RE: RV Tax Fulton County Georgia

Georgia advelorum tax has recently been changed. It will affect new purchases and can be significant, I would read up on it before I did anything.

RE: TX Registration Fees Explode!

You all are welcome to come to Georgia!Tax on MH is on the value just like autos. My 07 Holiday Rambler tag and tax is over $2300.00 per year. After 5 years almost $10,000 in taxes !!!!! Many have moved their MH to avoid this onerous tax. Never let it be said the state of Ga. has missed the chance to collect tax, personal property, real property, income and sales and even splost and special local taxes. Not to forget all the licenses, fishing , hunting, driving, business and marriage.

RE: "Problem Class A" or is this normal?

The lemon law cuts both ways! A fellow we know had a Alfa Gold declaired a "Lemon". He was stuck with it after the company went broke and could not give it away. It sat in his yard unuseable for years.

RE: residential refrigerator - ice makers

We have always turned off the ice maker, even before we replaced the Dometic with our new Samsung. We turn it off to prevent water from spilling during the trip. The new Samsung makes many times the ice of the old Dometic and will fill the ice bin overnight. We wish we had replaced the frig. sooner.

RE: When you bought first class A, how long did it take you to?

We "camped" when we were young, tent, pickup camper and ocassional rv rental. When retirement came along we wanted to "RV" so I asked a neighbor about his recommendations. He saved me a lot of time and money. He had gone the traditional route up through the various types of campers and now had a diesel class A. He said to skip all the steps and get a diesel pusher. We found a 32ft.Itasca and had a great time in it until the grandsons came of age and wanted to travel with us. We traded up to our 42ft Holiday Rambler and see no reason to ever trade again. I suggest seeking advice when you are considering "RVing" from a friend or group, and not a dealer.

RE: Switching to a electric fridge - what brand / model

WE just replaced a Dometic NDA1402 with a Samsung 197. I would like to sell the fully working Dometic. The new unit fit great in the cabinet with minor adjustments. We never boondock, but we have 2000w pure sine wave inverter that can easily run the new frig. The estimate of wattage can not be easily calculated from the annual KWH. Too many variables:ie , running time is not constant, therefore some may run shorter or longer depending on usage annd ambiant temp. The new Samsung model 197 has a est. annual KWH of about 450kwh. The newer frig. are much more efficient than the older ones and as a result are fining their way into the new RVs. Apalachee RV in Auburn GA,a full service and repair shop, installed the new frig. and did a great job, exceeding my expectations. I have photos and can send if desired.

RE: Towing a Silverado 4x4 extended cab

The actual weight of the truck is posted in the driverside door opening. Our 06 model is 5400lbs. It towes great and has extra space due to the fiberglass cap, that keeps everything nice and dry. We have disconnected the truck when in steep mountain area to speed up our climbs and save the brakes going down steep grades, Other than that we sometime can forget the truck is back there. The Chev /GMC are easy to set up for towing.
