RE: Used MH gasser recommended mileage

...My 14 year old gasser has over 100,000 miles on it and looks almost brand new. My mechanic says that I can expect another 100,000 to 150,000 out of it... Chev or Ford? Chevy 454 on a Spartan Chassis.

RE: Used MH gasser recommended mileage

... A coach that is driven regularly and properly maintained will last a long time.... Absolutely true. That's why I laugh everytime I read someone bragging about their '93 MH with only 11,000 miles on it. My 14 year old gasser has over 100,000 miles on it and looks almost brand new. My mechanic says that I can expect another 100,000 to 150,000 out of it. The best reference you can have is the maintenance records with the vehicle. The worst case to avoid is both low mileage and little paperwork.

RE: And now for something different....

Would take a real man to drive that... It would help if he was colorblind.

RE: Mold problem : Update pg. 3

Big Katuna hit the nail on the head. That looks like fungus growing, not mold. It's not normal to see fungi on interior surfaces of walls; indicating some serious internal moisture penetration. Scrape, scrub, and disinfect. Recommend that you vacate the rv until you figure out where the moisture is coming from. Airborne spores can be highly toxic, and with this kind of situation, what you can't see is going to be worse than what you can see.

RE: Panama City Beach in the winter

After January 1st and before spring break kicks off in March, the PCB area is a wasteland of shuttered businesses and buildings. If you get the chance to see the movie, "Ruby in Paradise" with "Ashley Judd" - it's an accurate portrayal of the area during various times of the year.

RE: Deleting TXT files on Nuvi

I have a different model Nuvi than you do, but on mine, you can delete all the vpm files, but the ones titled "English_American...." I can also add the largest microSD card I can buy to increase storage space. I can't adjust memory.

RE: pt putter

The manual transmission can be towed 4 down without mods. The automatic transmission requires the transmission lube pump. I have the pump on mine and the only problems that I've had in 50,000+ miles is that the pump doesn't like temps below freezing. So, if I'm travelling on a real cold day, I have to start the PT and drive it for at least 5-10 minutes before I hook up. Otherwise, the pump alarm won't shut off. I also use the Brake Buddy brake system.

RE: recommended polish for eyeglasses?

While some may have had a poor experience with Zenni we have have had nothing but great service from them. As far as Walmart optical doctors, the one that I had examine my I eyes was so bad that Walmart stepped in and apologized for his actions and paid for a pair of progressive glasses of my choice do to his(the doctors) actions. Realize that most of the Walmart doctors are not employees of Wallmart, they are businesses that have leased a piece of the store for their business. Just info. That's why I said I get my prescription from a good optometrist and then go to Wal-Mart to have the glasses made.

RE: Where does the Washer and Dryer go? w/pics

If the tub is not mandatory, it looks like a shower stall with laundry cabinetry would fit in its place. That might give you enough room for stackable units which are more popular than a combined unit.

RE: recommended polish for eyeglasses?

The scratches are in the coating. It's not worth trying to fix. What I do is get an updated prescription from a good optometrist and take it to Wal-Mart. Their optical shop costs a fraction of what an eye center will charge for quality glasses. If you really want to go cheap on glasses, order them online. I've used: Zenni Optical

RE: 2000 Southwind Storm - Need to improve handling

On my MH, the biggest handling difference came when I figured out that the front spring airbags had to be properly inflated.

RE: RV Antenna adaptor wedge

The Winegard adapter is designed for a dome installation and is circular and open in the center. It won't work well with the triangular base on the "Jack." Figure out the angle needed and take the antenna to a machine shop and have them make you an aluminum wedge.

RE: RV Park in Sacramento, CA

There are two problems with the RV park in Loomis. One is that it turns into a mud puddle when it rains. And the other is that most of the campers are permanent residents. I stayed there one night and immediately went looking for another place. I ended up at the Gold Country RV Park in Auburn. It's a much nicer place. It even has wild turkeys that wander around.

RE: Salmon Fishing Pulaski

I stayed at Association Island numerous times while in that part of New York. It was a nice RV park with a great view of the sunsets on Lake Ontario. I never fished in Pulaski, but, several times, drove over a bridge on route 3 where many others were fishing. I think it was about 20 miles south of the Island.

RE: Dish Network to Direct TV

The answer is not that simple. If all you're interested in is standard definition channels, the answer is yes. If you want high defintion reception, the answer is no.

RE: Financial Forum??

....your shares in stocks, bonds and mutual funds will also increase or decrease in value again depending on market performance. If shares increase then you may also have long and/or short term capital gains. If you've rolled over into a self-directed IRA and you sell an asset in the IRA (such as sell an appreciated stock) there are NO capital gains. The proceeds simply become part of your income. I agree with Finally Fulltiming - get professional advice and don't take the advice of anyone here.
