RE: sewer fitting storage?

Wife's purse.
It must be a rather large purse. Does she know it's in there ?

RE: Onan generator question.

Where did you find the info about the generator having 2 windings ?
I have a 4000 watt belt driven generator that has a switch to go from 120 volts to 120/240 volts.

RE: Problem with furnace

I would first pull the fan motor and check the bearings. If your lucky they will just need some oil, or they may need replacing/new motor.
Because the fan was running slow, look for a tripped high heat limit. There is a high limit somewhere but it may be an auto reset. If it's an auto reset then look for a broken/loose wire on that high limit.
It's also a good time to check the heat exchanger for a crack. With the fan running too slow it probably over heated, that's what the high heat limit is for.

break away brakes

In the late '90's I bought a cargo trailer with electric brakes with a break away system. If the battery down you needed to charge it with a battery charger, but it held it's charge and never needed charging.
A couple of years ago I replaced it with a larger trailer. It also has break away brakes. On this one the battery will recharge, if needed, when in use. But it looses it's charge when not in use, in a few months.
Two questions.
1- How does the charging system work ?
2- Is there a problem with it, or do they normally loose there charge when not in use ? They both appear to have the same type of battery.
Thanks,
Dusty

RE: Plug for aluminum hot water heater

We bought our mh new in the fall of '02. The water heater is an Atwood with the aluminum tank. When it was a year or two old I replaced that nylon plug with a brass drain cock, like used as radiator drains. It came with a thick coat of heavy red colored paste on the threads. I wondered after I had installed it, if I should ordered it one size smaller and put a nylon reduced bushing in it, which would isolated the brass from the aluminum. I did not screw it in real tight, but tight enough that it has not leaked. So far we have not had any problem with the brass corroding the aluminum.
We are snow birds so we don't winterize, and only drain it once or twice a year.

RE: Furnace burning to hot

How old is the furnace?
I've seen older home furnaces that the fan became dirty and couldn't move enough air and do what your RV furnace is doing.

RE: 2004 FunMover 39C Electrical Gremlins

Could be a broken wire, but more likely a bad connection, loose or corroded, especially where it fastens to the mh frame.
Many times on the 12v system there is only one wire, the hot one, to the fixture/appliance, and the ground goes straight to the frame.

RE: Where is the 120 circuit breaker on a 1991 Mallard Sport 25

Maybe you have a GFCI tripped and not a breaker. Look for an outlet thats looks different than the rest, it will have a reset built into it.

RE: Re visiting my Onan generator problem...again....

Before you go nuts take fuel line off at genny then put a rubber fuel hose from genny to a gal of gas on ground. Crank to see if it starts ,if so its a bad fuel line. After I did that found fuel line was sucking air, my new fuel line works great.
Or it could be a bad fuel pump.
I added a switch to my fuel pump and turn it off and let the generator die from lack of fuel when I know we age not going to use it again for a while. No fuel left in the carb to gum up.

RE: plastic rear window magnifier

It seems strange but I find that when driving in the rain, that you can't see out the back window because it's covered rain water, but you can see though the wide angle lens on the window.

RE: Newbie Class C Questions

Not many car dealer shops will not take a mh. You will need to go to a Ford or Chevy truck dealer.
The Ford truck dealers have treated me very well. Both on the road and at home.

RE: Suburban water heater Pressure Relief Valve replacement

Welcome to the Forum! First and foremost, you need to make sure you in fact really need a new pressure valve. The valve will leak if the air cushion inside the water heater becomes saturated. Type in "restore air cushion in RV water heater" on your search engine for instructions on how to get the air cushion back. If that doesn't work, try flipping the valve lever, under pressure, quickly to see if perhaps some sediment hasn't lodged in there. If in fact you do have to replace it, get a galvanized piece of threaded pipe from Home Depot that will screw into the valve and use that to break the seal. Good luck with your project and again, welcome to the Forum!
I agree with the air cushion, BUT I think the older water heaters with standing pilot did not have the space for the air cushion.
I feel the best thing is to install a 2 gallon pressure tank with an air bladder. It makes your water system work much nicer.

RE: Vent fan

We had an '88 mallard that had a wire at a vent for 120V AC. I moved cable/wire from the 120V ac side of the panel to the 12v dc side, then added a 12v dc fan in the vent.

Try taking it to a good auto parts place. They may recognize it. Or maybe a salvage yard.

RE: Manual for 1989 Mallard Sprinter limited edition XL

We had a 22' on the E-350. We sold it to a good neighbor in 2002. I help her with it once in a while. Last fall she was talking about sell it this spring. It's been stored indoors every winter except the first winter we had it, '88-'89.
I will try to answer any questions anyone has.

Ours has been on for 9.5 years. Have you been putting the right side against the window ?
It's been so long that I don't remember how to put it on.

RE: Manual for 1989 Mallard Sprinter limited edition XL

I sent you an e-mail, can e-mail manual.
We had a 1988 Mallard, it had direct spark ignition (DSI). We had a friend that had a 1987 Tiago, that had a standing pilot. We traveled to Alaska together, every time we stopped for the night, the first thing he did was to get out and light the pilot ho their water heater.
I think the mh builders changed to DSI in 1988.
