RE: Pilot Discount Fuel Program Issue

How do I apply for this Pen-Fed card? Someone please private message me. I'm tired of the hassle of multiple swipes, and or $ limits per day for diesel fuel!
Go to www.penfed.org and click on "Apply Now" for the third card down, the "Visa® Platinum Cash Rewards Card". If you don't qualify under one of the regular military categories, you'll be given the opportunity to join one of a couple of military family support groups for one year to qualify. You do not need to renew the membership after that.

RE: Good Sam ERS & Cracker Barrel

I'm new to the forum, besides a great place to eat, what else does Cracker Barrel do?
Thanks!
Many Cracker Barrel's have dedicated RV parking and allow overnight parking, similar to Walmart. As said though, it's not uncommon to find cars parked in the RV spots, especially at the busy meal times.

RE: Need to do some mods to my daily driver

Yep, those are some amazing "mods"! I will admit to having done a couple of them myself though, on a very temporary basis. I've done the sponge windshield wiper "fix", only with a rag wound around the end of the arm to replace a broken blade, to allow use of the other wiper until a replacement was available. I've also driven a car with a blown airbag, and the split cover duct taped rather than stapled. Again, only until a replacement was available.

RE: Best name for a dog?

"DeeOhGee"
Man, that brought back some memories..
My Late Uncle had a beloved dog he named D.O.G.
Dog loved him, he loved the dog.
The day my Uncle died his young son let D.O.G. out to use the restroom...
D.O.G. never came back home...
Kind of sweet and spooky all at the same time.. and yes. it is a true story.
I believe it... They really are members of our families.

RE: Cell amps and antennas

I have been looking at the Wi-Ex zBoost YX545 Cellular Phone Signal Booster, which appears to have real good reviews. I will also talk to the 3G store Monday about the Wilson, similar to the zBoost. I do not want a cradle type, as we want one to use for both the phones and the internet.
Don't overlook the Maximum Signal gear. There's a good review along with a $50 off deal here.

RE: Cell amps and antennas

I helped a fellow in Tennessee install a "Large RV" cell amplifier/repeater from Maximum Signal last year. I was impressed with the amount of boost we saw almost everywhere in the coach.

RE: Straight Talk (again!)

They actually split up Alltel because both AT&T and Verizon were whining monoply holdings. In our area around Cody, WY AT&T bought out Alltel. I like AT&T. It is much better service than we got from Alltel. We don't sign contracts so weren't sure how AT&T was going to treat us. They sent us some real good heavy duty cell phones for free. AT&T put in several new towers so the change over was very slow. We can get cell service now almost all the way to Billings, MT.
As I said, "AT&T to Acquire Divestiture Properties from Verizon Wireless".

RE: VuQube Portable Satellite System

Another vote for the Winegard over the VuQube.
Chris, I know the VuQube uses a 7" dish, but I haven't found a spec for the dish size in the Winegard Carryout automatic. It appears that it could be larger based on the dome size, but I'd like find a number to support that. Do you have any info regarding the size?

RE: Straight Talk (again!)

AT&T is changing over to GSM. Seems GSM is used world wide and CDMA is on a downward trend. Even in the rural areas of Wyoming AT&T switched over to GSM when they bought out Alltel.
AT&T has been using GSM since back in the Cingular days, so it's nothing new to them. Verizon and Sprint are both heavily invested in CDMA, so I don't think it will be going away anytime soon. Verizon bought Alltel, not AT&T. Verizon did spin off parts of Alltel to AT&T though, to satisfy the anti-trust folks in Washington.

RE: Nylon plug on water heater broken

I use an ordinary CPVC plug available at nearly any hardware or home improvement store for about 50 cents. Instead of using teflon tape, I slip an O-ring over the plug that makes a very snug seal to the port shoulder.
