RE: SI-GI Windows

Our 2000 coach also came equipped with the Se-Gi windows. Ours suffered the inner seal creep between the windows. Six windows were replaced by Se-Gi no charge for windows but I paid shipping and did the replacement myself. Last two windows to fail were the cockpit windows. Contacted Se-Gi but they no longer had that particular frame in stock. Found a place in Vancouver WA Peninsula Glass and while there had the cockpit windows repaired and must say they did a great job, even moved a cross member of the frame up higher out of our line of vision.

RE: Wrecked my 96 Dynasty, need advice!

I would highly recommend you send a copy of the accident report to your insurance carriers claim center and let them know what happened and how it's being handled. You then may want to solicit the advice of your claims center agent. Good luck and I hope all goes well with your repairs...

RE: Floor Plan - TV Placement

Our 2000 coach has a 32" LCD TV mounted at eye level behind the passenger seat angled toward our driver side L-shaped couch. Very comfortable to view. Most coaches of that era had the front overhead TV which to us was very uncomfortable to view.

RE: Generator will not stay running?

Based on your signature it appears your generator is a gas Onan 5.5kw model and not a diesel generator. We experienced a similar problem with our Onan 5.5kw unit in 2010. Finally discovered the fuel line from the tank to the generator had splits in it so fuel pump was sucking in more air than fuel from tank. Had a new fuel line installed and problem solved, generator now working OK. Just another possibility, though may not be the problem with yours. Good luck with finding and resolving your problem..

RE: Might be time to trade up

I drive part time for a motorcoach (charter bus) company. Gonna have shop foreman and RVer. Check it out. Good idea, if everything checks OK, go for it and enjoy.

RE: Newbie question about dual a/c units

Our 1st coach, a 1984 Airstream with a 30amp system worked that way, however we could run both units off our 110vac generator.

RE: Furnance Fan will not shut off

Most likely you may have a faulty circuit board on your furnace that will need replacing.

RE: TPO roofs inthe hot sun???

Our 2000 coach has a TPO roof and for 12 years when not traveling it sits in our driveway exposed to the hot NV sun. We do have solar screens covering all windows on our coach when stored. Haven't cleaned it as often as I should, however it's still holding up with no leaks to date. It appears to be a fairly durable roofing material. Probably will need replacing in a couple of years or so. As far as the interior, if it will be stored w/o air conditioners running, probably be a good idea as others suggested,to open vents a bit. Also, I would fill the toilet bowl with water to keep the seal from drying out. We found by setting a couple of large bowls of water, one in living room and one in bedroom helps in maintaining some humidity for interior wood parts.

RE: V10 plugs / power issues

If you're referring to that small hole in head casting by that blue/black electrical connection, that's normal, it's the same on ours, not sure why it's there.

"I'm opened minded Jim, and you brought up a good point! You could be right! " Thanks J-R, but most of the time I'm not---:B Jim

RE: Triton 10 or 454 better?

I've owned both in RV's and I prefer the Chevy 496 over the Ford Triton. I'm not bashing the Triton that I owned it was a very good motor, the chevy has more sick-em for passing and mountain driving IMHO. That probably holds true for the earlier v10's however with the newer 3valve 362hp with 457lb ft torque v10's the jury may still be out.:h

RE: Motorhome Insurance

We've had our first and current coach insured by Foremost Insurance Co. since 1995. Over the years we've filed a number of claims, one on our first coach was rather substantial, and on our current coach we've filed several claims for windshield replacements. All of our claims were handled promptly with absolutely no hassle. We have full coverage with $250 deductible and have never had an increase in our annual premium of $901.00. Some may feel our annual premium a bit high, and it may be, however considering the excellent service we've received from Foremost, we're OK with it. If interested, here's Foremost's web site: http://www.foremost.com/products/motor-home/ Good luck with your choice of an insurance carrier and safe travels..:)

RE: Motorhome Insurance Through Hartford (AARP)

Thanks, Guys. Handled. It was a bit of an insurance fire drill, as State Farm who we had insurance with for decades cancelled all home owners policies in our area. Brett, did they give a reason for cancelling the home owners policies?? Just curious, we have our home and 2 vehicles insured by State Farm and our coach with Foremost. Jim

RE: How long do the radiator hoses last on a V10 F53?

With 74k miles we still have original hoses & belt on our 12 year old coach. At 90k miles when I take in for transmission service I'll have them checked out and replaced if necessary..

RE: Triton 10 or 454 better?

We had a 1984 coach on a GM P30 chassis with the 454, and now we currently own a coach on the Ford f53 chassis with the v10. As far as I'm concerned, of the 2 coaches we've owned, the Ford f53 chassis with the v10 is much better, hands down. The very early v10's prior to 2000 did have some spark plug issues, however I haven't read very many posts on the RV forums from those who had issues with the spark plugs. With exception of the Workhorse "W" series chassis I would consider the Ford f53 chassis superior to the GM P chassis for motor home application, having had both. Good luck with your search

RE: Motorhome Insurance Through Hartford (AARP)

Brett, I know this doesn't address your question about Hartford, however if you're considering a change of insurance carriers, I would highly recommend considering "Foremost Insurance Co." We've had our first and current coach insured with Foremost since 1995, during which time I've filed several claims which were handled promptly, no hassle, and to date, our premium has never increased. Here's their site if at all interested: http://www.foremost.com/products/motor-home/ Best Regards and safe travels, Jim
