RE: I-10 to Orlando

Just returned from a 19 day out trip to TX and back. Took I-10 to I-12, back to I-10 to San Antonio. I-10 in FL/AL was very, very good, MS. Westbound I-12 before it comes back to I-10 was the pitts. It was raining, rough, construction and felt motorhome was going to pieces. Out of Lafayette, LA was better to Beaumont, TX and after that, pretty good. Came back mostly the same way, eastbound was a little better on I-12.

RE: Ticks!

Found 2 during our trip to TX. Very unusual. One was in mh and the other on DH hand. None on furkid, been checking him daily. First ticks we have found in several years.

RE: Hurricane on-demand waterpump location

Update... Project finished (I think.) Pump was under bed beside the fresh water tank. No leaks found at pump or any indication of leaks. Yesterday I checked the dog shower and turned both faucets on and then off. Rewrapped the line/shower head around the faucets. Pump inside ran fine today. Tried several times. No cycling. I think with the rough roads I have been on, somehow one of the faucets must have gotten turned just enough to drip some water out. The plywood was actually in 3 pieces, on hinges, so only had to undone one. Thanks to all for your suggestions.

Hurricane on-demand waterpump location

I have a 2009 Hurricane FourWinds, model 30Q and am trying to locate the on-demand waterpump. It is cycling when switch is on and no water is being used. Called dealer and they said it sounded like a leak or bad water pump, but didn't know where it was located. Called FW customer service and they told me where it "should" be, well, it isn't where it "should" be. Tried to locate by manual, but it appears that is a generic manual for the Hurricane, so no help. If anyone knows exactly where to look for it, I appreciate it. Next step is to tear the bed down, which is no easy feat as the plywood is screwed down (no storage, no lifts.) I think it may be under there,
can't seem to find location by listening. Did I mention I am at the end of a 2,500 trip? At least it's not at the beginning of the trip.

RE: Is it worth it?

Keep it, put your own touches in it and fix what is absolutely necessary. Enjoy using it and your parents will be delighted to see you are taking an interest in it.

RE: How long does your Propane Last?

With our Class B PW, it has a very small LP tank. I haven't used anything on LP in the 3 years we have owned it, but do know it has a small tank. Our Class A only has an 18 gallon tank, which is also small and I have just used the LP daily on a trip and the gauge went down about 3 gallons at the most for a week, with heat on in the mornings. Tank only fills to 80%. Using fridge on LP, WH on LP and a little cooking, IMO a tank every 10-14 days would seem about right for the size our PW Excel TS has.

RE: Bedroom slideout stuck or something

Do you have any type of road service? Maybe a call to them and they can walk you through some steps to check it? Have you tried starting the engine and letting it run for a few minutes and then try to bring the slide in? It can be lots of other things, but this might be a starting point. Good Luck.

RE: Our dog made us pay for our mistake

When we were trading rigs, we were carrying stuff from the former one to the new one, looked down and here comes my cocker spaniel with his ball in his mouth from the "old" unit, going to the new unit! He was helping... just making sure his ball got put in the new one, I guess. That was really cute and funny.

RE: giving a pill to a difficult dog

Our cocker spaniel got where he would not take a pill of any kind. Heartworm,
antibiotic, whatever. I tried almost all of the above suggestions and finally just gave up. His Dr. will give him a shot for an antibiotic and we have put him on a topical treatment for heartworms. He got suspicious of food and if he even got a whiff, that was the end of eating for that evening. The most success I had was a small, raw, hamburger, meatball size and put the pill in that. He couldn't resist that for a while, then that went by the wayside. His Dr. said raw hamburger meat was not good for him. So, back to shots, topical treatments. CS will be 11 tomorrow.

RE: Any good cg's in Wilmington NC?

We stayed at the Wilminton KOA a couple of years back. It was very nice, only problem we had was the dusty roads. It was very dry the time we were there and the dust was pretty bad. Otherwise, very friendly office staff, nice sites and easy for day-tripping.

RE: How do I protect the RV paint from bug hits

I am currently on a trip from FL to TX and before we left, I waxed the front of the motorhome really good and put Rain-X on the windshield. The bugs were bad one day and I cleaned them off that evening with a bucket of water and cloth.
No problems. I have used the wet dryer sheet in the past and like above poster stated, wash residue off.

RE: Florida in our Roadtrek Sprinter

Our tradition for Christmas is Tropical Palms in Kissimmee, usually check in on Dec. 23 and leave on Dec. 26. We went through Silver River State Park in Ocala and have thought about going there for a couple of days.

RE: Kwickee electric steps

We just used an ordinary magnet on the inside to check it. Another person on a trip told us that one. It did open the steps for us, that time, however, it wasn't the real problem that time. The door magnets can be purchased at a dealership, usually.
There is a four-way plug underneath the steps. I pulled it apart and plugged it back. but, PLEASE be careful when working under the steps. They can come out at any time and if hands are in the way.. I made sure they were turned off
at the switch and then got my hands out of the way before turning the switch back on or trying to open the door.
Also, if you can hear a click and nothing works when you open the door, there is a nipple on the motor underneath. A good tap with a hammer may help (it did for me!) Also, again, please keep your hands out of the way.
We also had a loose ground wire.. just a thought,

RE: Toadless C Owners, Do You Feel Limited?

When we had our Class C, we were toadless. We just planned our days out and did errands on way in. Stayed put for the evening. Didn't feel it was an inconvience at all. But, also liked the fiver and truck combo. Now have a Class A and toad. Used to the toad and wouldn't want to take an A where we took the C.. C was much easier.

RE: North Georgia Mountains

We stayed at Cross Creek RV Park, Mountain City, GA. US441, 2 miles north of Clayton. Very nice, small, about 23-25 sites. Very friendly, helpful owners.
Passport America, too. Lots of areas to do day-tripping in. Dillard House close by.
River Vista in Dillard is also very nice, stayed there a few years back.
Creekwood, just north of Helen is also nice.
