RE: Do you search for that elusive "Made in USA" label?

For the sake of members education Hong Kong Special Administrative Region of the People's Republic of China Hong Kong is one of the world's leading financial centres. Its highly developed capitalist economy has been ranked the freest in the world by the Index of Economic Freedom for 15 consecutive years Population over 7 millions. Dare to compare position of HK v/s USA in the Index of Economic Freedom?

RE: Some real questions.

-Why it took 50 years after inventing camping chairs to install cup holders in them? -why 50 years after landing on the moon we still can't manufacture reliable garden hose connectors?

RE: Bad Gas-Updated

What refinery brand has to do with condensation at certain gas station tank? :h Last time I had some water in gasoline was 17 years ago. For about a decade California has mandatory double walls underground gas tanks. Now my son makes big overtime overlooking testing grounds around old stations for contamination.

RE: sewer hoses

I've been dumping black tank with SS and no water boost after bringing the coach home. My connection was 30' long with only 6" drop. The moving motion grinds the black tank contest into a soft pulp that flow via 1" hose just fine. Flush it with gray water and you can pretty safely get around without washing. However "fresh stuff" require water boost for grinding.

How about Hong Kong? ;) Most of electronics come from there.

RE: Gas vs Diesel Class A

This is an age old debate. But here it is again. Diesel Pushers will run you 30 to 40 thousand more up front to buy. . How-come we come from diesel engine to pusher v/s front engine. There are ClassC diesels, where the option adds just couple of thousands. With $300 fill-ups and about 20% fuel savings the option will pay for itself awfully fast. Not very popular option, but id does exist.

RE: Gas vs Diesel Class A

I am buying diesel exclusively. The only gas engines are in my son's cheap car, pressure washer and weed whackers. Bad part is that on US market the affordable diesels are not available and they are sold in luxury vehicles only. Would less than 20 grands an European car making 800 miles on small tank sold here, how many drivers would buy gas commuter? The 20 mpg Sprinter motorhomes sell well over 100 grands. Do you know the European prices on them? Would make you flying there and spend a year traveling Europe, than ship it to US still saving money.

RE: Trojan T-105, Wow, what a cost!

Well the California houses that cost $400k in 2004 just dropped down to $600k.

RE: Trojan T-105, Wow, what a cost!

Gang, When we bought our present coach, a '99 Bounder 34V, the original house batteries were loosing some zip. So off to the local battery shop that sold Trojans.(Batteries that is) I picked up two Trojan T-105 6V deep cycle batts for, $57.00 ea. That was 7-4-04. Well, they're bulging and not holding a good charge like they did when they were new so The $40 Sam's batteries I bough at about the same time work just fine thank you very much.

RE: Speed Limit Signs: Do U follow Truck limits or Car limits?

The 318 HP I have in my coach push me faster than 70 limit we have on our freeways only downhill. With the car? Have you seen "90 mph" limits in US ? ? :B

RE: Vanishing Jobs

Having friends in different professions I noted tens of jobs vanishing from the World permanently. Who remembers screen printing, or how many travel agencies still exist in your neighborhood? The long time travel agent I know is manufacturing steel gates right now. Even automotive mechanic seems to be vanishing profession. Today's cars are mechanically bulletproof, while they need computer programmer to stay on the road. With high cost of repairs and cars getting cheaper and cheaper any car blowing engine after warranty is going to be junked and new car bought. Most likely on the Internet, since car salesman walking the lot is becoming a dinosaur.

RE: Dancing With The Stars

I don't care how they do it, but IMHO they do excellent job. Mark again IMHO is the best fit and best performing dancer on the team and knowing well how to use the advantage. Hope he wins in present round.

RE: Do you search for that elusive "Made in USA" label?

I've been using Chinese (Taiwan) automotive socket/ratchets set for 25 years. Couple of socket crack in this period , but I also broke tens of US made tools in that period. Including about 20 Craftsman screwdrivers and couple of Proto wrenches.

RE: sewer hoses

:hWhat's the point with full ups to use the sewer solution??? I could understand being in a place without full ups and running the small garden hose somewhere to dump, but with full ups the sewer connection is right there and you would just use your regular sewer hose after the tanks were full enough to dump. Just like you would do at the dump stations..... As pointed above SS is much cleaner to deal with than the stinky one. I have both in my coach and SS with 50' of extension pipes. My first choice is to use 3" hose for not worrying about dumping the black tank at the end of camp. Unfortunately most of sewer connections are at the end of parking spot, while sewer outlet on my 40' coach is about 1/2 the length of it. So the 20' big hose seldom is long enough to connect and I never wanted to deal with extensions and than dealing with separating them and cleaning. With SS I flush whole system with clean water without disconnecting it. Meaning I never touch contaminated part.

RE: unlimited minuets, unlimited text, unlimited mobile web

I have read most of the rules and etc on both plans. It appears there is no roaming charges for any call to any where, as long as it is in their coverage area. Is this a reasonable assumption. The trick is in the "coverage area". My tracfone deducts 1 minute for 1 minute of talk in my residential area and than deducts 2 minutes for 1 minute talk outside. Again with my less than 300 minutes a year talks I have way more than I can use in my 600 minutes, $99 annual plan.

RE: What is with that new WallyWorld cell-phone-deal ?

I check the Tracfone site and the service in not listed there. Looks like they want to separate the service. Just like Toyota separated Lexus.

RE: Oil Changes Maint

Storing an engine for a long period of time without running it and not changing the oil annually (as most manufacturers recommend) is indeed bad. What is your definition of bad? My Detroit in 37 years run for less than 30k miles and just last year seat for full 12 months with 3 years old oil in it. Started right up on the first turn. To my knowledge the coach was sitting under the tree for over 10 years before I bought it and not likely the engine was ever started in this period. So if your opinion is right and I will not get 100 years of service from it, why would I care? :B
