RE: Non Commercial Class B License California

I will let you guys know about the progress. I just got the permit. Here's what I had to go through. I picked up the paperwork prior to my appointment and filled everything before. I didn't have the physician's note because the lady told me I don't need it. I just filled out self-medical form (whatever it's called). The DMV lady had no clue about this license. She had to make phone calls to main office in Sacramento and asked various people in the office to figure it out. I was given two test. One was the motorhome test that you have to study the booklet, which was easy. You just have to read the booklet once and it will be ok to pass. The second one was regular Class C test. She told me to do the front page which had 18 questions. I was allowed to miss 3. I didn't study for it at all. I had to guess most answers. Still I passed. After long 2.5 hours, with appointment, later I got the permit. Now I have to find out the driving and skill test. Once I am done I will post it again.

RE: Non Commercial Class B License California

I just went to CHP office and DMV to clarify some answers, and seemed like no one had any clear answer. DMV doesn't have a record of the length of my coach at all. It only had year, make and name. The lady said that they don't have a way to know the length of a coach from their system. CHP office didn't have a clue and told me to measure the coach and if it's longer than 40', get the class B license. I am sure a lot of Rvers in California have coaches with 40' name, but usually the coaches are longer than 40' if measured from bumper to bumper. Does everyone have Noncommercial Class B license? It gets more and more confusing when I research more. Edward

RE: Non Commercial Class B License California

If you're over 40' but under 45' you do need a non-commercial class B Clicky however it is based on what is shown on your vehicle registration. Regardless of the coach's actual overall length, if the registration says 40', then you don't need one. I just looked at the registration card and it seems there is no mention about length of the coach in California.

Non Commercial Class B License California

Hello all, Because of my motorhome's length, 06 Fleetwood Revolution LE 40E which has length of 40ft and 11 in., I am trying to get Class B license in California. Can anyone tell me about skill tests and driving tests? How I can prepare for the test? Any school or instructors? Any information would be welcome. Thanks in advance. Edward
