RE: Onan Generator aint Genning

Mine started to be intermittent. I pulled the unit and cleaned the slip rings and brushes. Works fine now.

RE: Generator Leaking Oil

I had a bad oil pressure sensor leaking. Just replaced it several days ago.The oil found it's way under the engine and I thought it was something more serious.

RE: Onan generator shuts off after 25 min of running

Also check around the generator opening for cooling, a critter could have built a nest under the generator covers blocking the cooling to the cylinders.
This happened to me. Just yesterday reinstalled the genset after dropping it and cleaning it out. It was full of chewed up cotton material blocking the exit air vent. Check yours for air flow.

RE: Generator will not stay running?

Let me add a little heads up on Wolfe10. He is probably the most knowledeable and helpful member on this forum. He is well respected here and you can take his recommendations to the bank. Take your generator to the shop. BTW, it isn't your battery.

RE: Generator will not stay running?

Could someone give some advise on what to look at for my generator in my MH? I tried priming the generator by holding the button down in the coach and then firing it up. It runs for about a minute and then stops. I had the oil changed at the end of last year and the MH is complete full with fuel. Any help would be greatly appreciated as I'm stuck camping with no power!
Thanks,
Ben
It would always help to know the make and model of the generator. Probably get more specific that way.
I replaced a bad oil pressure switch today. Gen would shut off at random times. Check your oil temp/oil pressure switch by holding the start button down. If it runs while holding the start button down and stops when releasing the start button, I'm betting it is one or the other of the switchs. While starting, the safety switches are bypassed.

RE: Replacing Refrigerator Cooling Coils, who's done it?

I replaced one myself. Easy job. I took it outside to do it, but next time I will do inside the RV. The cooling coils(unit) cost about $450.

RE: Re-coating a MH roof - What did you use?

Use Liquid Rubber Roof. It is a two part EDPM Rubber coating that will be happy with.

RE: F53 Flexible Brake Hose Replacement procedure?

OK RLS7201:B........for the record........here is what the brakes fittings look like on a '96 F53 chassis.......

Lou, Sorry I couldn't make it to your brake line party.......I had promised my wife today was my sock drawer cleaning out day:B
My 1996 is the same as pictured. I replaced all the flex hoses since I had one fail and cause the brake to drag. Never another brake issue since.

RE: Liquid Rubber Roof

Just one word of caution with the product. My experience with an RV Cover was that it embedded itself into the rubber and had to be ripped off the RV. I had to re coat the roof but it looks bad. So bottom line based on my personal experience, don't use a cover over the Liquid Rubber Roof unless you can verify the cover won't react with the rubber. I also found that certain leaves if left on the roof wet will also react with the rubber and attach themselves to the roof.

Mice nest causing Genset to overheat

My Generac 5.5 Gennset quits after about 10 minutes of running. I traced the problem to the oil over-temp switch activating. I found the cooling air flow is greatly reduced by chewed up cotton and insulation materials. I got all I could out through the screen on the bottom but apparently the debris is packed in around the cylinders. So, this week I get to R & R the genset. While it's out I'm going to replace the rotor field brushes and clean the slip rings. Never a dull moment. I hate them meeses to pieces. GRRRRRR.

RE: Exhaust Manifold Leak

I have a 1997 Fleetwood Class A with only 20,000 miles on it, and an exhaust manifold leak developed on the passenger side (rear cylinder) It is a 464 Ford engine(7.4). When removing the manifold bolts, one broke off in the block. I drilled it out and the head cracked on the bolt hole. The other bolt on the rear cylinder was missing and also had a broken bolt hole. I took the manifold to a machinist and he said the manifold is warped, but can be re-surfaced.
Has anyone else had this problem? Can the bolt holes be repaired without removing the head? Can they be repaired at all? If not, Where can I find a head for a 464 Ford.
Thanks,
Will Walker
I have exactly the same issue. I planed the manifold and reinstalled it without a gasket. No leakage or noise for two years. If it starts making noise, I will pull both heads off and replace them along with a cheapie set of headers. Your heads will have the holes already elongated except one hole forward of the middle. The bolts are snapping in tension not in shear as many think. Amazing because I believe a grade 8 bolt that size will shear in tension at 75,000 lbs! Google Ford 460 cylinder head and you will find a source or two for the heads. If you purchase news heads, make sure you order heads with the same P/N as the old. They vary year to year.

RE: Driving with slide extended?

I stopped a guy in Missouri driving down US 54 with his slide open about a foot. He said he knew it was open but he couldn't close it because the battery was dead? I suggested there is a Walmart just down the street and he could get a battery there. He said nope, he was on his way to Texas and could get a better deal there. Yes, there are folks like this driving our highways. Scary huh.

RE: Dometic Dual Therm AC (UPDATE)

Mine did the same thing. It was the compressor relay on the circuit board. Replaced relay and a 10 microfarad capacitor that should have protected the relay contacts. All is well.

You can't beat Gulf State Park in Gulf Shores, AL! Just across the beach with a new Olympic size pool, tennis courts + many other amenities. You can't go wrong there.

RE: Banks power systems for gas coach

I am a little confused why a Banks system that greatly enhances engine efficiency doesn't improve gas milage. The engine is supposed to "breath" better, I would think MPGs would improve.
