went/go to an actual bank in years.

RE: Help suburban sw6de runs out of hot water very quick

Hi, There is supposed to be a tube that goes to the bottom of the hot water tank. So the fresh water going in should go to the bottom, then not mix with the outgoing hot water. Then as the cold dense water flows in, it should be staying at the very bottom, until it heats up, and not mix with the lighter weight hot water. Many water heaters use a plastic tube to carry that hot water to the bottom of the tank. Home water heaters even have a warning to not use more than 110F inlet water. My guess is you might have a broken water inlet tube, you have all the symptoms. Fred. YES........that would explain the sudden change in water temp. Broken dip tube........duh

RE: Help suburban sw6de runs out of hot water very quick

Yes you have a 1 valve (2 position) system with check valve in hot water out. Your picture shows valve in correct position for normal use (handle parallel with line) allowing cold water to go in water heater and come out top hot water out. (When you turn valve so handle is perpendicular and parallel with line that ties hot/cold together that is bypassing water heater.....no water goes in cold inlet and check valve on hot outlet stops water from back flowing into water heater thru hot outlet.) From your description sounds like the valve is NOT closing off the bypass side and cold water is flowing thru bypass line mixing with the hot out (maybe even closing the check valve so that nothing but cold flow is flowing). Heat the water..then open hot side on closest faucet....then change the position of valve several times and see if it improves hot water flow (valve may have debris in valve seat stopping it from sealing off). No improvement..... Then remove valve and inspect/clean IF you can see anything that is obvious.........otherwise get a new valve. (You will need to drain water heater before removing valve......time for a drain/flush anyway) Good luck....

RE: Water pump, Water heater

"As soon as I turned it on it blew a breaker switch in my house" Are you plugged into a 15A/20A outlet at house/garage? And breaker for it tripped....then you may have been fortunate and NOT have burned up the element. Maybe...... Electric element pulls approx. 12A so any other load when you turned it on could have put you over house breaker amp rating.

RE: Lost 50 AMP service

I know you have removed PI and sent it back..they tested and said checks OK. When you removed it...did you connect wires to cord and try to use 50A power without the PI in place?

RE: Hot water heater problem

The on/off switch controls +12VDC to the relay....so check that you have +12VDC to switch and thru switch when 'on'.....if so then go to outside compartment. 2 sets of connectors on circuit board......4 pin and a 6 pin 4 pin Blank slot, brown, white & orange With switch 'on'......check for +12VDC on brown (t-stat) & white (from switch) \\\\\orange is from switch for gas///// 6 pin Green (case grd.), green (-12VDC), Red (ECO...gas valve), Blue Lock-out lamp), Yellow (to relay), Brown (Thermal cut-off & other side of t-stat) With switch 'on'.......check for +12VDC on Yellow, Red, Brown With +12VDC on Yellow, relay goes to grd. energizing 110VAC to element. If relay is faulty/bad contacts then no 110VAC to element. Black is 'hot' from AC Breaker

RE: It Does NOT get any better thab This

Yes it can get better........go FT and you get to do it every day :B Before we went FT, I really, REALLY looked forward to camping. Nothing got me more relaxed than a camping trip....total stress relief. Until it was time to go BACK! That was one of the things that pushed us into going FT......no having to go BACK. Toast a marshmallow for me......and enjoy!!

RE: 2001 F-250

HAHAHA umm... so new I am not sure if you are joking hallock5..lol Your original post "2001 Ford F250 short bed with an 8' lift". We know you don't have an 'eight foot lift' on truck (8") but you've getting a bit of ribbing about it. Go back to stock height.....stock 'E' rated tires (or upgraded) not off-roaders. 350 rear suspension is a plus. Short bed......might need slider hitch. Depends on design of front cap on 5th wheel. Don't want to whack back of truck cab and blow-out back window when making sharp turns...forward or backing up. Stock tail gate is fine......just remember to open before hitching up, close after hitching up and open again before unhitching.
