RE: Gray tank sensors

After draining the grey tank fill it 2/3rds with clean water and add a gallon of vinegar. Drive to your destination and dump after 4 or 5 hours.
Add a gallon of vinegar ever few weeks or so before driving to keep em working. Vinegar is cheap at WalMart (ask me how I know lol)

RE: Camping in parking lots on the LV Strip

We dry camped many times at the Orleans. There is usually 100 trucks parked in the NE parking area along with frequent security.
Last Spring during the WSOP I parked there 4 nights straight. Never a problem.

RE: RGV CG w/tavern on property?

...We have been warned not to venture out after dark...
If you don't mind hoping on and off a shuttle (and being in the lower valley) then South Padre Island could be a possiblity for you.
You can walk to Dirty Al's ...right next to the rv park...good shrimp...$7 jugs of beer...they'll sell you your bait too.

RE: Dometic 1402 sidewise fridge too warm

Hi Doug
The tech had the dometic tech support on the phone while testing so hope they got it right.
This fridge has more than 1 thermistor and the tech tested them 1st.
Part should be here on Thursday so will let all know how it worked out.

RE: Dometic 1402 sidewise fridge too warm

Well after a few weeks of the fridge operating flawlessly it again heated up while the digital temperature display indicated temperatures were fine. Outdoor temperatures were cool so that had nothing to do with my problem.
After trying a few things to remedy that were unsuccessful I phoned Dometic tech. They said most likely it was one of the thermistors or a control board...so I phoned a mobile tech to check it out. Seems like a control board was malfunctioning and its now on order.
That was 3 days ago, this morning the fridge is operating properly again ha ha.
Hope the control board will permanently solve my problem.

RE: The "Best of Rockport" Texas????

We enjoyed staying at Goose Island State Park last 6 days. Fishing was OK...I left the bbq on at our spot and fileted each fish as it was caught and straight on the barby lol.
Don't miss seeing the 1000 year old oak tree at the north end of Lamar Beach.

RE: Where are all the snowbirds ?

Just left Florida yesterday after a fabulous month there. Many of the RV Parks increase their rates in December, so being a good Canadian we're heading west.

RE: Virgin Mobile Broadband

No. We just got back from the Florida Keys and found the VirginMobile Broadband2Go to be practically worthless in the Keys and just about anywhere along the Gulf Coast to Galveston, TX. I could not get reception in a single Florida state park campground. We had little reception as well on our trip to Arizona last spring. For all practical purposes coverage is not good for RVers. My coverage map shows no coverage in Key West but a hotspot just east near the Naval Air Station. I got no reception at Bahia Honda SP or John Hennencamp Coral Reef SP campgrounds on the Keys. If I try hotspotting again I will go with a VerizonWireless device.
I use Virgin Broadband. I'm in St Andrew State park atm (Panama City,Florida)and our broadband is fine. Same with the Florida Keys...our broadband worked fine except to play video (we usually were able to use Skype with video). It has worked in every Florida State park we've been in so far (Atlantic & Gulf side)
I get a plan $40/month for unlimited...after 5 gigs apparently the speed slows down. I haven't used 5 gigs a month yet.

RE: Dometic 1402 sidewise fridge too warm

Well the fuse is OK. Theres a thermostat capacitor type thing attached to the top left fin. I guess I could try jumper this with a piece of wire?
Yes, that is the tstat. ANSWER the one question Is this in a slide out? Doug
Yes the fridge is in a slide out. Temperature display atm is at 11 40 so freezer a bit higher (I added a few Corona's lol) but fridge doing OK...thermometer is measuring 40 degrees as well. It was on LNG mode today as we are traveling....maybe there's better ventilation/cooling when bus is moving 60mph?
No evidence the fans have run today. I metered the fuse ....it's OK...if I disconnect the thermostat on the fans and jumper the two ends I'm guessing they would run steady?
I have no idea why the reefer seems to be cooling now and the display is working...but I do think getting the fans in the back running would be great.

RE: Dometic 1402 sidewise fridge too warm

How are you measuring to get the 45 degree temp??? NO error codes? IF the refer is sensing the 1/33, then it assumes it is at temp. Doug
Hmmm...I measured the temp with a thermometer...by time I went to bed last nite the display read 01 33 but fridge temp was actually 55 degrees. No error codes.
This morning the display read 07 46 and the thermometer read 45 degrees...doh...just talking about the problem here seems to already help lol.
No idea why the display decided to work?
I added 3 frozen bottles of water to the fridge now its down to 41 degrees. I wish I knew how the 2 fans on the back of reefer were supposed to work though.

RE: Dometic 1402 sidewise fridge too warm

I would try running a muffin fan back in the cooling unit area to reduce the heat back there and install an interior fan to move the air around. A two year old unit should not have a cooling unit failure.
Well I looked in the back to see if I can rig up a small fan...it appears that there are 2 fans pointing down but they are not running. Maybe this is a fuse or something? Do these constantly run?

Arg I hope not but if the cooling unit was crapping out why would the digital read out say the fridge temp was 33 degrees?
