RE: Filling fresh water tank

Are these water gauges available at local stores such as Lowes or Ace, maybe Home Depot?

RE: Stabilizers down?

A few years ago before we bought our Jayco my wife and I were looking at a new Passport rear slide on a local dealers lot. They didn't have the stabilizers down and when we walked to the rear of the camper the nose went up, we got out of there real quick, and needless to say we took that model off of our list. So that could be another reason to keep your stabs down, I'm sure they sold a few of those models, and there may be others like that.

RE: Filling fresh water tank

That meter looks like a great idea I think I'll get one.

RE: F-150: eco boost or 6 liter V8 ?

I believe that engines like the Eco-boost are the wave of the future, but I also believe that there may be a lot of bugs in these engines until they become practical. That is why I bought the V/8. I've always believed in power and strengh in cubic inches. I bought the Dodge for my wife because she still likes her Dodges. I gave up on them after looking at and thinking about my repair bills in almost 40 years of driving them. That old habit was hard to break. But back to the Eco-Boost after driving this Ford for almost 4 years trouble free (my Dodges never ran more than a few months without a problem)I believe they have a good idea and in the future will have a motor that the rest of the companies will copy in some way or other. For my wifes sake I sure hope these new Dodges are better.

RE: Stabilizers down?

I always keep mine down, makes me more comfortable when we get a storm with high winds. I don't know if it helps or not but I feel better.

RE: Filling fresh water tank

Usually when you see water running out of the vent or the filling tube you'll know.

RE: F-150: eco boost or 6 liter V8 ?

The Eco-boost numbers sound fantastic for pulling a load. But I just bought my wife a Dodge pickup with the 5.7 & 3.92 gears to use as a back up tow vehicle. Went with the V/8 because the Eco-boost may be a fantastic engine now, but I'll wait and see how they hold up over the long run. It's a great idea but I'll have to see if that little engine can hold up in the real world for a good number of years of hard work. It just seems it's going to have to work too hard to compete with a large cube V/8.

RE: How about an EcoBoost sticky?

I believe that it came off the line like they said, but I'll bet that it was prepped to make sure it was at it's peak performance. And I don't doubt that the whole time it was running these "tests" that it was mother henned by all sorts of Fords best techs making sure it stayed at it's peak, but I think any of the other companies would do the same.

RE: How about an EcoBoost sticky?

I'm notloyal to any brand of truck, I learned that from all of the Dodges I've owned, so I'll wait about 4-5 years and see if they hold up. I'm sure that the one in Fords video wasn't taken directly off the line, my guess is that it was prepped so everything was as perfect as possible.

RE: What do you use to level your RV?

I don't think trailers come with auto level but it would be nice. Dakzuki why through good water away when you can pour half of it into another glass then fill them both with a good American whiskey?

RE: Rebuilding my 1981 Sunline 17.5SB

Oh yeah, batteries will explode. When I was still working I pulled my van into work parking lot at quitting time to unload. When I went to start it to pull it around to the front of the building and park it for the night it wouldn't start so we put jumpers on it from my partners van and BOOM off went the top of the battery so hard it bent the underside of the hood. I'm just glad I wasn't standing over it when it went. They'll do that if you try to charge them and one of the cells has a short. It can be dangerous. That's one of the reasons when you charge a battery you're supposed to remove the caps so it can vent and release some of the pressure. You don't want to take a chance of one blowing with someone sitting in the booth.

RE: What do you use to level your RV?

The bathroom door is a good idea, if it stays where you put it and doesn't swing then you're level. I use this myself as the final check.

RE: Front Fold Out Horror

What it comes down to is if you don't have a hybrid then don't try to give advice on items that pertain strictly to hybrids. But there are a lot of areas in a hybrid that anyone that has almost any R.V. can answer, so anyone from any site should be welcome as long as they don't try to give advice on items that only pertain to hybrids and unless they have owned a hybrid know nothing about. But this should be true for all sites.

Well so much for the Casita site, but thanks any way. I appreciate the comebacks I'll see what I can do over at Tech Issues.

RE: Hunter thermostat upgrade question

Is there any way to hook up a thermostat to a non ducted A/C unit. Sorry to jump in but I've thinking about this and now seemed a good time to ask.

RE: Front Fold Out Horror

SolidAxleDurango, I wouldn't let that keep you out of the hybrid section. If you have information that can help some one, it don't matter what kind of R.V. you have or what site you're in. If someone needs help and you can help them do it.

RE: Plugging TT into House

I plug mine in all the time, just can't use the A/C. I used to use the A/C regular until one day I put a volt meter on the line and found out I was getting 96 volts with the air running. Man was I lucky I didn't damage the A/C. The circuit box is on the other end of the house and it's just too long a run.

RE: Trip costs

Regardless of cost I use my trailer because I want to sleep in a bed and use a bathroom that I know the history of. What was done by who.

RE: What do you use to level your RV?

I have a couple of small levels ( the R.V. dealer I bought from threw them in ) mounted on the side and front of the battery box. Level side to side with 2X10's cut at an angle on the ends and the jack front to back. Before I mounted the levels on the batterty box I used a 6" level on the fridge front to back left to right.
