RE: Removing small Lp can from Weber Q before storing?

REMOVE IT! And cover the gas port with the plastic cover attached to the weber regulator to prevent getting the port fouled with ... whatever. As Scott G said, that regulator valve can be rotated from OFF to HIGH very easily. My did in the covered bed of my PU. BIG surprise when I retracted the cover - could easily have been a BIG KABOOM!
REMOVE IT!

RE: Yikes, we did it

We started our fulltiming adventure 3.5 years ago - just down the road from ya, in Corpus Christi. Every time I read one of this "just getting started" posts it reminds me of the great feeling I had as I watched Corpus Christi disappear from my side view mirrors!
Have a great time and remember... in retirement... tomorrow is soon enough!

RE: Estimate for repair

AS critical as the roofing, sealing materials and roof-wall interfaces are, you'd think RV manufacturers would invest in AND PASS ALONG the price of much better materials and sealing protocols! Crimminies - I paid $70K for my trailer! Would I have balked at another $2K for significantly better weather proofing (and possibly even guarantee)?
HECK NO!

RE: Camping Memories

I wish you many more trips like your first one this year Ramblin Recks.
DW and I have been full timing for 3.5 years now and not a day goes by that we don't thank God for this retirement life we have been enjoying. Seems also that not a day goes by where one or the other of us mentions just how great a day it is.
YES... our cups are half full!

RE: Water in FW tank sitting for 3 weeks -- dump and sanitize?

I guess if it was convenient to dump and refill I guess I would. Second thought - NO I wouldn't. Sometimes I think we make too much of this "sanitizing" - especially of city water - deal. I sanitize my potable water tank once a year but even question that necessity.
PLEASE prove me wrong someone. Has anyone seen a documented case of serious health issues related to the ingestion of water that has been sitting in a well maintained RV's sealed tank for 1 month, 2? 3? 6?.......
If the example is credible I will start sanitizing once a month! Maybe put a "skull and cross bones" symbol on the faucets when pumping water from the tank.

RE: Slow market or what?

We are full timing in ours and it has been on various markets for about 2 months now.. well maintained, really great shape, moderately/low asking price yada yada yada..
I BELIEVE that RV's will sell a lot quicker when they are opened up and parked in a well established busy RV Dealer's lot. Once we get really serious about settling down somewhere - that's what we are going to do.
Good luck to ya!

RE: Skyline (Koala) - Small Fiberglass Strands Inside Trailer

THIS IS ONE OF THOSE "IF IT WERE ME" RESPONSES SO PLEASE REMEMBER THAT
I am no doctor but common sense is telling me that you should be wearing a respirator while in the trailer until that******is removed! Lungs and minuscule debris (of any material) is NOT A GOOD MATCH.
CALL a PROFESSIONAL LICENSED CLEANER who has experience with this sort of issue - and a local outfit like "Mable's Maids Service" is NOT EXPERIENCED" to do the job.
The who, what, when, where issues regarding the origin of that******is secondary to your health - and your two little bundles of joy!
GET IT CLEANED - then attack all those other issues. In the mean time
KEEP YOUR KIDS OUT OF THERE!

RE: How to break the ice with our CG neighbors?

I have a pair of bright pink flamingos I put out at the RV parks we stay at...that gets the neighbors talking! :b
If it weren't for "dupicate posts" RV.net wouldn't be the fantastic resource it is! So post whatever (within editorial bounds) ya want, whenever ya want.
ICE Breaking:
Pets are always a good breakerCommon Interest clues (look for golf clubs, fishing rods, BBQ Grill type, etc)Reading outside - Kinde, paperbacksComment on cooking aromas from "last night etc"Ask questions about camping / your trailer / their trailerJudging you by your "friendy, easy going style of writing" I suspect you know all this - so just go Break The ICE!

RE: Walmart parking lot stays - need advice please

Unless the need is DIRE (funds exhausted) - AVOID WALMART overnights. If for NO other reason - for the sake of the kids. What the heck fun would it be for them.. They are out for a fun camping experience - not some blue light special on Isle 10.
but then... that's just me

RE: What do full timers do to NOT become bored with life style

Have you ever written a lengthy reply to a post, hit the "Post Message" button and have a page pop up like - That webpage is not available - or the like? Just did on me.
So let me cut to the quick....
Don't spend the next 5 or 6 years dreaming about a fulltiming life void of BOREDOM because, as much as DW and I enjoy the lifestyle, no matter how active you become, no matter how exciting the places you visit are - it is within the average person's normal range of emotions to fee BORED from time to time. How bored.. how often ya feel it... NOBODY can answer that FOR you EXCEPT you.
Good Luck to ya!

RE: How do you choose destination?

DW and I use the GASTRO-DE.LITE.AH.CUS method of choosing our destination parks (i.e. 1 to 6 month stays). It goes like this:
Decide what delicacies we desireZero in on the region where those delicacies can be hadUse Woodalls and various other campground search engines to choose the campgroundUse engines and especially RV.net to seek opinions of said campgroundsPlug the destination campground into our truck navigatorUpon arrival ask locals where the freshest of those delicacies can be foundMange, mange, mange:W

RE: Remove scratches

I'm NOT suggesting you do this... but it DID work for me....
Mr. Clean "Magic Erasure" - little white sponge looking thing. I had a few minor scratches (not through the paint) on my 5er. I GENTLY, LIGHTLY rubbed the scratched area, maybe 1/2cm on either side as well, GENTLY, LIGHTLY and then followed up with several applications of paste wax rubbed in well.
As I said.. it worked for me but am NOT recommending you try it but if you do - you could easily rub too hard with disastrous results. Well... how disastrous could it really be - we've only talking about a tiny area on a piece of metal! after all.

50A "Extension" Cable

JUST SKIP to the last paragraph for the question I have without all the wherefore and whereases!
We've only been FTing for 3+ years so I haven't really experienced a whole lot of different site pedestal set ups... but this park's set up IS new to me.
First off, the sites are "back ins" but the pedestals are on the "patio side" - unless you're go head in with a B, C or A. And, the pedestals are close to the front of the sites (nearest the road).
The result is that you have to run the utility lines UNDER the trailer and in my case, can only back in to the site so far because of the length of the 50a hook up cable - not far enough to allow room to park the truck completely OFF the road. And at the same time, we've got about 20' in back of the trailer that is wasted.
Long way to ask the question... If I were to buy another 25' 50a cable, could I hook them up end to end? I know there is a "voltage drop" in these cables which may / may not be acceptable through a total of 50 feet for stuff like AC's etc.
Thanks

RE: Buy local or drive 9 hours?

I agree with most all, and for all the same reasons .... go for that drive!
Let's say (and I hope not) you're set up at a campground near home for the weekend and come time to leave, one of your slides will NOT retract - no matter what, and no one there has a clue. Regardless of warantee, or place of purchase you are going to have to get a "local" RV guy to come out to get you going. Unless that repair guy is affiliated with your manufacturer in some way - you will have to pay out of pocket and if it's a warantee issue hopefully, get reimbursed later. So what difference does it make where ya bought the rig? None!
Another thing not mentioned is that you never know when, even the most solvent appearing dealer will go out of business - here today gone tomorrow ya know?

RE: ladder recomendation

We bought the WERNER telescoping 13' ladder 3-1/2 years ago and, except that it's on the heavy side, love it. Basically regardless of the configuration you're using it in, you feel "steady" on it.
