PPL consignment sales,

I am reporting back on the consignment of my Class C motor home through PPL of Houston, Tx. The rig sold in 3 days, financing arrangements are complete, I received my asking price. I have never been treated better by any business I have ever dealt with. They treat you as a valued customer, they promptly follow up on everything. They really do a job for you. If I was to do it again, I would use them in a heart beat, including if I was buying one. They are a class act, clean, efficient, friendly, no waiting, fantastic communications with you. A satisfied customer, it is nice to be positive for a change.

RE: Personal Question $$$

Not everyone who finances is going out and buying a 100k rig and not earning enough income to pay for what they finance. Mine was under $15k, put a good down payment on it, and earn well enough to pay for the interest (that I calculated before I made my purchase, aka my decision). Yep, it's my toy. And I have worked hard and I earned it. These are the kinds of posts that seem incredibly judgemental. It is an assumption that every person who finances an RV is careless, buys one they can't afford, and doesn't earn enough money to make their payments AND be able to buy everything else they need. And it is these very same type of judgemental posts that have lead me over time to question all of the people who claim to buy everything with cash. I have no doubt some people on here do; however, the huge percentage who claims to buy everything with cash seems questionable. It seems a bit curious when someone proclaims to buy everything they ever owned with cash while at the same time casting huge judgements on someone else who finances, and making a lot of wild assumptions about that person's lifestyle. I am not a bit careless thank you very much, and YES, I financed my RV, and YES, I can admit it without shame. I am quite capable of knowing how to create a budget that is affordable. ********************************************************************** Jay if you go back and read carefully my original post. I said I don't see how you or anyone can afford to finance an RV. I gave all the reasons why it is almost undo able. I did not cast any aspersions on those that choose to. That it your decision to make. I just don't understand the math rationale. Any time you finance a depreciable asset such as an RV you cannot win. You may enjoy your sojourn, but it is costing you in other areas. My advice would be to shed the chip on your shoulder and enjoy your ROI.Jay if you go back and read carefully my original post. RE: Personal Question $$$

I bought an almost new,(3600 miles), class C. It was at a bank auction, a rep-Po from a young family that just could not do the math. They bought it loaded to the teeth. In 3600 miles they lost it. I never drove that coach once with out thinking of them. The price I paid for it, they would have had a large balance to pay off even after the auction. I just hope to God they did not 2nd mortgage their home to get it. It haunted me all the time, even though it was a hell of deal for me.

RE: Personal Question $$$

figure 50 cent on the dollar of what you paid for it as its value in the 5-6 year range. Qualified buyers are more scarce than teeth in a hen.

RE: Personal Question $$$

What just took place in this country is a direct result of credit buying beyond your means. I don't understand why it is so hard to understand, (not), financing an RV. I started 40 years ago with a tent, then progressed up but only if I could save enough to pay for the next rig. When my kids were very young, I couldn't afford one and so I did not have one, but I rented, I wanted my kids to experience RV life. I invested every cent I could, (money makes more money than I could working). Finally I could afford what I wanted, but did not owe anyone. I was fortunate not to have any really costly break downs, but still normal maintenance is very high even when you do the work yourself. Then pay some finance company or bank for the privilege of enjoying the RV is not in my lexicon. The American way of spending the future is over.

RE: Personal Question $$$

I have never figured out with depreciation on an RV being what it is, how any one could afford to finance one. Between the debt service, depreciation, maintenance, taxes, tires, up keep, high campground fees, outrageous fuel prices, constant replacement parts and insurance and the very limited time one gets to use them, there is just no way. Yet I do it, except I don't finance.

RE: Awning Sun Screen

I have purchased several over the years and just recently ordered one from PPL of Houston. It is better quality, and they shipped o/n no frt charge. I do not work for PPL in any capacity. They are good people to deal with.

RE: Roof penetration caps?

Generally they are sold in every camper store. Yours is sure not the first one to disintegrate from sun and U/V.

RE: Memorial day

I stay home on Holiday week ends so the working families have a chance to do what I can do every day.

RE: PPL Motorhomes....

I just came from PPL. I consigned my rig with them. What a place, they are so efficient and well organized. They treat you like a customer from the second you walk through the door. I never had to wait for anything. Every appointment is kept right on time. They then follow up with e-mails to keep you informed of what they are doing. Their parts store is humongous, I noticed they had a hell of a lot of specials stacked up with deep discounts. So far I am very happy with them.

RE: Funeral Edict?

It seems simple to me. Stopping would have been respectful. You would have been giving this person your last chance to be reverent and show some modicum of respect. Who knows it may have been a fallen soldier or even the mother/father of one. No matter, he was a human taking his last ride.

RE: Tip the pdi guy?

With all the taxes, bank charges, fuel surcharges,on and on I personally am not going to add some one else's employee's to my pocket book. This is just getting completely out of hand. The restaurants in this part of the country are beginning to tell you how much you should tip the waitress. At Christmas even the mail man has got his hand out, even though he makes more than most of his customers, if you want to call them that.

RE: Direct TV

It is simple enough. Once they have you in their net, you then get to finance their expansion and marketing program. When they reach their desired market share, they will raise every ones rates. The thing I am sick and tired of is constant re-runs. Just try sending them the same check you sent last month this month. Now that would be the customers re-run, but that is illegal.

RE: Any dog parks in Pigeon Forge?

Not to my knowledge. Why would you ever allow your dog to run free? He will get all the exercise he needs on a long leash in Patriot Park Pigeon Forge. I don't believe it is ever acceptable to let a dog run leash free unless it is in an enclosed lot.

RE: CAMPGROUNDS WITH SEASONAL SITES

Yes frequently a c/g with a large or predominant seasonal clients will be a bit stand offish to short term campers. I have found this most every time I have used one. Some c/g's go to the extent of completely separating them from each other. This works well I think, especially if you are a early departure person and you concern your self with disturbing long term or seasonal guest. While on this subject has any one else noticed how many more c/gs are going to the seasonal guest?

RE: Lucky

No one can make you feel guilty. You are doing it to yourself, why, I can't imagine. Unless you find yourself being able to do so much of what you could not do before. Don't feel guilty, I really don't think your friends are trying to make you feel that way with malice. Some of your friends forfeited their chance to have what you do by frivolous or unfortunate life circumstances. Enjoy the fruits of your labor.

RE: Keys made at WalMart

Yes they do. The Key machine is in different places at different Wal-Marts, but usually they are in the hardware or camping department. The big question will they have the blank you need for your key. There is one blank that is difficult to find anywhere but a lock smith. I have forgotten the name of it. Chances are good they can make what you want.

RE: Never had this happen before

I have had something as small as a hickory nut just shatter a vent lid to bits. They do not stop aging once they are put on and the sun hits them. I keep the heavy duty covers over mine now.

RE: Waited WAY too long - Now what

Kerosene will dissolve tar. Generally will not affect most paints. Mineral spirits is good, but some paints it acts as a catalyst.

RE: New to this, very excited !!

It appears you bought a exceptionally clean nice looking Georgia Boy. If the drive train is as good as the body looks, you bought a winner. Have fun.
